CHAPTER 204: BASE

South Battle Administration Area.

Lukas was still in Dr. Uwe’s lab waiting for the result.

The demonic beast core of the Apex demonic beast was placed in a machine with mechanical arms shooting out beams of light at it.

Dr. Uwe who was standing by the side of the demonic beast core was focused on the screen in front of him.

The screen had the data and information about the demonic beast core from the scans the mechanical arms were making on it.

His eyes focused intensely on the screen while Margaret by his side would help to wipe the beads of sweat on his forehead.

Finally, the mechanical arms stopped, and the lab went silent.

Dr. Uwe turned back to Lukas with a worried look.

He shook his head and said, "It’s times like this I wish I could have a cigar to calm myself."

Lukas and Margaret waited eagerly for his answer.

"You are right.

"It is highly possible for the demonic beast core to contain more essence from the scans of its structure.

"I think we better let Rodney and the Leader know about our discovery." Dr. Uwe said.

Lukas nodded and before he could say anything, his phone gave out a buzz.

He picked up the phone and was surprised to see a message from Sherry.

It was a request for an urgent mission.

Lukas tapped on the message and read the full information.

Margaret also got the message at the same time, and she also read the information about the mission.

It would be a mission to the North Battle Administration Area to protect the First Awakened from the intruders, who Sherry had suspected to be the Dark Lord and his accomplices.

The reward of the mission this time would come with five million dollars and real estate in the South Battle Administration Area.

"Come, let’s get back to meet with the others." Lukas said and he left with Margaret after thanking Dr. Uwe for the discovery.

While on their way back, they received a phone call from Riley.

"We have no time, go straight to the airbase.

"Sherry had arranged for an airplane for us.

"I’ve asked Rex and Emma to help pack the essentials you need for you.

"Meet you at the airbase." Riley said.

"We will do so immediately." Lukas replied and he tapped on the driver of the taxi and said, "Change of destination, we’ll be going to the airbase."

The driver nodded and he did a hard left and stepped on the pedal.

The tires screeched, giving out a cloud of smoke before the taxi sped off towards the airbase.

A similar scene happened in the Center Battle Administration Area and Terry with his team were also on their way to the North Battle Administration Area.

As the airplane landed, Lukas could see that the whole North Battle Administration Area was covered in a thick layer of ice and snow.

One that was much more severe than the West Battle Administration Area.

When the back of the airplane opened, he could immediately feel the cold wind blowing onto his face.

Warmth immediately surrounded his body when his new Darkmatter Vault armor detected the difference in temperature.

Riley and the others didn’t have such luxury, and they tried their best to keep themselves warm by rubbing their hands and blowing hot air into their palms.

Soldiers immediately came up to them and ushered them out from the airbase.

A familiar voice called out to them as they boarded the armored truck.

"Guess we meet again. Although it’s much sooner than I’ve expected." Terry waved at Lukas and said.

Lukas nodded and replied, "Time is apparently not on our side."

They didn’t have any time to talk before the armored trucks moved off from the airbase.

As the armored trucks moved onto the highway, Lukas could see the Permafrost Peaks in the distance.

It looked magnificent with its peaks covered in snow.

And soon, they would be able to fight the Dark Lord over there.

Lukas didn’t know the objective of the Dark Lord, but one thing he knew for sure is that he would be glad to finish him off.

So many had perished due to the Dark Lord.

Splatter.

A soldier’s head was severed off and flew into the air when he got close to Giuseppe.

And when two other soldiers came at him from the side, Giuseppe raised his arms, and they were sliced into two from their heads.

Plop.

The halves of the two soldiers dropped onto the ground, dyeing the white snow in crimson.

All the other soldiers hesitated for a moment after witnessing such savagery.

A costly mistake in the heat of battle.

Purple glowing chains shot out at them and wrapped themselves onto the bodies of the soldiers.

The soldiers tried to struggle free but couldn’t.

Their faces immediately sunk in and their bodies got too small for their uniforms after all the flesh underneath their skin was gone.

"Pesky flies." Giuseppe said and he walked towards the huge steel gate that was sixty feet high.

It was closed shut and the controls at the side of the steel gate were giving out smoke.

The soldiers had destroyed the control when the position was overwhelmed by Giuseppe, Olivia and the Dark Lord.

Slice.

Parts of the steel gate came off when Giuseppe used his ability.

However, it wasn’t enough.

Giuseppe then leaped back and raised his hands.

After a few moments, he waved his hands down with much force.

Crack.

Hundreds of huge slices could be seen shooting out towards the huge steel gate.

It took out huge chunks of the steel gate when each slice landed onto the gate.

Crack.

Kevin, who was behind the gate, glanced over at his teammate.

Gesturing for them to get ready.

They needed to try and stop the Dark Lord from getting into the base.

His teammates nodded at him and took a deep breath as they heard the steel gate being sliced from the outside.

Boom.

A portion of the steel gate flew into the base.

Giuseppe’s slices had finally gotten through the steel gate.

He entered the base with the Dark Lord and Olivia behind him.

Kevin raised his hand and put it down, his teammates knew from the hand signal that it was time.
