Chapter 58: CAUGHT RED-HANDED
CHAPTER 58: CAUGHT RED-HANDED
WONYOUNG only had five seconds to be depressed.
To be honest, it was embarrassing for him to feel betrayed after seeing Yun Dujun with Lee Heeju together.
After all, An Baekya already told him that the two got married in the ’novel’ after he died.
Hence, he shouldn’t be shocked that Yun Dujun and Lee Heeju were on a date now.
Dujun Sunbae-nim keeps denying his relationship with Heeju Ahjussi, but it’s probably because he hasn’t realized his feelings for Heeju Ahjussi yet.
Probably because Wonyoung was still alive.
I have no intention of dying early this time, but I’ll make sure to leave this marriage soon.
Oh, well.
At least, Yun Yuhyun would still be taken care of.
Since I have no intention of dying early, then my death won’t traumatize my son. So, maybe he’ll grow up properly this time.
That was the end of Wonyoung’s thoughts.
When the music began playing, his body moved automatically to follow the beat.
I have to be the best dancing raccoon tonight!
Or was Wonyoung supposed to be a red panda?
Whatever— they both look the same to me.
Anyway, a legendary performance was born that night.
***
"DADDY, Mr. Red Pawnda is so funny!"
Who?
Yun Dujun just stared at Yun Yuhyun blankly, wondering what his son was talking about.
"Our Yuhyun is talking about the theme park’s mascot," Lee Heeju said, pointing at the mascot dancing while circling around the carousel. "That’s a red panda called Mr. Red Pawnda."
Yun Dujun was in a carousel carriage with Lee Heeju and Yun Yuhyun.
Of course, his son was sitting in the middle.
Yuhyun didn’t want to ride a horse, so we all ended up riding the carousel carriage instead.
While they were in it, the theme park’s cast members were dancing around them.
"That’s a red panda?" Yun Dujun asked, pretty surprised. "I thought it was a raccoon."
Lee Heeju and Yun Yuhyun looked at each other, and then burst out laughing.
Obviously, the two were laughing at Yun Dujun.
He didn’t mind since his mind was already elsewhere.
"I’m sure Bae Wonyoung would also think it was a raccoon and not a red panda."
"Then both Daddy and Papa are silly," Yun Yuhyun said teasingly. "Red pandas are red! Raccoons are not red!"
Right.
In Yun Dujun’s defense, it was pretty dark now, and he couldn’t see well because he had to lower the visor of his cap.
He knew everyone at the theme park had signed an NDA.
But it’s better safe than sorry.
"Daddy, look at Mr. Red Pawnda! Can I borrow your phone?" Yun Yuhyun asked while looking up at Yun Dujun with puppy dog eyes. "I wanna take a video of Mr. Red Pawnda!"
"Sure," Yun Dujun said, and then he unlocked his phone before handing it to Yun Yuhyun. "Take a video of Mr. Raccoon, son."
Yun Yuhyun giggled at Yun Dujun’s silly joke. "He’s a red panda, Daddy!"
Heh.
Yun Dujun was proud that his little joke made his son laugh.
I bet Bae Wonyoung would have found it funny as well.
"That red panda is taking his job seriously," Lee Heeju said while looking at the red panda, clearly amused. "He dances like his life depends on it."
Just one look at the raccoon and Yun Dujun had to agree with Lee Heeju.
The raccoon was holding onto the railings tightly while banging their head so hard it was a miracle that their head costume hadn’t flown away yet.
It was actually funny.
Hence, Yun Dujun wasn’t surprised to see some of the cast members laughing while watching the raccoon banging their head as if they were a rock star on stage.
I can see why my son would want to take a video of the raccoon.
He would have done so if Yun Yuhyun hadn’t volunteered first.
"I should tell the manager to increase the part-timers’ wages tonight— especially the red panda one."
Ah, right.
Lee Heeju’s company owned the theme park.
He’s the one who arranged this whole thing for Yuhyun.
"Triple the raccoon’s salary," Yun Dujun said. "I’ll pay it with my own money. They made my son happy, after all."
"Sure, if that’s what you want," Lee Heeju said. "Mr. Red Pawnda deserves that."
***
"DADDY, LOOK! Mr. Red Pawnda is doing cartwheels!"
"Yes, I’m looking, son," Yun Dujun said. "And I’m impressed."
The raccoon mascot was really doing their best by doing cartwheels in between dance breaks.
We should pay the raccoon at least 10 million won.
Anyway, this time, Yun Dujun was riding a kiddie train with Yun Yuhyun and Lee Heeju.
Since it was a train for kids, the three of them couldn’t fit in the same passenger car.
So, Yun Dujun sat with Yun Yuhyun while Lee Heeju sat in the passenger car before them— while still facing them, of course.
My legs are starting to feel numb because of how cramped the space is.
"What do you want to ride next, Yuhyun-ah?" Lee Heeju asked the kid. "Do you want to ride the Ferris wheel?"
Yun Dujun answered before his son could even open his mouth. "No, we’re not riding the Ferris wheel."
"We’re not?" Yun Yuhyun asked, obviously disappointed. "Why not, Daddy?"
"Riding a Ferris wheel is supposed to be romantic, so I want to do it with Bae Wonyoung first," Yun Dujun explained to his son. "After that, we can ride together with An Baekya, too. So, be patient for now, Yuhyun-ah. Let’s just ride either the boat or the kiddie roller coaster next."
"I wanna ride the kiddie roller coaster! The carousel and this train are slow," Yun Yuhyun said excitedly. "I wish Mr. Red Pawnda could ride with us!"
Yun Dujun just nodded, sharing his son’s sentiments.
It’s impossible because of the size of the mascot, though.
But, to be honest, the raccoon’s dance moves were starting to look familiar.
I wonder where I’ve seen them before.
***
KIDDIE roller coaster.
Boat ride.
Spinning tea cups.
Those were the rides that Yun Dujun, Yun Yuhyun, and Lee Heeju had enjoyed before Yun Yuhyun finally got tired.
So, now, the three of them were snacking on some corndogs while watching the parade.
It was the last show prepared by the cast members.
The cast members wearing costumes were riding a gigantic float decorated with colorful flowers and brilliant lights. While the other cast members— dressed in clothes with blinking lights attached to them— were walking and dancing behind the float.
It was a beautiful show, especially since it was accompanied by an impressive fireworks display.
However, the raccoon didn’t let anything steal the spotlight from him.
"Daddy, Mr. Red Pawnda is dancing weirdly again," Yun Yuhyun said, giggling, while taking a video of the raccoon shaking their booty. "Mr. Red Pawnda, look here!"
Yun Dujun smiled a little when Yun Yuhyun started jumping while waving his hand.
His son’s efforts were rewarded when the raccoon finally faced them.
Then the mascot grabbed the railing and began headbanging again.
Pfft.
As a result, Yun Yuhyun giggled while cheering.
Even Lee Heeju let out a chuckle.
Yun Dujun almost smiled, too.
I wish Bae Wonyoung were here with us.
Yun Dujun was about to ask Lee Heeju to wrap it up since he wanted to go home to his husband, but he stopped when he saw what the raccoon did.
Well, it wasn’t really something unnatural.
The raccoon mascot only bowed, but it was when the raccoon mascot blew them kisses before twirling around that the realization hit him.
Yun Dujun finally remembered why the raccoon’s dance moves looked familiar.
It’s Bae Wonyoung’s signature dance moves during our theatre club days...
***
THE ENVELOPE is pretty thick?
Wonyoung was surprised when the envelope that he got was thicker than he expected.
To be honest, all the cast members who got their pay also seemed surprised by the thick envelopes that they received.
"The boss gave you extra pay," Mr. Choi said smugly while clapping his hands. "The boss is very satisfied with your performance tonight. You all did well, and you deserve that extra pay. So, go home now and treat yourself and your family to something delicious."
Everyone smiled widely and thanked Mr. Choi.
"Wonyoung-ssi, you’re tonight’s VIP. Everyone worked hard, and we can see that it’s because they were influenced by your energy," Mr. Choi said, his face beaming, as he extended a hand to Wonyoung. "I hope we get to work again someday."
Wonyoung smiled and shook Mr. Choi’s hand. "Thank you, sir. Please don’t hesitate to give me a call if you need a part-timer again."
After a little while, Wonyoung finally got his phone back.
And then he left the clubhouse— where the cast members were gathered— with Kim Minseok, who kept yapping next to him.
He wasn’t really listening, though.
Minseok Hyung has already sent me the video of my brilliant dancing, so I don’t really need anything else from him.
Plus, Wonyoung’s mind was elsewhere already.
I should have taken more pictures with my raccoon costume. I’m going to add it to my portfolio. Wait, is it a raccoon? Or a red panda? They look the same to me, so I already forgot.
"Wonyoung-ssi, I can give you a ride home."
"Oh, that won’t be necessary, Minseok Hyung," Wonyoung declined politely while shaking his head. "I already called a taxi. It will be here in a few minutes."
It was dead of night, so booking a taxi was hard.
And it’s very expensive, but a higher fare around this time is understandable.
"Am I making you feel uncomfortable, Wonyoung-ssi?"
To be honest, yes.
Wonyoung could tell that Kim Minseok, a Beta, was attracted to him.
Should I just tell this hyung that I’m already married?
Most men wouldn’t be satisfied with a simple ’no,’ so he had to resort to that.
"Minseok Hyung, actually—"
"Hoobae-nim, I’ve been waiting for you."
Wonyoung’s eyes widened in shock when Yun Dujun suddenly appeared behind him— and the Alpha immediately wrapped a protective arm around his shoulder while shooting Kim Minseok a cold glance.
When did I get caught?
Anyway, that wasn’t important right now.
When Wonyoung looked up, he was relieved to see that Yun Dujun was wearing a cap and a face mask.
But this sunbae-nim didn’t change his voice!
"Uhm, Wonyoung-ssi, do you know that person?"
Whew.
Thank goodness Minseok Hyung didn’t recognize Dujun Sunbae-nim’s voice.
"Yes, Minseok Hyung," Wonyoung said, wrapping an arm around Yun Dujun’s waist while dragging the Alpha away. Fortunately, Yun Dujun let him manhandle him that way. "We’ll go ahead now, Hyung. Good night!"
***
"DID YOU open up your heart to someone you just met for you to call that person ’hyung’ already? You’ve known me for over six years, and yet you still call me ’sunbae-nim.’ You even gave birth to my son, but you can’t change the way you address me."
Aigoo.
Wonyoung rolled his eyes at Yun Dujun’s dramatic rants.
He could do that because he was walking ahead of the Alpha.
"Bae Wonyoung."
"We’re here, Sunbae-nim," Wonyoung said when they finally arrived at the parking lot. Only one fancy car was parked there. Plus, the windows weren’t tinted. Hence, he immediately saw Lee Heeju in the passenger seat and Yun Yuhyun in the backseat. "I already walked you to your car, so I’m leaving now. My taxi will arrive soon."
"Wait, where are you going?" Yun Dujun asked. The Alpha was about to grab him by the wrist, but he seemed to have remembered that Wonyoung hated that. So, he stopped and simply blocked Wonyoung’s way without touching him. "Let’s go home together."
"I’m not sharing a ride with that ahjussi."
"Hoobae-nim."
"I already told you that I don’t feel comfortable with Heeju Ahjussi, Sunbae-nim. I’ll only ride your car if you ask him to leave."
"How can I do that, Hoobae-nim? He’s the one who helped me rent this amusement park. I can’t just ask him to go home on his own."
"I thought so, and that’s why I’m telling you I’m going home alone. I’d rather get into another car accident than share a car ride with Heeju Ahjussi."
Yun Dujun frowned. "Don’t say ominous things like that, Bae Wonyoung."
"Whatever," Wonyoung said, walking past Yun Dujun while waving goodbye to Yun Yuhyun, who waved back while looking confused. "Drive safely, Sunbae-nim."
***
SINCE it’s almost 5AM now, I guess the fish market is already open.
Wonyoung was busy checking which fish market was closest to that area.
My neck hurts from too much headbanging earlier, but An Baekya is waiting for his prawns. So, I should head to the fish market first before going home.
Pretty sure Yun Dujun’s house had prawns and all types of meat.
But I want to buy the kids food with my own money.
Wonyoung got distracted when he heard a car honk.
When he lifted his head, he found the taxi he had booked waiting for him.
Ah, my ride is here.
He immediately crossed the street and entered the taxi, sitting in the backseat.
Wonyoung was about to close the door when, suddenly, someone opened the door wider and quickly entered the taxi— sitting next to Wonyoung, forcing him to scoot over.
He was about to raise hell, but he immediately recognized the person sitting next to him.
"Sunbae-nim?!"
