CHAPTER 85: A LITTLE TEASING

AN BAEKYA lay lazily on his side with a bored expression on his face.

He was barely moving, and he didn’t utter a sound.

So, it wasn’t a surprise when his classmates started looking confused.

I’m supposed to be impersonating an animal, but I’m not really doing anything.

He felt bad for the kids who couldn’t guess what animal he was trying to impersonate, so he decided to give them more clues.

The kids were sitting on the floor, forming a half-circle in front of him.

I shouldn’t make this hard for them.

An Baekya got up and stretched his arms, arching his back like a cat would.

And then he walked on all fours, imitating the animal of his choice.

He then stopped in front of Park Soojung, who suddenly looked flustered.

"W-What?" Park Soojung asked, obviously panicking. "What kind of animal—"

CLANG.

An Baekya tapped the tumbler in front of Park Soojung, causing it to roll on the floor.

Then the girls squealed excitedly.

"Baekya is a cat!"

"I know, right? That’s how our cat acts, too."

"M-My cat is also grumpy and lazy, like how B-Baekya is acting earlier..."

"Baekya, did your classmates get it right?" Coach Kwon Taeyoo asked, smiling. "Are you acting as a cat right now?"

An Baekya nodded. "Yes, Coach. I’m a cat."

"Very well," Coach Kwon Taeyoo said, clearly satisfied. Then he got up from his seat and clapped his hands. "Everyone, you did a good job. And since all of you did well, we’re going to have P*kachu Tonkatsu as a snack."

The kids cheered happily.

’P*kachu Tonkatsu’ was a famous breaded and deep-fried pork cutlet shaped like the famous character from P*kemon.

Right, it’s a famous snack among children at this time.

"Don’t worry. I already asked your parents and guardians in advance. They said you can eat pork cutlet, so I already ordered them," Coach Kwon Taeyoo said. "Let’s talk about how each one of you did during the activity while waiting for our food."

The kids answered at the same time, except for An Baekya.

"Yes, Coach!"

***

OH, BABIES.

Wonyoung couldn’t help but smile while staring at the children who were looking up at him with sparkling eyes.

He immediately recognized Park Soojung and Park Soojin.

The twins have already appeared in several dramas, after all.

"Appa, these are my classmates."

An Baekya then introduced his classmates one by one.

As expected, Wonyoung was right about Park Soojung and Park Soojin.

The two little girls were called Jang Aecha and Kim Bora.

Aww.

They all look adorable.

"Hello, kids," Wonyoung greeted the children, squatting down to meet their eye level. "I’m An Baekya’s father. It’s nice to meet you. You can just call me ’Uncle Wonyoung.’"

The children greeted him back politely.

"Uncle, you’re so pretty!"

"I-I think Uncle is more on the handsome side..."

"Uncle is both pretty and handsome."

Aww.

Wonyoung felt a little shy while the kids kept showering him with praises.

Until...

"But you don’t look like An Baekya, Uncle."

Oh?

That was Park Soojung.

Wonyoung suddenly got nervous.

Can kids tell that An Baekya and I aren’t blood-related?

"Uncle is big and tall, but An Baekya is small and very thin," Park Soojung said, his brows furrowed. "An Baekya said he’s 5 years old. But he looks 3!"

An Baekya wasn’t that small to be mistaken for a 3-year-old.

But, whew.

So, that’s the problem— not because I don’t look like An Baekya.

"Baekya eats a lot, and he likes vegetables. It’s only a matter of time before he grows taller than me," Wonyoung assured Park Soojung. "Thank you for worrying about my son, Soojung-ah."

Park Soojung’s face turned red. "U-Uncle, you got it wrong. I wasn’t worried about An Baekya!"

Aigoo.

"If you say so," Wonyoung said, smiling. "But I’m happy that you’re paying attention to my son. Since you’re older than An Baekya, you’re like an older brother to him. I’d be grateful if you could look after my baby, Soojung-ah."

"I-I can do that, Uncle," Park Soojung said, beaming. "I’m the oldest in this class, so that makes me everyone’s hyung and oppa!"

"Uncle, I’m Baekya’s noona," Park Soojin said excitedly. "I’ll take care of him!"

"Me, too," Jang Aecha said while nodding. "Baekya is the maknae, so he’s our baby."

Kim Bora nodded eagerly, but she seemed to be too shy to say anything this time.

Wonyoung was touched by the kids’ enthusiasm.

I’m glad that they seem to like Baekya.

***

’CONGRATULATIONS on passing your two auditions, Wonyoung-ssi."

Wonyoung smiled and nodded. "Thank you, Coach."

Right now, the two of them were having coffee in the mentor’s office.

Wonyoung met the kids’ parents who picked them up earlier.

They all seem nice people, thankfully.

Anyway, he didn’t go home right away because he wanted to share the good news with the coach.

On the other hand, An Baekya was already waiting in the car with Han Myung and George.

So, I can’t keep this conversation going for long.

"Coach, how was An Baekya after meeting his classmates?" Wonyoung asked worriedly. "I can tell that his classmates like him. But is it the same for my son?"

"I wouldn’t say that An Baekya was actively befriending his classmates," Coach Kwon Taeyoo said while shaking his head. "It’s more like he’s tolerating his new friends."

Oh.

To be honest, Wonyoung wasn’t surprised to hear that.

In An Baekya’s defense, he has the mentality of an adult. So, it’s pretty hard for him to befriend ’babies.’ Unfortunately, only I know the truth.

Hence, An Baekya may appear rude or difficult to other people.

"Coach, you know An Baekya’s background. Because he experienced years of abuse, so he became distant," Wonyoung said carefully. "Coach, aside from teaching my son how to act, can you also help him open up to his classmates?"

"Of course, Wonyoung-ssi," Coach Kwon Taeyoo said, smiling while nodding. "I’ll do my best to help An Baekya not only become an excellent actor, but also a good person."

***

"APPA, congratulations."

"Thank you, Baekya," Wonyoung said. The two of them were now headed home, sitting in the backseat of the car that Han Myung was driving (George drove the car that he used to bring An Baekya to the academy earlier). "Should we buy a cake to celebrate? I want to have a party with everyone at home."

He meant the household staff members, of course.

"That sounds like a good idea, Appa," An Baekya said. "Let’s also buy food for everyone while we’re at it."

"Should we?" Wonyoung then looked at Han Myung through the rearview mirror. "Myung-ssi, do you think Chef Park and the kitchen staff will be offended if we come home with take-out food?"

"Not at all, sir. I’m sure they’ll appreciate an unexpected day off," Han Myung answered. "It will be nice if we give them a heads up, though. They usually start prepping early for dinner. Should I call them while you buy some cake, Wonyoung-nim?"

"Yes, please," Wonyoung said, nodding. "Thank you, Myung-ssi."

A few moments later, they found a pastry shop with pretty cakes on display.

Wonyoung and An Baekya entered the store while holding hands.

He immediately noticed that most customers inside— mostly women— suddenly stopped and stared at them.

And they started whispering among themselves.

"Are they celebrities?"

"Is there a filming nearby?"

"Look at that face..."

"Shocking visuals!"

"I can’t tell if he’s an Alpha or not..."

"Hey, the child looks so cute!"

"I wonder if they are brothers...?"

Heh.

Wonyoung did his best to stop himself from grinning after hearing all those compliments.

I love how people notice An Baekya’s loveliness.

***

WONYOUNG had received a lot of congratulations that night from the household staff members who celebrated with him.

They drank a little, but he made sure he wouldn’t get wasted.

That was how he was able to shower and change into his pajamas without an accident.

He thought he could rest after that.

However, Wonyoung found himself having a video call with a sulking Yun Dujun.

Aigoo.

"Am I the last person to know that you passed both auditions?"

Yep, that was the reason why Yun Dujun was throwing a tantrum.

"I’m sorry, Sunbae-nim," Wonyoung said, his voice sounding a little sleepy. In short, it was obvious that he was a bit tipsy. "I didn’t know what your schedule was, so I didn’t call you in fear of interrupting your vacation."

"Hoobae-nim, you know that you’ll never be a bother to me."

"Well, I know that now."

"Did you drink?"

"Just a little."

"With whom?"

"With Baekya and all the staff members here at home."

"I don’t like it."

"That’s a ’you’ problem, Sunbae-nim."

"You’re being really mean to me right now, Bae Wonyoung."

Pfft.

Wonyoung couldn’t help but laugh.

Yes, Yun Dujun was being annoying.

But I still find him cute.

Wonyoung didn’t know if being a little drunk made him horny, but he suddenly felt the urge to tease Yun Dujun.

"Sunbae-nim."

"What?"

"Are you alone right now?"

"Yes. I had a business call with someone, so I stayed at the igloo. Yun Yuhyun went with Hyung-nim’s family. Why are you asking?"

Igloo?

Wonyoung was too horny to process that part, so he just continued with his flirting: "Sunbae-nim, should I help you warm your body up?" he asked teasingly while unbuttoning his pajama top. "And, if I do, will you stop sulking?"

Yun Dujun’s eyes darkened, his gaze sultry now.

"I wasn’t sulking— but I’ll take you up on that offer, Bae Wonyoung."
