I Really Didn’t Want to Be a Trainer
Chapter 547: Giratina and the Sky Warrior: The Man Who Rode the Renegade Pokémon (2)
Brilliant white light blossomed in the Reverse World, transforming into chains that enveloped Lu Ye and Haunter. A powerful gust swept through as Ash and the others stared in shock.
"So powerful..." Dr. Newton Graceland swallowed hard. "Emotional energy!"
The Team Rocket trio gritted their teeth, looking down at their Poké Balls.
"Meowth, hurry up and help the boss!" James shouted.
"M-Meowth can't fight!" Meowth cried tearfully.
"Wobbuffet, I choose you!" Jessie threw her Poké Ball.
Wobbuffet broke into a cold sweat but still shielded Jessie and the others, trembling all over.
At the same moment, the white light dissipated.
Mega Haunter's eyes gleamed crimson, its body covered in sharp spikes, an additional eye opening on its forehead as its lower half merged with shadows. It bared its fangs in a fierce grin:
"Gengarrr!!"
Shadows surged like a storm, sweeping past Giratina. The Renegade Pokémon flapped its wings, dodging the encroaching darkness.
"Mega Haunter's Shadow Tag can even affect Giratina to some extent... Wait!"
Dr. Newton widened his eyes, trembling as he looked at the Pokémon beside Lu Ye. "Th-That's—"
"The Mythical Pokémon, Marshadow of the shadows?!"
Marshadow clenched its tiny fists and suddenly shot toward the floating Giratina, its punches landing like a blur!
"Marsha marsha!!"
Fist after fist sent ripples across Giratina's body, cracking its energy barrier-like armor.
Giratina's cold eyes gleamed as it swung its spiked, dark-gold tail at Marshadow, sending the small fighter crashing into a floating rock formation.
BOOM!
At the same time, Mega Haunter finished gathering a Dark Void in its hands, drawing in surrounding shadow energy before hurling it at Giratina!
"Roar!" Giratina showed rare hesitation, vanishing into the shadows to evade the incoming black hole.
The next moment, it reappeared behind Haunter, shattering Mega Haunter's Protect barrier in one strike!
Shadow Force!
"Marsha!!" Marshadow raised its head and shouted, flames flickering in its eyes as its body ignited in yellow-green fire.
Full Power Mode—Marshadow!
BOOM!!
Golden energy waves radiated from Marshadow as it soared into the air, seven dazzling orbs of light forming around it.
One after another, the orbs bombarded Giratina, making its energy barrier tremble!
Giratina's eyes burned red as it absorbed surrounding energy, unleashing a barrage of Shadow Balls!
The shockwaves of the attack surged toward Lu Ye and the others.
"Wobbuffet, Counter!" Jessie commanded.
"So~nansu!" Wobbuffet's body glowed with Mirror Coat, reflecting the Shadow Ball's residual energy!
Lu Ye's eyelid twitched.
As expected of you, Wobbuffet!
"We have to hold out until dawn," Ash said through gritted teeth, cradling the frightened Shaymin. "At least another hour!"
Lu Ye's expression darkened when he suddenly sensed familiar energy and looked up sharply.
A rift tore open in the void, revealing a shadowy figure.
White mist swirled as Darkrai floated midair, its black ribbon fluttering in the wind.
Lu Ye: "Holy crap, what are you doing here?"
Darkrai roared: "How was I supposed to know you'd actually provoke something like this?!"
No time for small talk—Darkrai formed a distorted black hole in its hands and clashed head-on with Giratina.
The resulting shockwave rocked the entire Reverse World, leaving Dr. Newton stunned.
J-Just who is this Lu Ye?!
Commanding three shadow-aligned Pokémon simultaneously... joining forces against the ruler of the Reverse World, Giratina!!
BOOM!
Darkrai was sent flying, smashing through a floating rock before wiping blood from its mouth.
"Not bad, Giratina."
Darkrai's deep blue eyes glowed once more as it charged back into the fray!
The outside world was affected as well. Brock and Flint found an entrance to the Reverse World.
The moment they stepped onto a floating platform, they witnessed a sight they would never forget—
Teacher Lu, standing alone before Giratina.
In the darkened sky, Darkrai, Mega Haunter, and Full Power Marshadow worked together to withstand Giratina's furious assault and counterattack!
"What kind of monster is Teacher Lu?!"
Flint's eyelid spasmed. "He's actually suppressing Giratina?!"
"While also protecting everyone..." Brock glanced at Wobbuffet, Ash, and Team Rocket, understanding dawning.
It was because of his companions.
That was why Teacher Lu could fight without restraint!
The deafening roar of battle echoed in Marshadow's ears.
It had forgotten its role as an examiner, lost in the thrill of battle, throwing punch after punch.
"Marsha!!" Marshadow clenched its fists, yellow-green flames blazing in its eyes.
At that moment, the Rainbow Wing in Teacher Lu's pocket erupted in radiant light!
"Marsha?" Marshadow froze, looking at the [Faded Rainbow Wing] it held.
Wait, didn't I already steal the Rainbow Wing?
Lu Ye held up the glowing feather, smiling apologetically. "That one was a decoy. This is the real one."
Marshadow: "..."
The next second, Marshadow roared and charged at Giratina.
I acknowledge you!
The wise and courageous (or utterly devious) Rainbow Hero!!
The Rainbow Wing shone brilliantly as sunlight pierced the clouds—dawn had arrived in the Reverse World.
"It's morning..." Ash murmured.
The timid Shaymin, nestled in his arms, sniffed the beautiful Gracidea flower before being enveloped in pure white light.
"Evolution light?" Team Rocket gasped in unison.
"During the day, Shaymin transforms into its Sky Forme," Dr. Newton explained. "Filled with gratitude, it becomes brave, strong, and fearless."
"And if there's anything worth being grateful for—"
Dr. Newton glanced at Teacher Lu's back, then at Darkrai, Marshadow, and Mega Haunter. He smiled.
"It would be the trainers' faith and courage!"
Now.
The Rainbow Hero.
Teacher Lu tightened his grip on the Rainbow Wing, looking up at Shaymin's Sky Forme.
"Shaymin will take care of this, right?" Shaymin said bravely.
"Then I'll leave it to you!" Lu Ye echoed its tone with a smile.
Darkrai roared: "Enough chit-chat, I'm getting my ass kicked here!"
"Marsha!" Marshadow shouted.
Brilliant light poured into the Reverse World, embodying the trainers' courage and bonds, forging a new path forward.
Teacher Lu shouted: "Shaymin, Seed Flare!!"
Pure light illuminated the entire Reverse World.
Hatred, rage, hostility—all negative emotions were drawn into Shaymin as Giratina's eyes gradually cleared.
Then.
Shaymin converted the negativity into a dazzling Seed Flare, opening a passage out of the Reverse World!
Sunlight streamed in from outside.
For a moment, silence reigned.
Teacher Lu stood silhouetted against the light, his broad back casting three elongated shadows—Haunter, Marshadow, and Darkrai.
He turned and said calmly: "Done."
"I, Teacher Lu, solved it." Lu Ye patted his own shoulder, grinning.
"Teacher Lu is amazing!!" Ash yelled, tackling him in a hug.
"Shay~" Shaymin fluttered joyfully in the air as everyone finally relaxed.
Giratina hovered silently, observing this extraordinary trainer before bowing its head.
『My apologies, human.』
"How about a massage... er, Aura treatment?" Lu Ye offered.
Giratina stiffened momentarily before relaxing with an involuntary sigh.
Damn, that hits the spot!
『I shall return you to your world.』
Then it lowered its dark-gold head to inspect the deer-like Shaymin:
『Thank you, little one.』
"Shaymin got brave too!" Shaymin looked up with a smile.
Darkrai side-eyed Lu Ye. "Listen, this isn't over unless I get at least seven or eight batches of Pokéblocks."
Lu Ye raised an eyebrow. "I am grateful though. Want a Gracidea flower instead?"
Darkrai lifted its chin proudly. "Hmph, it was nothing."
"I told you before, even if it were Arceus—" Darkrai abruptly shut its mouth.
No way... He wouldn't actually drag Arceus into this, right...
Marshadow reverted to its normal form, eyeing the radiant Rainbow Wing in Lu Ye's hand.
Had Ho-Oh acknowledged him?
Then my duty as examiner ends here—
Lu Ye placed a hand on Marshadow's head. "Let's get out of here first!"
Marshadow blinked up at him before nodding slightly.
『Human.』
Giratina looked at Lu Ye.
『One more matter requires your assistance.』
Lu Ye froze at the sound of glaciers cracking.
Meeting Giratina's gaze, understanding dawned.
"Then let's make it an equal exchange," Lu Ye said.
After hearing his proposal, Giratina's expression shifted before it reluctantly nodded...
......
Outside, Gracidea flower field.
The Reverse World's exit opened as Ash and the others stepped through first.
"What's Teacher Lu discussing with Giratina?" Ash wondered.
"No idea," Brock shrugged.
Flint was about to interject when his eyes widened, pointing at the exit.
"L-Look!!"
From the mirror-like rift, Giratina emerged, its black-red wings spread majestically.
A human rode on the back of the Reverse World's ruler, soaring toward Mt. Coronet.
"That's Teacher Lu?!" Brock's eyes nearly popped out.
"Why is the boss riding Giratina?!" Team Rocket huddled together in shock.
"Don't tell me... he caught Giratina too?!" Dr. Newton's jaw dropped.
Golden sunlight bathed Giratina, Teacher Lu, and the vibrant flower field.
The group stood in awe, emotions swirling—reverence, astonishment, admiration.
In the distance, glaciers rumbled as a red glow erupted from Snowpoint Temple.
......
Under clear skies, the platinum-gold Giratina flew across the mortal world with Lu Ye on its back, his clothes fluttering in the wind.
"Kinda scared of heights..." Lu Ye muttered, tightening his grip on Giratina.
Giratina's eyes gleamed as it spoke slowly:
『The Reverse World's influence threatens Mt. Coronet's glaciers... I cannot ignore this.』
This matched the movie's plot, so Lu Ye was mentally prepared.
Nodding, he couldn't resist asking: "So did you actually beat Dialga?"
Giratina's expression darkened.
『Once this is resolved, I'll make it pay.』
The Sinnoh legendary trilogy indeed!
"Mind pretending you never met me when that happens..." Lu Ye said sheepishly.
Giratina: ?
In a flash, Mt. Coronet loomed ahead.
This wasn't their destination, so Giratina flew past.
Bug-type Elite Four Aaron, riding a Yanmega, did a double-take at the sight.
"Am I hallucinating?" He rubbed his eyes.
Lucian looked up and stiffened, sensing danger—until he recognized the figure speeding by.
"Holy shit!" he blurted. "Only you, Teacher Lu!"
Giratina's overwhelming aura sent wild Pokémon across Mt. Coronet trembling.
Cynthia, initially startled by the dark-gold streak passing overhead, froze when she spotted the trainer riding it.
Her lips parted slightly as a soft smile eventually graced her features.
"I told you, Grandma. He could do it."
Cynthia whispered to herself.
"Because he's Lu Ye."
......
Teacher Lu recalled that in the movie's climax, the Reverse World's distortions caused Mt. Coronet's glaciers to collapse.
Hence, he and Giratina raced toward the mountains.
Compared to the Temporal-Spatial Twin Dragons, at least Giratina had a stronger sense of responsibility.
Mt. Coronet, Snowpoint Temple.
Brandon wiped his brow contentedly while overseeing restoration work.
Just a few more days and the repairs would be complete...
Suddenly, the temple shook violently.
Sensing the impending disaster, the stone orb emitted a red glow—Regigigas reactivated!!
Brandon stared dumbfounded as Snowpoint Temple crumbled, muttering:
"Goddammit..."
Then he spotted the dark-gold beast descending from the sky—with a familiar figure on its back.
"T-Teacher Lu?!" he stammered.
Lu Ye directed Giratina to land, waving. "What a coincidence, Brandon!"
"You, I..." Brandon looked between Lu Ye and Giratina. "This Pokémon is..."
Brandon: "Bl-bl-bl-bl..."
Giratina's crimson eyes locked onto the awakened Regigigas, sensing palpable threat from the Colossal Pokémon.
Should they fight... or prioritize stopping the disaster...
As Giratina hesitated, Lu Ye strode toward Regigigas and casually activated Aura.
Giratina's jaw dropped as the metallic giant turned, its signal lights flashing wildly before greeting Lu Ye amiably.
Regigigas: "Regi—"
Lu Ye smiled up at the 30-foot-tall titan. "Long time no see."
Giratina stood frozen.
Wasn't I the one who brought you here to stop the glaciers?
Why are you two so chummy?!
Lu Ye waved at Giratina. "Don't worry, Regigigas will handle the rest!"
"Regi—"
Regigigas extended a massive palm for Lu Ye to stand on, nodding at Giratina.
Giratina: "..."
Why do I feel... oddly jealous?
CRASH!
A massive glacier bore down as Lu Ye stood atop Regigigas' head, shielded by an energy barrier.
Teacher Lu's heart raced.
My dream of piloting a mecha... came true today!
BOOM!!
Regigigas braced against the glacier with both hands, its tremendous strength halting the advance—though it was forced back half a step.
From his perch, Teacher Lu unleashed a trainer's ultimate skill—
"Hang in there, Regigigas!"
"REGIIII—!!" Regigigas' lights flashed wildly as its hands dug into the ice, feet carving deep trenches!
Suddenly, thunderous rumbling echoed across the plains.
Responding to nature's crisis, countless wild Pokémon surged from Mt. Coronet, forming a living dam against the glacier!
The crisis was averted.
Aaron, Bertha, and Lucian collectively exhaled, turning to news broadcasts for answers.
"Snowpoint Temple's glacier suddenly collapsed! The legendary giant awakens!!"
A Snowpoint City reporter stood perilously close to the advancing ice, broadcasting live:
"We can see Regigigas holding back the glacier... and there appears to be a trainer directing it! What is that winged, dark-gold creature? Is it also obeying his commands?!"
Brandon watched from the plains, utterly awestruck.
Giratina. Regigigas.
Following Teacher Lu's lead?!
"Rumors said Teacher Lu alone stopped the Temporal-Spatial Twin Dragons in White Poplar Town..."
Brandon murmured. "Now... I believe it."
BOOM!!!
The glacier halted before a winding river as Regigigas stopped, revealing a breathtaking flower field behind it.
"Shay~~~"
Flocks of Shaymin danced among the flowers in their Migration Dance, leaving everyone spellbound.
"So beautiful..." Ash whispered.
Lu Ye stood atop Regigigas, sharing a smile with Giratina hovering above.
The Renegade Pokémon nodded before flying toward the river, vanishing into the mirror-like surface.
Exhausted, Lu Ye sat in Regigigas' palm as it gently lowered him to the ground.
"Regi—"
"Don't mention it."
Lu Ye chuckled before collapsing into the flower field with a long sigh.
"I hate thank-yous anyway..."
A magnificent rainbow arched over the flowers, glacier, river, and ruined structures.
Far in the sky, a rainbow-hued figure soared past, scattering glittering light.
Marshadow gazed quietly at this fearless, formidable, brilliant Rainbow Hero...
"Marsha!" Marshadow smiled faintly.
Congratulations, Rainbow Hero.
"Not bad, kid," Darkrai floated nearby, offering rare praise.
"Aren't you returning to White Poplar Town?" Lu Ye side-eyed it.
"Of course I am," Darkrai said. "Just helping out... Five batches of Pokéblocks isn't too much, right?"
Teacher Lu: "Scram!"
Darkrai: "(¬_¬) Fine, I'll help you again next time."
Lu Ye's expression turned complicated.
The system's long-absent notification chimed in his ear.
