Chapter 28: A Car Accident

Muyang had always liked Ultraman Mebius. It told a story where Ultraman and humans grew together—a narrative he deeply hoped could come true. In such a world, humans could also lend strength to Ultramen, and there would be more kindness among people.

This was what both Muyang and the Ultramen wished to see. If things were like in Ultraman Nexus (officially translated as “Nexus”, not “Nexas”, though he used to think so too), where humans constantly attacked Nexus, then such a defence force might as well be wiped out entirely.

Especially that so-called Seer or whatever—they should have just been slapped to death. A bunch of brainless fools. Even the existence of Dark Zagi was partly their fault. Truly, the greed of man knows no bounds.

Still, life had to go on. In the blink of an eye, a month had passed, during which quite a few things had happened.

For instance, people could now be seen on television promoting Ultraman, explaining how the original Ultraman, Ultraseven, and Jack had protected Earth over the years. Some even began envisioning a future where humans travelled freely through the universe.

Of course, there were also some idiots bringing up untimely nonsense about how Ultraman was a threat. They claimed humans shouldn’t trust Ultramen, that they were trying to enslave mankind or something, and that humans should capture and study Ultramen to understand their powers. However, these opinions didn’t gain much traction.

Muyang understood—some people had started to take action. Just like Captain Hoshimizu, there were quite a few smart individuals among humanity’s top brass. Perhaps they were also intimidated by Zoffy’s stance at the edge of the solar system back then. Overall, the public opinion machine was improving.

Sometimes, propaganda and education truly are the most important things.

Muyang hadn’t been idle during this time either.

“Mu-kun, you’re just too amazing. I still don’t know how you train!” said the young man standing before Muyang, helplessly lowering his wooden sword with a wry smile.

“I’ve only been practising casually,” Muyang replied, showing no concern at all over having just defeated one of the top three kendo practitioners in Yingzhou.

Muyang had never studied kendo before, and with nothing else to do, he had joined a fairly large kendo dojo near the Sakata residence to kill time. Unexpectedly, he encountered this young man. After multiple encounters, they got to know each other. Initially, Muyang could only rely on his outstanding physical abilities and combat instincts to hold his own. But as he deepened his understanding of swordsmanship, his opponent could no longer keep up.

Originally, Muyang had wanted to study martial arts at the Rabbit Family school, but upon investigation, he discovered that the Rabbit school had long since abolished formal martial arts, retaining only the performance-based kind—not the kind for killing. After all, fighting was illegal there, so how could they allow the spread of deadly skills? Unity, harmony, and civility were the Rabbit Family’s core principles. (Said by a certain kung fu superstar.)

Unless Muyang was willing to go to some special government organisation or seek out reclusive masters, it would be quite difficult.

The young man gave another bitter smile. He was already considered a prodigy, but when faced with someone like Muyang, he truly felt powerless. Muyang had started from zero in kendo and had even secretly picked up a bit from him. Yet Muyang had already developed his own sword style.

Of course, Muyang still relied more on his physical prowess and combat awareness, but wasn’t that precisely his strength?

“Muyang-oniisan! Something terrible has happened!” Just as Muyang was about to pack up and leave, Jirō came running over in a panic.

“What’s wrong?” Muyang turned to look at Jirō. Was something wrong again? This trouble-prone kid seemed to always run into one issue or another.

“The hospital just called—Onee-chan was in a car accident!” Jirō cried anxiously.

“What?!” Muyang gasped and immediately grabbed Jirō’s hand, rushing out the door without even bothering to change clothes.

He was on very good terms with the Sakata family and had received a great deal of care from them recently. Now that something had happened to them, how could he possibly stand by and do nothing?

He had been intentionally keeping an eye on them, but he couldn’t possibly follow them every minute of the day. To think it still happened…

“Something happened?” Muyang’s sparring partner gave a wry smile but didn’t say anything about Muyang’s abrupt departure. For some reason, he had a strange feeling—like he might never see Muyang again.

“How’s your sister doing?” Muyang asked while running.

“I don’t know yet… but it’s really serious!” Jirō’s eyes were already turning red. He had lost his parents when he was very young, and it was his older brother and sister who had raised him. To him, his sister was like a mother.

“Where’s your brother?” Muyang narrowed his eyes as he asked.

“He’s getting the car ready. Said he’ll take us there together.” Since they lived near the Sakata residence, that made sense.

“This is bad. Your brother’s in danger! Jirō, hurry!” Muyang’s expression changed drastically as he shouted. He picked up speed, and killing intent surged in his heart.

He remembered—the culprit behind this was a Nakelian. Those damned cosmic scum… he had already decided to kill them.

“What?!” Jirō exclaimed in shock. Before he could react, he found that Muyang had already lifted him by the collar and was dashing down the street like a gale.

So this is how amazing Muyang-oniisan really was?
