CHAPTER 78: CHAPTER 78: SHIV’S CHALLENGE(BONUS CHAPTER)
"How can you be so sure?"
Shiv’s eyes narrowed.
Seeing Alex stealing his spotlight yet again and preventing him from showing off he could not resist questioning him.
"Do you perhaps have the authority to make her a permanent employee?" Shiv pressed, his voice dripping with disdain at his bragging. "Otherwise by what ability you are so sure that she can get the annual salary of five hundred thousand?"
Inwardly, Shiv sneered.
A mere security guard, boasting like this? Where does his confidence come from? Such arrogance... truly laughable.
He shook his head clear contempt curling on his lips.
"There should be a limit to your bragging."
But Alex remained unfazed by the taunt. His tone stayed calm, almost casual.
"This does not seem difficult for me," he said softly. "It can be done."
For a second Shiv froze at his claim but then Shiv burst into laughter.
"Who do you think you are? Do not talk nonsense!"
Alex, however, only shrugged at him.
"Then let’s wait and see the results," he said evenly.
His calm dismissal stung Shiv pride.
Feeling ignored he could not stop himself but to snapped in anger.
"If I will not help her. Let’s see how you plan to get Priyanshi a permanent job without me!"
At that, Priyanshi’s delicate face flushed red with fury.
"Are you out of your mind?
He gave you a ride out of kindness and for my sake! And you are still mocking him?" she scolded sharply.
Shiv only sneered at her, doubling down on his contempt.
"A security guard should know his place, he should be at the very bottom of society.
And yet he pretends he has the power to help someone earn hundreds of thousands. What a joke."
Unmoved by the insult Alex shook his head.
"Then let me see how you’ll make Priyanshi a permanent employee."
Shiv’s eyes gleamed with satisfaction.
"That’s exactly what I have been waiting for!"
He felt triumphant.
Not only in this way could he humiliate Alex in front of Priyanshi, but he could also make himself look like the hero.
Killing two birds with one stone—perfect.
---
Alex parked his Volkswagen simply at the entrance and followed them upstairs.
Shiv, Priyanshi, and Navya all entered the elevator together, ascending toward the top floor with expressions of nervous anticipation on their faces.
As the elevator reached the top floor it opened to reveal the corridor.
Dozens of interns from Khapar Law Firm were waiting their turn of papers.
The final step for interns to become permanent worker was simple: attend the interview room’s final review to secure full-time worker status.
Khapar Law Firm was one of the country’s top firms, there was simply no case they could not handle, no lawsuit they could not win.
Employees at the Firm enjoyed benefits that are enviable to the ordinary people:
A starting salary of half a million a year, generous perks, annual bonuses, profit-sharing at the end of the year, and regular paid leave.
For many, securing a position at Khapar Law Firm was a career dream come true.
Looking around at the crowd of eager applicants, Navya face showed a flicker of worry about her internship what if she was not chosen this time?
Priyanshi drew in a steadying breath and said calmly, "Don’t worry, Navya.
Your interview has gone really well, and I worked hard during my internship too for this job.
And I firmly believe in Khapar Law Firm that they will judge us fairly based on capabilities."
Shiv smirked at that but kept his thoughts to himself.
Just then, a group of staff in matching Firm uniforms arrived who are escorting a middle-aged woman who walked with her chin held high and an air of arrogance in her.
Instantly, whether they were the applicants or interns they all straightened up seeing her, each trying to look at their best form.
The woman was named Kritika Devi, the HR manager of the Khapar Law Firm, and the mother of Shiv.
Sure enough upon seeing her, Shiv quickly stepped forward with an eager wave at her direction.
Mrs. Devi frowned at his son for a moment, then pulled him hurriedly into a side room for a private conversation with him.
Inside, Shiv pleaded to her mother to make Priyanshi a permanent employee and to put in a good word for Navya as an intern too.
Seeing her son pleading so profusely, she couldn’t help but agree to him.
When he finally emerged from the room cabin, he was grinning from ear to ear with a exaggerated smile.
Seeing him coming Navya couldn’t help herself from asking anxiously, "How did it go?".
"No problem at all," Shiv boasted shamelessly. "When I handle things, they always work out."
"Unlike certain someone who only like to talk big."
He went on bragging loudly, boasting about his connections with his mother.
He boasted how his mother was the one in charge of hiring this time interns, and how he could get anyone through the door if he wanted.
But his arrogant voice carried over to some unwanted ears.
Several other applicants overheard every word. Their expressions shifted on their faces, a ripple of indignation spreading through the group.
Someone even manage to record his voice of boasting.
Watching all this unfold from the sidelines, Alex only smiled faintly eagerly anticipating about the outcome.
From the expression on the other applicants there was bound to happen some trouble.
If someone reported Shiv’s words which he is sure of, it could cause a scandal for not only his mother but it will also bound to damage the reputation of the firm.
What a fool—always stirring up problems wherever he went.
Priyanshi, however, remained silent.
She focused not on the nonsense of Shiv but instead on preparing for the final assessment that would decide which interns became full employees.
Originally, Alex had not intended to get involved in this farce. But seeing the situation escalate, he quietly began making his own plans.
