As the sun began to set on this early evening, Moslin, who had been lying on the armchair at Iola's boarding house, lifted his head as they arrived.

“Where’s Ranken?”

“Hasn’t he come yet?”

“He left saying he was going to find you. Didn’t you meet him?”

“No. He didn’t say where he was going, so maybe we missed each other.”

Without telling them his destination, it was inevitable that they would miss him. Viretta replied indifferently and sat down.@@novelbin@@

Moslin yawned and looked at Iola.

“If you were looking for a place for a date, he would have probably gone to Allong Tea House at 12 Jenis Street. Did he go somewhere else?”

“No, he was there. Is it famous?”

“They say all the students from the Math Institute go there for their first dates. There’s some sort of legend about it, though, I suppose they just follow the trend like everyone else.”

“It seems like the great wizard is testing the memory of a slave. Didn’t you say the Bright Wedding Tea is a couple-only product?”

When Moslin failed to recall the story, Saffron, who had quietly stepped out of the room, intervened.

The explanations from Saffron and Moslin were worlds apart.

“Yeah, so, among the Math Institute students, drinking the Bright Wedding Tea at Allong Tea House for the first date has become a basic custom. It’s a short story, so I’m sure you remember, you’re testing my memory now, aren’t you?”

“That’s just mindlessly following a trend.”

“Heh, don’t you think it sounds more like the best preparation for a first date, as a student of the Math Institute? A cultured intellectual would certainly understand your words well, Moslin, but if you’re not careful, it might come across as an attempt to start an argument.”

Saffron gave Moslin a sinister smile and glared at him.

Viretta, feeling sympathy for his desperate attempt to avoid conflict, looked at him with pity.
