I Was Found Out Pretending To Be a Rookie in a Paranormal World?!
Chapter 6 – Terrifying in the Dark
The sky was about to darken, and Jiang Che began making some preparations.
He had watched plenty of horror movies, where strange things often appeared at night.
Someone standing outside the window, something lying under the bed, a human skin hanging in the wardrobe...
There might even be six dark-skinned people coming to carry you away.
Jiang Che was not one to sit idly by.
So, he first locked the doors and windows and placed a teacup on the doorknob.
Then he tossed his smelly socks under the bed, went to the bathroom, and finally lay down to sleep.
"Tick, tock, tick, tock..."
The clock on the wall ticked crisply, and the old quilt smelled a bit musty.
7:30 PM.
The sky was completely dark.
Jiang Che lay on the bed with his eyes closed, wrapped in the quilt.
A cold, moldy atmosphere quietly spread.
Time passed by the second.
Everything seemed calm.
It was unclear how much time had passed.
"Tap, tap, tap..." Footsteps sounded outside the door.
Then, "Knock, knock, knock!"
A series of knocks on the door!
'Is it here?' Jiang Che's heart tightened, but he still didn't open his eyes.
"Knock, knock."
"Knock, knock, knock!!!"
The knocking became urgent.
Suddenly, there was a crash!
Something broke!
It was the teacup on the doorknob!
Did the cup fall because of the door's vibration?
Just as Jiang Che was thinking that.
"Creak..."
The door was pushed open.
"Tap, tap, tap..."
Something walked into the room.
Jiang Che's heart was in his throat.
His right hand, hidden under the quilt, tightly gripped a pair of scissors.
But soon, the footsteps disappeared.
Everything returned to calm.
'Is it over?'
'Is that it?'
Just as Jiang Che breathed a sigh of relief.
Suddenly, a cold wind blew on his ear.
"Whoosh, whoosh..."
Very light.
Like breathing...
Something was crouching at the head of the bed, blowing air into his ear!
Then, a sudden chill came from his feet!
The thing in the room had lifted the quilt!
'Damn!' Jiang Che didn't dare move, keeping his eyes tightly shut.
In the Mystic World, as long as you follow the rules and mechanisms, most of the time, there won't be any danger.
And just then, a familiar laugh sounded.
"Hahaha, Che, you look so scared!"
Fatty Zhang?
Wasn't that the voice of his best friend and desk mate, Zhang Wei, Fatty Zhang?
"Get up to pee, Che. There's nothing in the hospital at night; the Head Nurse is just fooling us!"
"Stop sleeping, get up and have fun!"
Jiang Che instinctively wanted to get up.
But just as he was about to open his eyes.
He suddenly remembered something!
In the afternoon gathering, he didn't see Fatty Zhang at all!
That means Fatty was either eliminated or assigned to another Uncanny scenario!
The one talking to him now wasn't Fatty!
Good thing he almost fell for it!
Jiang Che rolled himself up in the quilt and turned to the side.
To hell with it.
No matter what happens at night, there's no way I'm opening my eyes!
"Che, what are you doing?"
"I really am Fatty!"
"Should I tell you a secret to prove it?"
"You have hemorrhoids."
"You peeked at the widow next door taking a bath when you were a kid..."
"You still owe me three hundred bucks..."
"......"
It seemed to know Jiang Che was determined not to open his eyes.
The voice grew fainter.
Finally, it disappeared completely.
Gradually, Jiang Che finally fell asleep.
In his dream, he saw a sinister and terrifying "big house."
Surrounded by endless darkness.
It seemed like a corner forgotten and abandoned by the world.
A five-meter-high gate was tightly bound with cold, thick chains.
Looking up, the plaque on the gate was engraved with four blood-red characters.
—Myriad Heavens Prison.
"Here again, huh."
Jiang Che smacked his lips.
He had dreamed of this place countless times.
But he could never enter.
So, Jiang Che simply lay down at the prison gate.
And continued to sleep...
...
The next day, 6 AM.
The clock on the wall emitted a piercing alarm.
Jiang Che got up from the bed and stretched lazily.
In the latter half of the night, he actually slept quite soundly...
However, when he saw the teacup still intact on the doorknob, Jiang Che was stunned.
The cup hadn't fallen.
Then what was that noise last night?
Was it all an illusion?
Jiang Che frowned slightly, put on the white coat he got from the front desk, and headed to the first floor.
Upon reaching the first floor for assembly.
Jiang Che noticed that the other students looked in poor spirits.
Either their faces were pale, or they had heavy dark circles, their eyes bloodshot.
It seemed they not only didn't sleep but were tense until dawn.
"Why hasn't Xiaoguang come yet? Could something have happened?"
"Last night was terrifying; something scratched the walls in my room all night."
"Don't even mention it, my deceased grandmother nagged at my bedside all night, asking if I wanted to go down and join her..."
"......"
The students whispered among themselves.
At this moment, a girl named Li Xiaoxiao approached Jiang Che and asked, "Jiang Che, did you... manage to sleep last night?"
Jiang Che noticed several people casting strange looks his way.
Because he seemed to be the only one looking refreshed...
"I'm used to staying up late," Jiang Che explained.
Li Xiaoxiao: "Oh, oh, um... could you lend me some Spectral Coins?"
Jiang Che: "Hmm?"
Li Xiaoxiao: "I only got 5 Spectral Coins yesterday, just enough to buy a bottle of water. I'm so hungry now..."
Jiang Che was slightly surprised.
He knew work performance affected Spectral Coin earnings, but he didn't expect such a big difference.
It can be hard to make great work when its stolen from "pawread.com".
But he wasn't particularly close to Li Xiaoxiao, and her reputation at school wasn't great either.
Rumor had it she was kept by a rich man.
"There are many ways to insult someone, why use borrowing money..." Jiang Che was about to refuse.
Li Xiaoxiao added, "Lend me 50 Spectral Coins, and I'll, I'll sleep with you once..."
Jiang Che: "???"
He looked Li Xiaoxiao up and down.
She was staring at her toes, but amusingly, couldn't even see them.
Jiang Che: "We'll see..."
Just then, the Head Nurse arrived.
The Head Nurse said expressionlessly, "Five more useless ones died last night. Didn't I tell you to go to sleep after dark and not open your eyes? Can't you understand?"
"A bunch of useless people."
Everyone's hearts tightened.
No wonder it felt like there were fewer people; five more died last night...
"Now I'll tell you today's tasks," the Head Nurse's voice was cold.
"Those in charge of Room 201, attend to the needs of Bed 2."
"Room 303..."
"The patient in Room 403 needs to take their medicine today."
"......"
Soon, everyone hurried to their respective floors and positions.
Jiang Che's task today was to give medicine to the patient in Room 403.
Just administering medicine.
It should be simple, right?
