CHAPTER 112: CHAPTER 112

The three abominable beings began to writhe in agony after being pierced by the Herald’s demonic energy swords, for even though their transformation into abominable beings had brought them to the starting point of the sixth rank, the power they had acquired was unstable.

The Herald looked at Mart, bowed as if the play had ended, and walked away into the darkness of the night.

"Wow, I must stop postponing my research on the God Alvat. The title of believer is quite persuasive; it saved me from using a great resource," thought Mart as he aimed his concentrated energy blades at the abominable beings...

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Mart delivered the final blow. Then he looked at Sitan and Deria and said:

-Get up and let’s continue on our way to the Academy. We must not waste time, or more traitors to the demonic species will appear.

Sitan was confused, not only because of the blow that still left him dazed, but also because of Mart’s calm actions. It was impossible for anyone who had witnessed it not to admire Mart’s presence, especially when you added to that the title of Believer of the Demon God Alvat.

Sitan helped Deria to her feet. She felt frustrated after what had happened, especially since she belonged to Benjac Sevec’s faction, and her contempt for Mart had not diminished. But after what she had seen, she knew that the position of heir could easily swing in favor of Mart Sevec, who had just demonstrated that he possessed overwhelming talent.

••••

Both Deria and Sitan drank regenerative demonic potions to heal their wounds. Even so, the wounds were slow to heal, as the residual demonic energy left behind by the Herald continued to dissipate slowly.

Deria sat down in an armchair inside the demonic vehicle, trying to hide the pain in her abdomen, but a moan of pain escaped her as she sat down.

"Why not go back to Zazel City? It’s closer," Deria wondered as she looked at Mart, who had lain down again with Iristel.

Deria took out her demonic crystal and reported what had happened to Commander Fercan.

••••

Despite how dangerous the situation was, Mart was more than satisfied, as he didn’t lose any significant resources and managed to make the Herald retreat.

"I gained 12.2 points in all attributes. Those conspirators actually gave me a great gift," thought Mart, who, seconds after calculating his gains, smiled, closed his eyes, and fell asleep next to Iristel.

••••

At dawn, Mart sat down in the armchair by the window to continue enjoying the surroundings as the demonic vehicle traveled along. Iristel, meanwhile, had gone to the kitchen to prepare something for breakfast.

Deniris got up from the armchair she was sitting in and approached Mart, moving her rabbit ears slightly.

-What’s going on? -Mart asked, looking at Deniris’ rabbit ears.

She sat on Mart’s lap and her ears tilted; she was nervous and didn’t know if he would punish her.

Mart saw the rabbit ears and was tempted to touch them, so he didn’t hesitate.

"They’re soft, they feel nice to the touch," thought Mart as he held Deniris’ ears between his fingers.

When he stopped stroking Deniris’ rabbit ears, she stared at him with her ears raised.

She continued to stare at him, and when Mart turned his gaze back to the view outside the window, she hugged him and he felt her warm body.

"The charm attribute must have had quite an influence," thought Mart, whose rising intelligence attribute allowed him to overlook few things.

••••

"He’s still just a womanizer," thought Deria as she watched Mart being hugged by Deniris.

Deria leaned back a little on the sofa where she had been lying down and shortly after coughed, covering her black-painted lips with a white handkerchief. Deria’s handkerchief was stained with dark blood after she coughed. Despite taking regenerative potions, she continued to expel the Herald’s residual energy very slowly.

Mart noticed Deria’s condition. Deniris stood up, and then Mart got up and walked towards Deria. When she saw him, she looked at Mart with contempt, and although she tried to hide it, it was difficult.

"Don’t worry, I know you don’t like me. Just stay still," said Mart, pressing his right hand against Deria’s abdomen, and she let out a groan of pain.

Deria was about to question Mart, but soon she felt the pain in her abdomen disappear.

Mart was absorbing the herald’s residual energy, and his right hand turned purple and his fingers trembled. "It’s a terrible pain," Mart thought, without giving it much importance, because even though he called it a terrible pain, he had already experienced worse pains.

-You... -Deria was going to ask Mart how he was feeling when she saw the state of his hand, but Mart shook his head and just made a gesture of silence with his index finger.

Mart sat down quietly again and took out a level 5 demon stone. He absorbed some of the demon energy from the demon stone and expelled what he didn’t need until the demon stone was empty.

Mart took the demon stone in his right hand and began to use the demon energy absorption technique to transfer the Herald’s residual demon energy into the empty demon stone. When he was done, Mart placed a barrier-type demonic spell to contain and preserve the Herald’s residual energy in the demonic stone.

A subtle, evil smile appeared on Mart’s face as he thought, "Perhaps I should use you as a target when I perfect my curses."

Mart stored the demonic stone in his demonic ring.

A few seconds later, Iristel approached with a tray holding two breakfasts, although this time Mart’s breakfast was twice the usual amount.

Mart absorbed the demonic energy into half of his breakfast, ate his half, and then gave the other half to Deniris.

"Stop the vehicle!" Mart ordered, infusing his voice with demonic energy.
