I Will Survive Till The End: Blood Extermination Academy
Chapter 185: Officially Bloodren 10s!
CHAPTER 185: OFFICIALLY BLOODREN 10S!
Arc 3, Chapter 185—Officially Bloodren 10s!
.
.
The vast Entrance Hall had an air of mystery to it.
Along the far walls, 4 gigantic and massive bulletin boards were hung proudly. Those boards went as far as 3 stories tall. But since everyone was a supernatural being, they could narrow their focus and see what they needed to see without the use of any ladder or assistance.
Levon did the same and was taken aback.
{Entry Missions—000.}
Those were the top words on all lists. And below were sub-entry missions in grades. The lesser grade missions were at the bottom, at eye level... while the ones at the top were of course for those who meet certain criterias.
But how to know what mission grade is for you, and what is not? The bulletin boards carried the weight of parchment notices, each promising danger, reward, or mystery.
"This is the Registration Union" Winhest exclaimed, still in a good mood. "The missions here are solely for Bloodren 10, 9, and 8."
"And don’t have to remind you all that any missions taken must be in the far lower half of all 4 bulletin boards, right?"
Levon and everyone else thinned their lips but said nothing. Who can they blame for being Bloodren 10s?
At the notice board, the crowd automatically disdained and looked down on those who seemed missions from the lower bottom of the board.
It was social distancing. And although a majority of them cared, Levon and a few didn’t. Their only annoyance was the speculation that maybe they won’t be fighting powerful opponents when doing lesser missions.
Hopefully, it’s not what they think... It was just too annoying to do boring missions that hold no promise of interest.
"Now then," Winhest continued, " the First bulletin board is for those assigned to Department 1—Intelligence."
"Needless to say, the second bulletin board is for those assigned to Department 3—Security. And the 3rd Board is for those assigned to Department 4—Battle and Retrieval."
Everyone nodded with understanding but soon frowned.
"Instructor Winhest, you’ve explained who the 1st, 2nd and 3rd bulletins are for. However, what about the 4th one?" Someone questioned.
"Good puppies..." Winhest teased. "The 4th bulletin board is for missions that need the merging of specific teams."
For example, on the fourth board, there might be a mission that needs to be done by department 4 and department 3.
In that case, a team from department 4 can partner up with a team from department 3 so they can get the job done.
The rewards shown in these cases are higher, no matter the grade. Everyone wants to go on such missions. Your chances of advancing faster are far more guaranteed if you can complete such missions.
Nevertheless, one must know that even if both teams merge, they will still have submissions to carry out for their respective departments during the joint mission.
Let’s say Department 1 merges with Department 4.
Perhaps during their mission, Department one is to take on a little solo trip somewhere close by and gather information for a day or 2... information that will help them with their overall mission.
The techniques and abilities each department train’s, is private to their members—Meaning sometimes without the help of other departments, it will take too long a time for the job to get done.
In most cases, it’s near-impossible for the missions on Bulletin 4 to be carried out with just one department group. Still, there are always exceptions to all rules... Like Winhest who in his prime, carried out multiple Bulletin 4 missions SOLO.
That’s right, he was all alone, without even a group, talk less of merging with another department’s group.
All in all, the Mission boards were for weaker Bloodrens from Bloodren 8 to 10. The higher Bloodren ranks took on their missions in other more lustrous places.
Looking at each bulletin board, Levon felt it was incredible how wide they were.
One bulletin board was 56 feet in length.... Excuse me, but that was the entire length of a freaking house, garage length included.
Don’t forget that each bulletin board went up by 3 stories high. The left side of the Hall has bulletin boards 1 and 3... while the right side has Bulletin 2 and 4.
Amazing, wasn’t it?
...
Traveling through the cluster of Bloodrens, the gathering of newly passed Bloodren 10s soon reached the forefront.
For hundreds and hundreds of them to comb through the space easily, proves just how enormous this place was.
Seeing Winhest leaving them in, several people subconsciously gave way. Do you think they’re blind? Can’t you see the uniform Winhest was wearing?
For some, this was the first time in their entire lives they were seeing a Coterie, even having spent years and decades in this place.
They sucked in air, making a mental note of Winhest’s face. Many then looked at these newly accepted Bloodren 10s with envy.
Why wasn’t it them who got such a high ranking Slayer as an instructor?
Levon had long grown used to the envious stares of many. But he just had one thing to say: Do you think this guy teaches them as he should?
Have you ever seen an instructor skip out on his own lectures like a delinquent?
Sure enough, faraway hills often look green. But only when you get there, do you see the patches of mud and falsehood laced everywhere.
Like so, the gang reached the forefront that had 25 staff. Winhest went towards the staff with the highest ranking... the receptionist staff at the far left corner.
The staff stood from her seat, giving Winhest all the respect he deserved while leading them through one of the many corridors between each Receptionist.
In the gathering of Bloodren 10s, Levon’s swirled the lollipop in his mouth with a faint arc plastered on his lips.
’I guess it’s time for sorting... huh.’
Their guess was wrong again. Everyone thought they’d be taken to the back toi get sorted into the various departments, but they were wrong.
At the back they found themselves in a vast open courtyard with stone brick walls surrounding all corners in a rectangular formation.
There were other Bloodrens, Staff, and Slayers moving back and forth across the space. The grass was green, and the strange miniature bunnies were hopping about all over the place.
Busy... Busy.. Busy...
Like worker bees, the crowd buzzed about their one business. Levon’s group walked till they reached the far left end of the courtyard. There, they were down the dimly lit path, up the many flights of stairs.
The journey took them through many labyrinths and paths till they ascended back into a hall at ground floor level.
Levon looked at the space and felt it was funny. Why did this place look like a sacrificial altar?
There were 15 pedestals at the center that held black balls, 2 on each pedestal. The torches on the walls lit up with bluish flames the further in they walked.
Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!
Rings of bluish fire had now engulfed all torches when they arrived at the center.
Levon felt helpless. Why did this feel like a cultic ring meant for primitive sacrifices?
"Lines of 30," The Chief Staff leading them in began. "2 lines for each pedestal."
The instructions were clear. Soon 30 lines were formed in random order before the 15 Pedestals.
With that, the Staff parted her lips softly. "Begin."
The first set of 30 approached the black balls, placing only their palms on them. Several people hissed and scrunched their faces, walking away from the balls after 30 seconds.
30 seconds was the time the Staff told them to keep contact with the Black Balls.
Step by step, Levon was getting closer to the front. Soon it was his time to place his palm on the black ball.
Hiss~
Levon finally understood why everyone who went ahead of his hissed from time to time.
Dammit it stung like a viper. He felt a tingling palm spread from their palm and travel throughout their entire bodies. It was so bone-chilling, as if something was trying to suck his soul away from his body.
Fortunately the experience only lasted for 30 seconds. And then Levon felt a slight burn on the tattoo on his palm. This wasn’t the Shard tattoo, but the tattoo imprinted on them when they first accessed their lockers.
Looking at the tattoo that was now changing imagery form, Levon raised a brow thoughtfully. It had the same imagery as the tokens they were granted earlier.
Levon frowned. ’Does it mean that our Phase 1 completion Tokens are no longer needed?’
Clenching his fist, he could still feel the tinged burn on his palm.
Turn by turn, all 377 Bloodren 10s were now officially recognized as True 10s. Everyone looked at their palms from time to time, wondering what changes these upgraded tattoo marks will bring.
At the same time, some threw their heads back and forth, muttering the words: where was he?
