I Would Rather Be a Rogue [BL]
Chapter 193: Slow Morning
CHAPTER 193: SLOW MORNING
The next morning, Felix woke up on his own, with no alarm or knocking, neither on the inner door connecting his room with Kade’s, nor on the door leading to the hallway. It was still dark outside, but his phone showed that it was way past 7 AM, so it wasn’t all that early. There were faint sounds of clamor coming from the other parts of the mansion, as well as from the outside, letting Felix know that at least a part of the pack was already awake and bustling about, but his immediate surroundings were all quiet and peaceful.
Felix had gone to bed before eleven the night before, so it wasn’t like he didn’t have enough sleep. However, even though he had gone to bed early and had been able to sleep until he woke up naturally... He still wasn’t well-rested.
He simply wasn’t able to sleep well. The bed was very comfortable, the sheets clean and fresh, the blanket soft and warm... But something was missing.
...Perhaps he should ask Kade for a jasmine-scented candle or jasmine air freshener. The fragrance wouldn’t be the same as the one he was used to, but at least it should be somewhat familiar... Felix didn’t know if it would work, but it was at least worth a try. With time, he should be able to get used to Remi’s absence, but it would be a problem if he weren’t able to get any proper sleep until then...
For now, though, he stretched his waist, and climbed out of bed, trying to ignore his aching head. He doubted he would be able to fall asleep anyway, so he might at least do something more productive with his time.
The problem was... what exactly could he do?
He had already unpacked most of his stuff the previous evening.
Vivi was still asleep. Seems like, unlike Felix, she had no trouble adjusting to her environment. Whether she missed the fox, it was hard to tell, but with Felix near her, she didn’t really need anyone else. Which, of course, was a good thing, Felix would feel far more guilty about his decision to leave if Vivi wasn’t comfortable here. But for some reason, he was a bit dissatisfied with it...
Could it be that he secretly hoped that she would dislike it here, so that he would have an excuse to leave? After all, it was primarily because of his concern for Vivi’s safety and future that he had made this decision... So, if his pup hated being away from Remi, Felix would have fewer reasons to stay away as well...
Felix let out a heavy sigh, shaking his head to dispel the thoughts. Putting aside the fact that he was still a bit uncertain about Remi’s intentions, he had just come to the Bloodmoon Pack. After causing all of this fuss, if he were to leave in just a few days, how would Kade’s parents react? He didn’t need them to like him, since he had no intention of becoming their son-in-law, but getting on their bad side wouldn’t do him any good either!
Either way, rather than dwell on it, he should just start getting ready for the day. He took off his pajamas, and went into the shower, turning on cold water to wake himself up. Although he had already taken a quick shower the night before... He had nothing better to do anyway, so might as well refresh himself.
There were a lot of different toiletries prepared. With different scents, and with different properties. Relaxing, refreshing, smoothing, soothing, invigorating shower gels. Shampoos and conditioners increasing volume, shine, nourishing, moisturising. And next to the bathtub, as well as on top of the bathroom vanity, there were even more various toiletries, from bath bombs and bath salts to all sorts of creams and balms...
And all of it seemed to be high-quality products, probably from some luxury brands or something.
Felix hesitated for a moment, but in the end, he decided to use them. Although he had brought his own stuff from Silverfall... Those were all cheap stuff from the supermarket. Werewolves had sensitive noses, if he used them, everyone would be able to tell that he smelled cheap... And like Lorelei had said the day before, the way he currently presented himself wasn’t just about him, but it also represented the Blackstone family in a way. So, he picked the argan oil shampoo and conditioner, and sea salt and fennel shower gel, and quickly refreshed himself.
After the shower, he went to the closet. After some deliberation, he picked a simple outfit by pairing a pair of wool pants with a sweater that seemed to go well together. It was a casual outfit with muted colors, which wouldn’t make him stand out... But it was picked from the clothes that Lorelei had bought him the day before, so it should be alright.
He was all clean and dressed up, with his hair neatly combed...
But what now? Since he had no need to unpack, and no need to take care of his pup, what else was he supposed to do? He couldn’t just go out and leave his room. Well, technically he could... But he was still unfamiliar with the mansion, so where was he going to go, wander around on his own?
Knocking on Kade’s door didn’t seem like a good idea either. When Felix had gone to bed, Kade had still been chatting with Fen and Cael, so he was probably still asleep. It was all silent there, even as Felix pressed his ear against the door connecting their rooms, he couldn’t hear anything. Just some rustling, most likely coming from the bunny’s cage.
Then, the bed creaked.
Felix instinctively took a step back, startled. He didn’t want to get caught trying to ’spy’ on Kade, even if he had a legitimate excuse!
He quickly glanced around, looking for anything he could use to pretend to be busy, until his eyes fell on the bookshelf. He quickly pulled one of the books from it, and threw himself on the sofa, flipping it open...
Then, he waited.
And waited.
And waited.
He was so focused on waiting for the sound of knocking to come, that he didn’t even read a single letter from the book he held in his hands. Until finally, the awaited knocking came from the inner door...
Felix cleared his throat, and calmly said, "Come in."
The door opened, and Kade stepped in, all clean and refreshed, with his hair still wet. Well, not only hair - it seems that Kade hadn’t heard about this amazing invention called A TOWEL, because he put the clothes on when his body was still damp. As the result, his shirt clung to his skin, revealing the beautiful lines of his muscles...
Felix gulped, and forced himself to avert his eyes, looking at the pages in front of him instead. "Yes? What is it?"
Of course, his reaction didn’t escape Kade’s eyes. He didn’t say anything about it, though, only grinned as he asked, "Are you hungry? Do you want to have breakfast together?"
...Felix would have liked it very much to have breakfast alone. However, it’s not like he could just go make it for himself, he didn’t even know where the kitchen was! Or if he could even use it however he pleased. He didn’t know where the dining room was either. Not to mention, a lot of the pack members had already seen him the day before, so if he went there on his own, he might be hounded by their questions... At least for the first few days, it would be best to stick with Kade, his family, and his friends, until he has an idea as to how to handle the situation (in particular, how to deal with the Omegas who are likely to be displeased with his mere existence).
"Alright," he said with a sigh. "That’s fine with me."
"Great! Do you want to have it in the room, or..."
"Let’s go to the dining room."
Since Kade had said that he usually didn’t order the meals to be delivered to his room, Felix wasn’t going to give the Bloodmoon Pack members extra work to do either. He had to start (temporarily) adjusting anyway, so going to the dining room was the best choice.
He closed the book with a sigh, and got up, ready to follow Kade...
When he noticed a weird twinkle in the Alpha’s purple black eyes.
"Do you like this book?" Kade asked, stepping closer. "If so... Then how about we put those fantasies into reality?"
All the blood suddenly drained from Felix’s face. Just what kind of book had he grabbed for Kade to say something like that? He glanced down at the cover...
’Snatched by a billionaire Alpha’
’A hot romance between a rogue Omega and a rich, powerful Alpha!’
"..."
Felix was speechless.
His eyes wandered to the bookshelf. Now that he had taken a good look... It seemed that it was filled with nothing but cheap, cheesy werewolf romances. Probably all between poor Omegas and rich Alphas.
Had Kade put them there in hopes that Felix would get inspired to mate with him after reading them?!
If so, then he was completely off. Because what Felix wanted was to toss those books right in his face!
"Thanks, but no thanks!" Felix said, passing Kade by, and putting the book back in place. "I’ve tried reading it, since I had nothing better to do, but the romantic interest is too insufferable. I don’t understand how the main character could ever spare him even a glance!"
Then, he picked up Vivi. She was still sleeping peacefully, but it’s not like he could leave her alone, not even when going just to have breakfast. That was one of the disadvantages of living in a huge pack house - back in his tiny house in Silverfall, he could just leave his pup in the crib when he went to the kitchen, because it was just a few steps away, and he would hear her if she started crying...
But, it was what it was. He hugged her to his chest, and turned back to Kade.
"So, are you coming or not?"
