CHAPTER 194: BREAKFAST AT THE PACK

The dining room that Kade took Felix to was rather small. Or, well, smaller than expected. It was still bigger than the daily dining room at the Moonhill Pack, at least in terms of space, but it couldn’t accommodate too many people, not with the tables and chairs that were there. Of course, it was better this way, more comfortable, as people didn’t have to squeeze through to get to their seats all the time, and they didn’t elbow each other when eating...

It was just surprising. The Bloodmoon Pack was much bigger than the Moonhill Pack, incomparably so. Even if you ignore all the members that were semi-permanently resident outside of the pack, for example in the city, to manage the pack’s businesses, there would be no way to fit them all in this room. Not even if they were to squeeze in like sardines in a can. Not even if the Alphas were to put all the Omegas on their shoulders to save the space! Of course, not everyone ate their meals at an exact same time, but still. With this number of seats, it would be difficult to manage it well!

"Is that your only dining room?" Felix couldn’t help but ask, as they went to the counter to get food for themselves. The way the daily meals worked at the Bloodmoon Pack was that every person went to the large counter connecting the dining room with the kitchen themselves, picked what they wanted from the day’s menu, and carried the tray to their seat themselves. It was... surprisingly down-to-earth approach, especially for a pack like the Bloodmoon Pack, which otherwise seemed to be swimming in luxury.

"Of course not!" Kade glanced at him, an amused smile playing on his lips, as if the fact that Felix had even THOUGHT it might be the only dining room was incredibly funny. "That’s only the dining room for daily use for the pack members living in the main mansion. There are three of them, actually, but I usually eat in this one, since that table over there," Kade gestured at the empty table standing the furthest from the rest, "is reserved for the top members of the pack, so there’s always space there left."

"You, of course, are one of the top members now," he then added, before Felix could even say anything. "Since you’re the mother of my pup and all."

...To be honest, Felix would much rather not be. Unless he ate with Kade, or there was absolutely no space left anywhere else, he wouldn’t take a seat by that table. It would attract too much attention, which was the last thing he wanted!

So, he just grimaced, and ignored Kade’s comment, turning his attention to the whiteboard next to the counter. It listed all the options currently available. Which were all nutritious and most likely also very delicious dishes... But surprisingly normal. No oysters with golden flakes or anything like that. Well, probably even Kade couldn’t be so absurd on a daily basis. Even luxury things could get boring if you indulged in them on a daily basis.

"Omelette wrap with a milk coffee, please," he said to one of the kitchen staff waiting behind the counter after scanning through the list.

The kitchen staff - a middle-aged Omega - nodded at him, while stealing constant glances at Kade.

And Kade flashed her a wide grin, which made her whole face flush in a deep shade of red. "I’ll have what he’s having!"

Felix: "..."

His order aside - perhaps Kade also just fancied himself an omelette wrap, there wasn’t necessarily anything more to it - to think that the Alpha even sent middle-aged Omegas blushing... That kitchen staff was clearly all mated and marked, perhaps even with children around Kade’s age! And yet...

Felix let out a quiet sigh, shaking his head. Since Kade was so popular, why did he have to waste (?) his time on a random rogue Omega such as him?!

Or perhaps it was precisely because he was desired by so many, that Kade found Felix’s attitude refreshing. In which case, it was going to be problematic, as Felix didn’t want to fake being obsessed with Kade just to cool down the Alpha’s enthusiasm.

It was probably too late for that, anyway, as if Felix tried to seduce Kade now, Kade would go along with it without any resistance...

Their food soon arrived on the counter. Two trays filled with food. The portion size... was way too large, as far as Felix was concerned. But Kade was so tall and muscular, so perhaps that was the amount he normally ate... And the kitchen staff prepared the exact same portion for Felix, so as not to make Kade think that he was trying to mistreat the mysterious Omega that was accompanying him!

Either way, that was most certainly not the normal portion size. Felix had seen some of the other pack members eat this wrap as they had passed through the dining room, and both the size, as well as the presentation, were far less impressive!

Felix hesitated for a moment, not sure if he should say anything... The portion was too big for him to finish, and he didn’t want to waste food. But at the same time, if he asked for replacement, he would be giving the kitchen staff more unnecessary work...

So, in the end, he just smiled, and nodded at the Omega behind the counter politely. "Thank you very much."

If he didn’t finish it, then he’d just save it for later. He had a mini fridge in his room. He could store it there, and perhaps have it for lunch or an afternoon snack or something...

He was about to grab his tray, but Kade was faster. The Alpha grabbed his tray in one hand, and Felix’s in the other, holding them up with ease. "Don’t worry about it. I’ll take them both, you just take care of our pup."

He put the emphasis on ’our’, causing the kitchen staff’s eyes to widen. Even most of the people eating momentarily paused, turning their heads their way. Kade didn’t exactly speak quietly, so they could all hear. Of course, they had already had some suspicions before, but...

This was the first time Kade’s paternity had been announced.

Felix held back a sigh, and tried his best to ignore the stares as he followed the Alpha to the empty table.
