I Would Rather Be a Rogue [BL]
Chapter 209: Saving Myself for You
CHAPTER 209: SAVING MYSELF FOR YOU
The party dragged on long into the night. All the pack members were chatting, and drinking, and chatting, and eating, and chatting some more... And they didn’t seem to get tired of the overwhelming murmur of the countless conversations, or of running their own tongues, at all. Where did they get all this energy to socialize, Felix had no idea, because he himself was absolutely DRAINED.
Luckily, he wasn’t forced to stay until the end. Although technically he was one of the stars of the evening... The party was primarily to celebrate Vivi. Vivi, who was still only seven months old...
And as a little pup, naturally, she needed a lot of sleep. It was long past her bedtime, and Vivi was clearly tired. But she was struggling to sleep with all those lights, scents, and noise... Eventually, she couldn’t take it any longer, and started wailing...
Well, it was already good enough that she had managed to stay calm for so long.
With this, it was the signal for Felix and Kade to make their exit. Kade stood up, and lightly tapped his glass with a spoon to gather attention.
"Felix and I would like to once again thank you all for celebrating our daughter’s seventh-month birthday with us today," he said, his face all smiles. "I’m afraid it’s time for us to leave now, as we need to put Vivi to sleep. However, I hope that all of you will enjoy the rest of the evening."
Having said that, he lifted Vivi and offered his arm to Felix, to take both of them out of the banquet hall.
Of course, there was actually no need for them to leave. They could just send Vivi away with someone else. But...
Kade could tell that Felix wasn’t exactly enjoying himself, so it was best for him to leave now that they had an excuse. And letting Felix leave alone wasn’t an option, at least not for Kade - he wanted to make a whole show out of it. ’Felix and Vivi are the most important, so if they leave, I have to go with them,’ was what his actions meant.
Was it necessary? No, not really. Hosting this party was already enough proof of their status. Kade just simply liked being extra like that, that’s all.
And on top of that...
"Watch your step," Kade said, as they stepped out of the reception hall. Although the path outside had been cleared out earlier, as they were in the hall, it became covered in a thin layer of snow again, making it a bit slippery. As for Felix...
"Mn..." Felix muttered, nodding his head, a bit absent-minded. His cheeks were flushed...
And it wasn’t from the cold.
It wasn’t from Kade’s proximity either (unfortunately), but it was adorable nonetheless. And his steps were a bit unsteady...
The alcohol was getting to Felix. Perhaps he wasn’t so drunk as to not know what he was doing, or that he wouldn’t be able to walk on his own, but he seemed to have overestimated his tolerance a bit. Or maybe he simply didn’t notice just how much he had drunk, constantly sipping champagne out of nervousness, or out of lack of any better thing to do. Unlike whiskey, champagne turned to suit his taste, so he kind of forgot it was also alcohol... Not as strong, but still.
The corners of Kade’s lips hooked up, and he slowly led Felix down the path leading to the main mansion. As expected, in his half-drunken state, Felix was sliding on the paved path quite a bit, and had to cling to Kade for support... Which was precisely what the Alpha was hoping for.
"I’ve heard your conversation with Cael about college," he said all of a sudden. "Do you want to go?"
"Hmm... Not really."
"Why?"
"Not interested," Felix muttered. "I’d rather... stay with Vivi. And... It’s probably expensive."
"Expensive? What’s expensive?"
"The tuition."
"There’s no such thing..." Kade started, but Felix cut him off, finishing the sentence for him,
"As college tuition. Just as there’s no such thing as hospital bills, huh?" he scoffed, pushing the Alpha away.
Kade pressed his lips, trying hard not to laugh. Of course, he knew what Felix was talking about. And the Omega was glaring at him, angry, or at least pretending to be. I was just that...
He looked so adorable! He was trying to glare, but his lips were pouted, and his cheeks flushed. He looked so cute, that Kade just wanted to just cuddle him up...
"Well, there really isn’t," he said, trying to maintain his calm. "At least as far as you are concerned. Because for you, I can take care of anything!"
Felix scoffed, and rolled his eyes. "Just for me? What about your other Omegas?"
"My... other Omegas?" Kade paused, furrowing his brows. "What do you mean?"
"Thalia, for example."
"What about her?"
"Something happened between the two of you, didn’t it?"
Kade tilted his head, his frown slowly turning into a smile. "Is that jealousy I see?"
"You wish!" Felix scoffed, and turned his head away, crossing his arms over his chest. "I just feel bad for her. You have at least seen her naked, haven’t you?"
"...What? Where did you get that from?"
Felix looked back at Kade, scrutinizing his face. The Alpha seemed genuinely confused...
Well, Felix was just guessing randomly, so there was a high chance he might have been wrong.
"If you’re curious about Thalia, then she used to pursue me in the past, but I have never done anything with her!" Kade defended himself. "I absolutely haven’t! I’m saving myself for you!"
"...No need for that," Felix sighed. "But even if you didn’t do anything, something must have happened, no? For example... Her ’accidentally’ exposing herself in front of you?"
It seemed plausible, based on the behavior of the Omegas that Felix had observed on the first night. But Kade only shrugged his shoulders.
"I don’t know. Maybe?"
"You... don’t know?"
"I don’t remember. There are too many of them, did you really think I would remember who did what and when?"
Felix... was rendered speechless. He kind of felt bad for Thalia, as well as all the other Omegas. Their behavior was foolish, yes, but... To think that many of them were probably agonizing about the embarrassing things they had done to get Kade’s attention...
And Kade didn’t even remember.
"Oh, but don’t worry," Kade added. "I will make sure to remember everything that you do..."
He made a step towards Felix, reaching out his arm to catch the Omega by the waist and pull him close... When all of a sudden, he felt the ground slipping from underneath his feet. One moment, he was looking at Felix’s beautifully flushed face, and the next, he saw the dark sky above them. He tried to regain his balance, but somehow, his other foot also inexplicably slipped, even though just a split second ago, it was standing securely on the pavement. It didn’t even feel like slipping, and more as if someone pulled the rug from underneath his feet...
And to make matters worse, Vivi slipped from his arm as well, even though he was sure he was holding her tight to his chest. She didn’t fall down, though, but rather flew upwards...
Straight into Felix’s outstretched arms. The Omega rushed to catch his daughter, and even though he almost slipped in the process, he magically managed to maintain his balance.
"...What has just happened?" Kade muttered, staring at the dark, cloudy sky, dumbfounded. He was a powerful Alpha, how could he slip up like that? He was hardly even drunk!
