I Would Rather Be a Rogue [BL]
Chapter 225: MY Mate
CHAPTER 225: MY MATE
"That doesn’t change the fact that Felix is a member of my pack and my fated mate..."
Felix froze, his mind going blank. Jared sounded so defeated, having to admit that the pup wasn’t his after all. However, even as he suffered a heavy blow, he was still not giving up?! What was he trying to do now?
Kade and Jared both noticed his uneasiness. Although it didn’t quite show on Felix’s face, it was obvious from the change in his breathing, which grew quicker and more shallow. Kade reached out, grabbing Felix’s hand (he actually wanted to pull the Omega into his embrace, but the risk that Felix would push him away was a bit too high, and Kade couldn’t allow for this to happen right in front of Jared’s eyes)...
Meanwhile, Jared smirked.
"Young Master Kade, I understand that the pup needs to remain in the Bloodmoon Pack," he said, his confidence suddenly restored. "She is your daughter, after all, I would never think of taking her away. However, Felix is still my fated mate. He will have to come back to the Moonhill Pack with me, I’m afraid."
"Back to the Moonhill Pack?" Lorelei unexpectedly cut in. She, Einar, and the elder had been staying quiet until now - not necessarily because they didn’t have anything to say, but simply because they were above it all, and couldn’t be deigned to participate in youngsters’ petty squabbles - but now she felt that she had to intervene. Although she had no doubt that Kade would handle it well on his own, as a mother herself, she simply couldn’t help but speak up. "Are you trying to separate Felix from his pup?"
Jared paused for a moment, throwing Lorelei an uneasy glance. He had forgotten himself quite a bit during this whole conversation (and to say it was only ’quite a bit’ was an understatement), but he still remembered that the Bloodmoon Pack members shouldn’t be taken lightly...
...But he soon shrugged it off. With no elders and advisers around, and with the pain from the curse making him rather muddle-headed, his rational thinking abilities had greatly decreased. He was convinced that he was in the right here, so as long as he presented his arguments well enough, he and the Bloodmoon Pack would come to an agreement, right?
So, he smiled, and said politely, "Madam, I understand your concerns. But don’t you think that Young Master Kade’s pup would be better without a trashy mother like Felix around? You can just pick a more respectable Omega to raise her."
Lorelei only lifted her brows, without saying anything. Not because she didn’t care about defending Felix at all... But simply because she noticed her son’s expression. Kade’s face was so dark that it seemed he might snap at any moment, and rip Jared apart.
And she wouldn’t stop him if that’s what he chose to do. Although it wouldn’t be the best idea to kill the leader of the Moonhill Pack as he was visiting their territory on their personal invitation... Jared Thorne was insulting Kade’s future mate, so it would be fully justified. Whatever backlash they might face for it, they could handle it.
Kade managed to contain himself, though. He remained on his seat, just staring daggers at Jared as he said coldly, "That’s just your opinion. You should keep it to yourself, if you don’t want to lose your tongue. Or throat."
"Oh, and," he added with a scoff, "If that’s how you feel, then what do you want Felix back for? Just break your bond already! I’m sure that Felix will welcome it. Isn’t that right, honey?" His voice suddenly changed from dark and frigid cold to the sweetest, most velvety tone possible as he addressed Felix. Honestly, that excessive sweetness almost made Felix shudder, but he still nodded his head.
"Of course, da-dar...ling..." He batted his lashes at Kade.
Yes, he wanted to finally break that damned bond. Even if it required role-playing a happy, loving couple with Kade.
Kade beamed at him as if he had just won the lottery. Felix had just called him ’darling’! Sure, he had stumbled on it, as if he struggled to get the word past his throat, and it was just for show, but still! Any progress with Felix counted as an achievement, even a fake one!
Jared, on the other hand, was in a far worse mood. When he saw Kade and Felix acting all affectionate with each other, he had barely managed to stop himself from grabbing the Omega and dragging him out of the room. Preferably to find some dark corner and teach him a lesson. But he was still in the presence of the Bloodmoon Pack’s leaders, so he couldn’t act rashly (which he already had, but he lacked enough self-awareness to realize it), and only snapped at Kade, "That’s the Moonhill Pack’s business. With all due respect, Young Master Kade, but it’s not something you have any right to meddle in."
Everyone instantly went quiet, turning their eyes to Jared.
Telling the heir of a supreme pack that he didn’t have the right to meddle with medium-sized pack members? That was rather arrogant of him! Technically he was right, as the Bloodmoon Pack didn’t have any sovereignty over the Moonhill Pack... But still. If they wanted to, they could even exterminate them, let alone decide the fate of one of the members.
"Oh? I don’t have the right, you say?" Kade looked at Jared as if the Alpha had lost his mind. "But even if Felix is your fated mate... He is also the mother of MY pup, and MY mate."
Jared went silent for a moment. It seemed that his self-preservation instinct wasn’t completely gone just yet. He could sense that although Kade’s voice was calm, and his words weren’t overly rude, it all spelled danger...
All of that vanished in an instant the moment his eyes fell on Felix again. Seeing the Omega, HIS Omega, right next to another Alpha made his blood boil.
"He can’t be your mate, since he’s bonded to me already," he said firmly. Although he was speaking to Kade, his eyes were still on Felix, watching the Omega like a predator about to catch his prey. "How could you possibly take him as a mate knowing all that?"
Kade only smiled in return.
"That’s the Bloodmoon Pack’s business, you don’t have any right to meddle with that!"
