I Would Rather Be a Rogue [BL]
Chapter 236: Pet Mystery
CHAPTER 236: PET MYSTERY
"By the way... Is that the same pet fox you used to keep back in Silverfall?" Cael asked, placing the ready drink in front of Felix.
"Ah... Yes," Felix nodded, stroking Remi’s head and ignoring Kade, who was looking at him with pitiful eyes. "His name is Remi."
"Oh... Nice name," Cael smiled. "But... I have to ask... What is he doing here?"
Previously, Felix had said that he didn’t bring his fox with him, since he was a wild fox and would have been uncomfortable in a werewolf’s pack house, so his sudden appearance was indeed a bit odd. Felix pressed his lips, scrambling for excuses.
"Well... It’s just that he missed me so much, so he came..." he said, but it only made Cael lift his brows.
"All the way here?"
...Indeed, that didn’t make sense. Silverfall and the Bloodmoon Pack’s pack house were around a twelve-hour drive apart. And Felix came here by car. Would a normal fox be able to follow his trail that far? Felix didn’t know the limits of animals, but probably not! Actually, most certainly not. Even he, as a werewolf, wouldn’t have been able to achieve that!
It was only because Remi was a witch that he was able to find him so fast. Either he could sense his blood because of the curse... Or perhaps he had placed a spell on Felix which allowed him to track the Omega. Honestly, Felix wouldn’t put that past him. Considering that he had been stealing his blood for so long, doing something like that seemed possible.
But he couldn’t explain that to Cael. Or maybe didn’t want to reveal Remi’s identity just yet. So, he quickly corrected himself,
"I mean, I missed him. So I asked Kade to bring him here..."
"Oh, so it was one of Kade’s guards who brought him?"
"Yes, that’s it!"
Cael only smiled in response. It was clear that he had some doubts regarding this story. After all, if it were just a normal fox, then how would Kade’s guard be able to bring it? Even if they were able to find him, because the fox had been hanging around Felix’s house, there was no way that the fox would just go with an unfamiliar werewolf willingly. The guard would have to catch him, and that would surely be a stressful experience for the fox... Not something that a pet owner who cared about their pet would want to do. If Felix wanted to bring the fox to the pack, he would have gone to Silverfall personally... But Cael knew for a fact that Felix hadn’t left the pack at all.
He didn’t say anything, though. Kade wasn’t surprised by the fox’s presence, which meant that there was no need to intervene. He just changed the topic,
"I’ve heard that Lyla will be organizing a table tennis tournament for the Omegas."
"Ah, right," Felix forced a smile, relieved that the fox’s topic had been dropped, but not-so-relieved that Cael had brought up Lyla. News sure traveled fast... Although it could also be that, "Did she invite you as well?"
However, Cael shook his head. "No, not yet. She probably will... I don’t think she would want me to participate, though."
"Oh."
Cael had a ’Young Master’ status in the pack. And a real one, which he had probably held since birth, not one granted to him because he was the mother of someone’s important (fake) pup. Whether Lyla wanted it or not, she probably had no choice but to invite him...
Of course, that’s not to say that she didn’t respect him or anything. If she was reluctant to invite Cael, that was only because he might get in the way of her plans.
"What about you?" Cael asked, smiling at Felix. "Do you want me to join?"
"Well... Do you want to participate?" Felix answered the question with another question.
Cael let out a soft chuckle. "I don’t care either way. I can play table tennis, and I don’t mind joining, but I’m also not particularly interested in it either. It all depends on how you want to handle this tournament. If you need any support..."
Felix thought about it for a moment. He didn’t know how good Cael was at table tennis... But since he had said that he COULD play it, then Felix suspected that he had to be pretty good. Cael generally seemed like the kind of person who would be good at whatever he tried. And no matter what, if he joined, that would mean that there was someone on Felix’s side...
Not that it would mean much. Unless Lyla wanted to turn it into a team tournament, Cael’s participation wouldn’t help Felix in any way. And on top of that, Felix didn’t want to rely on Cael too much... If he couldn’t even handle something so simple on his own, then wouldn’t that be too pathetic?
"Thanks, but if you don’t mind, I would like to deal with it by myself," he finally said.
It was just a table tennis tournament, after all. What could possibly happen?
None of the other two men did seem particularly concerned about it either. Fen was sipping his drink, just listening to the conversation, while Kade was still eyeing Remi. Sure, it could be said that as Alphas, they didn’t understand the dynamics between the Omegas all that well... But Cael was also calm, so there shouldn’t be any reason for Felix to worry. At least for now, concerning this event.
"Alright," Cael agreed without any hesitation. "If that’s what you want... Do you know how to play, though?"
"...I’ve played it before," Felix said. "Although not that often... So I’m not sure if I’m any good."
He could more or less hold his ground against Tyler... But he had never seen Tyler play with anyone else, so he didn’t have any comparison. And the two of them only played OCCASIONALLY at most, to begin with. Felix could hardly call himself an experienced player.
"Hmm," Cael hummed, observing Felix with narrowed eyes. "Should I give you a few lessons? There probably won’t be much time for it, but..."
"I can do it!" Kade abruptly cut in. "I’ll teach him how to play!"
...But he got completely ignored. Felix just smiled at Cael, "Thank you, but there’s no need..." He was about to say ’for you to bother’, but then he paused. He glanced at Remi, then at Kade, and back at Cael...
"Actually, if you have some time, would you mind?" he asked. "I could use some tips!"
Even if he felt that it was best not to rely on others too much, that didn’t mean he had to reject every offer of help he received!
