I Would Rather Be a Rogue [BL]
Chapter 258: If You Want to Know...
CHAPTER 258: IF YOU WANT TO KNOW...
"Do you want to know? Then come back to the Moonhill Pack."
"...What?" Felix furrowed his brows, staring straight at his father. This... was not an answer he had expected.
Even though perhaps he should have. He had already noticed that his father didn’t seem to be supportive of the idea of him marrying into the Bloodmoon Pack. Which meant that he probably still wanted to match Felix up with Jared, for whatever reason. And in order to do that, it was only natural that with any weakness he could find, he would hold it over Felix’s head.
Felix swore inwardly. Perhaps he shouldn’t have asked his father so openly, especially not on the first day. He should have brought it up casually in a conversation, and pretend like it was more of an afterthought...
It was too late for that now. Still, trying to salvage the situation, Felix shrugged his shoulders with a scoff. "If you don’t want to tell me, then don’t. I don’t care about it that much. I’ve just realized that it was suspicious recently, so I thought that I might try to ask."
Wilder lifted his brows. It was clear that he knew that Felix was lying. Felix had already exposed himself before, and even now, he couldn’t completely hide his emotions.
His mother had always been his weak spot. Even Wilder, who had rarely talked with his son, was aware of it.
"Don’t be like that," he said with a smile, as if he were trying to pacify Felix. "It’s not that I don’t want to explain it to you. I’ve never said anything because I thought that you were still so young... But you’re an adult now, you’re old enough to know everything. It’s just that..." He paused, his eyes quickly sweeping across the room. "It’s confidential information."
"So?"
"The walls have ears."
"...Ah." Felix went silent. He still couldn’t help but keep eyeing his father suspiciously, not knowing whether the man was being honest with him about his reasons... But he understood what he had meant.
Wilder was concerned about the room being bugged.
And he was probably right. The Bloodmoon Pack even had spies planted in other packs. Would they not bug the guest rooms to listen on any conversations their guests might have? Especially someone like Wilder. Although Felix hadn’t been told anything about it, he was almost certain that there were hidden listening devices in the room.
Still, he smiled. "You don’t need to worry about that," he said. "This room is very private. No one is listening, you can openly talk with me."
"...You trust the Bloodmoon Pack a lot, I see?"
"Of course!"
...Not. It wasn’t that Felix truly trusted them. Maybe he trusted Kade. His parents? To some extent. But not entirely. It was just that... He simply didn’t care. If the Moonhill Pack’s secrets were revealed, or if the Bloodmoon Pack were to learn everything there was about his mother and her relationship with his father. They wouldn’t spread this information to all the pack members of the outside world, because why would they, and they had no reason to harm Felix with it. So, it was fine with him, whatever they heard.
But Wilder was still not speaking. He didn’t share Felix’s sentiment.
Felix let out a sigh. "If you’re still not convinced, then how about we go into the woods?" he suggested. "We can have even more privacy there."
And Felix could also bring Remi with him, to interrogate his father with a truth spell! It was a perfect solution...
But Wilder shook his head. "No. If you want to know, you have to come to the Moonhill Pack with me."
"...I don’t want to ever go back there."
"Oh? That’s going to be a problem... You’re still bonded to Jared, after all."
Felix couldn’t help but flinch at his father’s words, all the blood draining from his face.
Right. Of course his father would know. It was one of the very few advantages that Jared and the Moonhill Pack had, so naturally, that damned Alpha must have found a way to inform Wilder about it somehow, even if that meant he had to throw up black sludge from talking about Felix.
He quickly fixed his expression, though, and forced on a smirk, "Bonded to Jared? Is that what he told you? Yes, it’s true that we were fated mates... But he formally rejected me in front of everyone during his visit to the Bloodmoon Pack."
"Did it work, though?" Wilder lifted his brows, to which Felix’s heart nearly stopped.
He knew. His father knew everything. About that damned, stubborn, unnatural fated mate bond.
"Why wouldn’t it?" he asked back, struggling to hide his nervousness. "He rejected me, I accepted. That’s how it always goes. We even had witnesses, so you can ask Mr. and Mrs. Blackstone if you don’t believe me. Now, if you excuse me... I have other duties to attend."
Having said that, he got up. He couldn’t continue this conversation, not now. He had to go back to his room and rethink it all. If he continued in his current anxious state, he would only end up giving his father up more of his weaknesses that he would later be able to exploit...
He was almost at the door, when he heard his father’s voice coming from behind him, "You both might have said the words in front of other wolves, but only the two of you can sense the bond between you. No one else would be able to tell if it broke or not."
Felix’s fingers tightened around the door handle. He took a deep breath, and glanced over his shoulders with his brows high, and his lips stretched in an amused smile. "Yes, that’s true... But if we said the words, why wouldn’t it be broken? There’s no such thing as an unbreakable bond!"
Then, he quickly swung the door open, and left the room before his father could say anything else.
