Immortal Creed
Chapter 36: "Killing Marvin"
The scene shifted.
Liens entered the instance once more, skipping the initial procedures, and again found himself by Marvin's bed, sword in hand.
Liens stared indifferently at Marvin, who was sleeping peacefully, utterly unaware of what was about to happen.
There was no hesitation.
His left hand swiftly pulled back the quilt that almost covered Marvin's entire body, found his mark, and his right hand swung the sword.
The familiar sharp pain returned, but he endured it for now.
"Ah… ah ah"
A loud sound echoed in the confined room—Marvin's pained shriek as he felt the intense agony.
By this point, Liens had already severed Marvin's right hand with his longsword.
Marvin, who had barely been injured in his life, naturally could not withstand the excruciating pain of a severed hand.
He sat up halfway on the bed, clutching his right hand with his left, continuously emitting loud screams mixed with sobs. Tears streamed down his face, but they couldn't stop the gushing blood.
If Marvin didn't treat his wound quickly, he might soon bleed to death.
Of course, this wouldn't happen, because Liens wouldn't give Marvin that much time.
Moreover, Marvin's screams would attract the Training Camp's patrol guards, and Liens's assassination time was running out.
Things were progressing rather smoothly; the longsword had actually cut off Marvin's right hand.
He had initially thought this attack would also be blocked by the light barrier.
Could it be that the magic equipment protecting Marvin could only defend against truly fatal attacks?
Liens didn't know, but it didn't stop him from preparing to use the next sword strike to confirm whether the light barrier protecting Marvin had failed.
While Marvin was still wailing on the bed, Liens quietly stood by, silently enduring the punishment of the "contract."
At the same time, after the punishment ended, he quietly recovered his physical state, preparing for the next attack.
Soon, Liens drew his sword and swiftly thrust it towards Marvin's left chest, at the heart's location.
This time, there was no light barrier to block the longsword as it pierced his heart.
Marvin stared blankly at the longsword that had passed through his chest. At that moment, he seemed to no longer feel pain, and his wails ceased.
Blood slowly welled up into his mouth, blocking Marvin's ability to make any further sound.
"Uh uh…"
Marvin's hands dropped, and his body slumped onto the bed, his eyes gradually losing their luster.
He was dying, but unfortunately, Liens couldn't witness this scene. This chapter was originally posted on *.
Two consecutive punishments in a short period caused Liens to collapse after managing to thrust the longsword into Marvin's chest.
He wasn't dead; it was just that the pain he endured made him unable to support his own body.
Liens lay on the ground, eyes vacant, mouth slightly agape, saliva drooling from the corner of his lips, as if immersed in a vast dream filled only with pain.
Not long after, several patrolling guards who heard the commotion broke through the door and stormed into Marvin's room.
By the dim light within the room, they clearly saw the scene before them.
Lord Marvin appeared to be dead on the bed, a longsword plunged into his chest, a large amount of blood flowing, even spreading beneath the bed.
The prime suspect was the suspicious figure currently lying on the ground.
The guards were greatly shocked by this sight. Faced with such an event, they couldn't believe it and dared not be careless.
One person was immediately dispatched to inform the Instructor, another stepped forward to check on Marvin's condition, while the others surrounded the area, not daring to act rashly and disturb the scene.
One guard knelt on the ground, confirmed that Liens was not dead, and then directly slapped Liens's face hard.
He wanted to wake Liens up this way.
His direct adoption of this method was also somewhat related to his recognition of Liens's identity.
The clothes worn by normal guards and Trainees were different, making it easy to distinguish them.
After confirming that Liens was just a Trainee, he naturally wouldn't be polite when taking action.
After all, it was highly suspicious for Liens, a Trainee, to appear here late at night. Regardless of whether Liens was truly problematic, he was practically doomed.
After being slapped by the guard, Liens also recovered from the intense throbbing pain in his brain.
Liens ignored the guard beside him. He struggled to get up, wanting to confirm his results.
"Heh, haha…"
Liens laughed.
Seeing Marvin's fallen body, he laughed with joy.
The guards beside him watched him laugh inexplicably, finding it very strange and thinking Liens might have been scared silly.
After confirming his results, Liens didn't care about the guards' opinions and directly exited the instance, returning to the white space.
…
White space.
"Things went smoothly. It's confirmed that the magic ring protected Marvin, and the ring that released the light barrier was worn on Marvin's right hand."
Liens muttered to himself, a hint of excitement in his voice.
The excitement hadn't faded yet; after all, it was something he had worked so hard for, enduring constant intense pain throughout the process.
It could be said that Liens's desire to kill Marvin now wasn't just because Marvin threatened his safety.
It was also an act of revenge for the pain and torment he had endured.
So, how could he not be happy after successfully achieving the feat of killing Marvin?
Although he had only killed Marvin once in the instance, where there was a first, there would be a second. He was not far from completely killing Marvin in reality.
Of course, Liens also knew that when it came to killing Marvin in reality, he certainly couldn't use such a crude method.
The previous method was used because he needed to quickly confirm the location of the magic item.
Only then could he proceed with the next step.
Therefore, Liens still believed it would be better for Marvin to die without feeling anything.
Ideally, the assassination would be completed before Marvin even woke up.
That way, there wouldn't be much noise, and he would have enough time to deal with the scene and escape successfully.
"Slowly, now that it's confirmed the magic ring that releases the light barrier is on Marvin's right hand."
"Then, the next step is to determine which finger the ring is on?"
"And then, practice thieving skills to quickly snatch the ring from Marvin's hand."
"Finally, strike with the sword and kill!"
Liens thought with a slight smirk.
He was formulating his next plan.
There was still a lot of preparatory work, but Liens could already see hope.
He seemed to see a future scene—he held a blood-dripping longsword, blood spread all over the ground beneath his feet, Marvin's body lay on the bed, and his head rolled onto the floor.
…
The autumn wind brought a refreshing coolness.
It was now the Harvest Season, and the temperature was much cooler compared to the Hot Season.
Quite some time had passed since Liens's first "killing of Marvin" in the instance, and a few more of the remaining Trainees had died.
The reasons for their deaths were surprisingly consistent: all were executed by the Instructor for provoking him and training passively.
Liens knew the indirect cause of this outcome.
It was recorded in Marvin's latest experimental diary.
Because Liens had not achieved any results, Marvin had selected a few more Trainees as test subjects.
This time, Marvin was even a bit anxious and increased the dosage of the magic flower juice, causing those few to go mad even faster.
Seeing the fate of those Trainees, Liens once again strengthened his resolve to act quickly
