CHAPTER 294: CHAPTER 294: BRIBING_1

Qin Feiyang asked, "Can the Hall Master be released now?"

"Well..." Wang Hong hesitated.

Qin Feiyang’s eyelid twitched.

"The matter of Zuo An is not child’s play; there must be a reasonable explanation to the outside world." Wang Hong pondered for a moment and said with a faint smile, "Alright, I’ll order Yan Nanshan’s release after another year."

"Another year?" Qin Feiyang frowned.

Yan Nanshan laughed, "Feiyang, I know you’re concerned about me, but Commander Wang Hong is right. If they released me now, people outside would certainly have objections."

Qin Feiyang turned his head towards him, and Yan Nanshan smiled and nodded.

"Alright." With a sigh of resignation, Qin Feiyang looked to Wang Hong and asked, "Commander Wang, would it be possible for the Hall Master to go without those iron shackles?"

"I’m afraid that’s not possible.

"Because it’s a rule.

"It’s not just Yan Nanshan; even if it were me or the other commanders, or even the Four City Lords, if we committed a serious crime, we would have to wear the iron shackles," Wang Hong replied, shaking his head.

Yan Nanshan patted Qin Feiyang’s shoulder and laughed, "It’s okay. Isn’t it just one year? It will pass quickly."

Qin Feiyang sighed deeply and said with a smile, "Hall Master, take good care of yourself. I promise I’ll come for you on this day next year."

What else could he say when Wang Hong had made it so clear?

"Hmm," Yan Nanshan nodded and reminded, "Although your strength now far surpasses others your age, you must not be complacent. You have to work even harder."

"Don’t you know me?" Qin Feiyang laughed.

Yan Nanshan couldn’t help but laugh. Indeed, this young man in front of him didn’t need anyone to remind him, because he worked very hard by himself.

Ren Wushuang laughed and said, "Feiyang, let’s go!"

"Okay," Qin Feiyang nodded and said, "Hall Master, we’ll leave now."

"Go!" Yan Nanshan waved his hand.

"Hall Master, take care. When you get out, Master Fatty will take you to pick up girls," Fatty laughed wickedly.

"Pick up girls?" Yan Nanshan was taken aback, then laughed and scolded, "You damned Fatty, stop messing around! If I find out you’re holding Qin Feiyang back, I promise to spank your hide as soon as I get out!"

"Master Fatty is all meat; hit me all you want!" Fatty gave a roguish chuckle and hustled after Qin Feiyang and the others.

"I really can’t do anything about this kid," Yan Nanshan shook his head and smiled.

Wang Hong said, "You should feel lucky that you took them in. Otherwise, you might not be able to get out of this cage now."

Yan Nanshan nodded. "Yes, they will surely become the pillars of Spirit State in the future."

Wang Hong smiled, took out two iron chains, then turned and walked out of the cell, closing the stone door.

Standing in the corridor, Qin Feiyang glanced at the stone doors on both sides and asked, "Commander Wang, which cell is Wei Zhongyang in?"

Wang Hong thought for a moment and said, "I think he’s in Cell Five."

Qin Feiyang said, "Can I see him?"

"Well..." After glancing at Ren Wushuang, Wang Hong nodded. "Alright. Men!"

The tower door opened, and the Guard Commander jogged over, bowing. "Commander Wang, any instructions?"

Wang Hong said, "Open Cell Five."

"Yes." The Guard Commander ran to Cell Five’s door, took out the pentagonal key, and quickly opened the stone door.

Wei Zhongyang was sitting inside, looking even more miserable than Yan Nanshan. Looking at the Guard Commander outside the door, he asked hoarsely, "Sir, are you going to release me?"

The Guard Commander gave him a contemptuous glance and moved aside.

Qin Feiyang strode over and stood in front of the door.

"Why is it you?" Wei Zhongyang’s face changed, his eyes full of incredulity.

"Surprised?" A small smile played on Qin Feiyang’s lips as he walked into the cell and squatted in front of Wei Zhongyang. "Are you wondering why Commander Xu didn’t kill me?"

A cold glint flickered in Wei Zhongyang’s eyes. But when he saw Wang Hong and Ren Wushuang outside the door, the coldness was immediately replaced with confusion. He asked, "What are you talking about? Why would Commander Xu kill you?"

"Playing dumb?" Qin Feiyang paused for a moment, then moved closer to Wei Zhongyang’s ear and whispered, "If Wang Hong and the others weren’t here, I’d kill you right now.

"But seeing you in such a mess, living a life worse than death every day, is quite satisfying.

"You just stay here and suffer!"

After finishing, Qin Feiyang got up and strode off proudly.

Just as the stone door closed, Wei Zhongyang’s face contorted, becoming utterly ferocious.

Once out of the prison, Wang Hong turned into a streak of light and quickly disappeared.

The Guard Commander walked up to Qin Feiyang, clasped his hands in apology, and said, "Young man, I’m sorry about earlier. Please forgive me."

"It’s nothing," Qin Feiyang glanced at him indifferently, then, leading Fatty, Lu Hong, and the Wolf King, followed Ren Wushuang and left.

I must get that dagger! As the Guard Commander watched Qin Feiyang’s receding figure, his eyes glowed with a sinister light.

He turned and reentered the fortress, opening Yan Nanshan’s cell.

Yan Nanshan had already been shackled. He looked up at the Guard Commander and asked with a smile, "Guard Commander, what can I do for you?"

"Of course, there’s something." The Guard Commander went up and slapped Yan Nanshan across the face.

"What are you doing?" Yan Nanshan’s face darkened, and a trickle of blood seeped from the corner of his mouth.

"What am I doing?

"Weren’t you very tough just now?

"Go on, fight back!

"Useless trash! Daring to injure me? You’re simply courting death!" The Guard Commander sneered, punching and kicking Yan Nanshan, his entire being radiating malice.

But throughout the ordeal, Yan Nanshan didn’t even grunt, merely watching the Guard Commander coldly.

"The skin of useless scum like you is so thick it hurt my hand.

"Trash!"

It seemed he had vented his anger. The Guard Commander shook out his hand, spat on Yan Nanshan’s face, then left the cell, laughing triumphantly.

But as he was about to close the door, he saw Yan Nanshan’s icy gaze and couldn’t help but shiver.

"Congratulations, you’ve thoroughly pissed me off!

"You just wait. I won’t let you leave this prison alive!

"Because in here, I am the law! I have ten thousand ways to torture you to death!" A terrifying murderous intent flashed in his eyes, and WITH A BANG, he slammed the stone door shut.

Then, he opened Wei Zhongyang’s cell and strode in.

Looking down on Wei Zhongyang, he sneered, "Do you want to live?"

"Yes." Wei Zhongyang nodded, his face full of pleading.

"Fine. I need to know everything about Qin Feiyang, the more detailed the better," the Guard Commander said with a cold smile.

...

「Meanwhile.」

Qin Feiyang and his group had returned to the courtyard.

Ren Wushuang asked, "Feiyang, do you blame me for not being able to help rescue Yan Nanshan?"

"No." Qin Feiyang shook his head.

Though Ren Wushuang was the granddaughter of the Mansion Lord, she held no real power. There were some things she couldn’t decide. Besides, the Mansion Lord had already forbidden her from giving him any help.

Qin Feiyang asked, "Sister, in which city sector is the Treasure Pavilion? I want to buy some things."

Ren Wushuang said, "All four city sectors except the central one have one. Do you want me to take you there?"

"Better not, lest your grandfather scold you." Qin Feiyang laughed and walked out of the pavilion.

"Brother Wolf, let’s go wreak havoc!" Fatty cried out excitedly.

"We are indeed kindred spirits! Wreaking havoc in the State City will definitely be more exhilarating than in Yan City!" The Wolf King reared up on his hind legs, then shot out like a rocket.

Ren Wushuang’s face darkened. "You two better behave!" she said furiously. "Fighting is forbidden in the State City!"

"We know!"

"So naggy!"

The man and wolf retorted impatiently, arm in arm, grinning wickedly.

They are really two agents of chaos, Lu Hong thought, following behind them and shaking her head helplessly.

The estate was immense. After walking for an hour and asking a guard for directions, the three humans and one wolf finally managed to exit.

Looking back, the estate gate was imposing. Two gleaming golden lions stood majestically on either side.

"They’re actually made of gold!" Fatty and the Wolf King’s eyes lit up, and they began to drool.

The four guards at the gate, alerted by their excitement, looked at them warily, as if they were thieves.

A vein throbbed on Qin Feiyang’s forehead. "Stop embarrassing me and get going!" he snapped, kicking each of them once.

Lu Hong chuckled. "I think they should stay in the fortress; otherwise, they’re sure to cause trouble."

Just as she finished speaking, Fatty and the Wolf King turned and glared fiercely at her.

Lu Hong shook her head with a wry smile, waving her hands. "Okay, okay, consider it unsaid."

The man and wolf grinned triumphantly and swaggered down the street, their eyes darting furtively towards the shops on either side. Who knew what mischief they were plotting?

Qin Feiyang, however, kept his head down the entire way, seemingly lost in thought.

"What are you thinking about?" Lu Hong eyed him suspiciously for a moment before she couldn’t help asking.

"I’m worried about Yan Nanshan," Qin Feiyang said.

"Didn’t they say he’d be released in a year? What are you worried about?" Lu Hong was puzzled.

"That Guard Commander is clearly bad news. Yan Nanshan injured him earlier, and I’m worried he’ll use this chance to retaliate," Qin Feiyang said.

Lu Hong thought for a moment, then nodded. "You might be right; that’s a real possibility. And from what I observed, the way that Guard Commander looked at you in the end was a little strange."

"Strange?" Qin Feiyang looked up at her in doubt.

At that time, all his attention had been on Yan Nanshan; he hadn’t paid much mind to the Guard Commander.

Lu Hong said, "His gaze seemed to hold a trace of greed."

"Greed?" Qin Feiyang quirked an eyebrow.

Suddenly, as if he’d realized something, a sharp light flashed in his eyes.

Simultaneously, Lu Hong’s gaze turned cold. "I understand," she said. "He must be coveting Blue Snow!"

"You’re thinking the same thing I am," Qin Feiyang stated grimly.

At that time, apart from Blue Snow, they hadn’t taken out anything else. So, that had to be the only explanation.

"What should we do then?" Lu Hong asked, a hint of worry in her voice.

Qin Feiyang pondered for a moment, then looked up at Fatty. "Fatty, come here."

"What is it?" Fatty turned to look at him.

Qin Feiyang snapped, "Just come when I call you! Why all the nonsense?"

Fatty and the Wolf King exchanged puzzled glances, wondering why he had suddenly gotten angry, and walked over to Qin Feiyang.

Qin Feiyang said to Fatty, "I need you to bribe the guards garrisoning the prison in the shortest time possible—but exclude the Guard Commander."

"Bribe them? Why?" Fatty was puzzled.

Qin Feiyang lowered his voice and voiced his concerns.
