CHAPTER 584: CHAPTER 571: EMOTIONAL QUOTIENT WORRISOME_3
"The crux of the matter is, we’re not the only group in the Death Marsh anymore. There are people from the other eight major prefectures."
"So, as we advance, we not only need to maintain formation but also remain vigilant of our surroundings."
"Because any slight disturbance could conceal deadly danger."
"Understand?" Ren Wushuang commanded.
"Understood!" everyone affirmed with a nod.
"Good. Now, I’ll make the arrangements," Ren Wushuang continued.
"Qin Feiyang, Fatty, you two will take point with me.
"Dong Zhengyang, Lu Xingchen, you two will cover our rear.
"Shen Long, Jiang Wei, you will lead the Eight-star War Emperors and guard our flanks.
"The rest of you must also protect each other.
"Furthermore, if any more disputes arise, regardless of who is involved, they will be killed on the spot!"
As she finished, Ren Wushuang’s voice became incredibly sharp, like an invisible blade, making everyone tremble.
"Move!"
Then, with a wave of Ren Wushuang’s hand, everyone quickly formed ranks and cautiously advanced towards the jungle ahead.
Fatty chuckled. "Boss, when Miss Ren gets serious, she really has an air of authority."
"She’s the Mansion Lord’s granddaughter; it’d be strange if she didn’t," Qin Feiyang said. "Enough chatter. Scan carefully ahead."
His expression was stern, his gaze sharp as lightning, as he scanned the path before them. He paid particular attention to bushes and patches of tall grass where people could hide.
After the group had covered some distance, Ren Wushuang moved to the front to walk beside Qin Feiyang. "Noticed anything unusual?" she asked.
Qin Feiyang shook his head. "Not yet."
"Even so, we mustn’t lower our guard," Ren Wushuang said.
Along the way, everyone remained silent, their senses heightened, listening and watching in all directions. Even the normally restless Xui Yang and Wu Yan were uncharacteristically subdued. A deathly silence hung in the air, broken only by the sound of their footsteps.
Around noon, someone suggested finding a place to rest for a bit. Ren Wushuang considered it and agreed. Although they hadn’t encountered any danger, everyone’s nerves had been stretched taut. After so long, fatigue was inevitable.
A short while later, they found an ideal resting spot. It was still a desolate stretch of woods, but within a five to six-hundred-meter radius, there were no large trees—only wild grass, shrubs, and a small pond. The terrain was also quite flat. Consequently, their field of vision was very open, allowing them to immediately detect anyone approaching or anything unusual.
However, Qin Feiyang and Fatty did not rest. They stood atop a large black rock, scanning their surroundings, not missing any suspicious detail.
After getting the others settled, Ren Wushuang walked over, hopped onto the rock, and stood beside Qin Feiyang. "Anything?" she asked.
"Nothing to report. Seems clear for now," Qin Feiyang replied, shaking his head.
"That’s good." Ren Wushuang sighed in relief. With concern in her voice, she asked, "Are you tired? If you are, go get some rest."
Qin Feiyang smiled. "An environment like this is nothing to me. You go rest."
Since leaving the Imperial Capital, he had lived like a fugitive; there was hardly a place he hadn’t been. Thus, his ability to adapt to strange environments and his capacity to endure unknown dangers far surpassed those of others his age.
"I’m not tired either." Ren Wushuang shook her head.
She had endured the Land of Ruins; naturally, this place would be no different.
Suddenly, Shen Mei opened her eyes. She gazed at the nearby pond, seemingly wrestling with some internal conflict. Finally, she got up and walked over to Qin Feiyang, Fatty, and Ren Wushuang. She hesitated for a moment before saying, "Err... Qin Feiyang, could you please check that pond?"
"What do you mean?" Qin Feiyang was taken aback.
"AHEM!" Fatty coughed into his fist and chuckled. "Boss, you don’t even get this? Your EQ is seriously worrying!"
"Huh?" Qin Feiyang gave Fatty a suspicious glance, then studied Shen Mei’s demeanor. Understanding gradually dawned on him.
