CHAPTER 1669: CHAPTER 62: CLIMBING THE SKY LADDER_2
Tang Zheng didn’t move, nor did the Warhammer Team make a move, while Yan Chiyang’s ESP superpower squad shifted positions. From the looks of it, Tang Zheng won the first round.
Di Jingfei frowned. The opponent was indeed not weak, and his Ability was peculiar. Luckily, he hadn’t acted just now; if he had failed to subdue Tang in a single strike, he would’ve lost face.
Of course, the Low-Bow Dragon King firmly believed that if he went all out, he could absolutely crush Tang Zheng.
"This kid is pretty impressive. No wonder he has connections with Binson and Vasily."
Words are one thing, but in Trojan World, strength is the true currency. This time, all the Trojan squads started to take Tang Zheng seriously.
"If you guys want to fight, you can wait until after the boss battle," Vasily said as he wiped the wine stains from the corner of his mouth with the back of his hand. "I don’t want to lose absolute combat power before even getting to see Buddha Mother."
Looking at those Russian soldiers in military green coats, the Nuclear Flame also had to weigh Vasily’s words carefully.
"Hmph, King of War, I’ll give you this courtesy." Yan Chiyang, seeing the Warhammer Team gearing up, figured he couldn’t take down Tang Zheng temporarily, so he used this opportunity to retreat for now. However, he wasn’t letting Tang Zheng off easily. "Tang Zheng, how’s the effect of the Fire Seed? Raised you so much—shouldn’t you share some experience with everyone?"
Some Conquerors who had heard of the Fire Seed had eyes blazing with desire. Their gaze at Tang Zheng was like he was some kind of spiritual elixir they wanted to consume.
"It’s great, but unfortunately, this thing works for only one person. Otherwise, everyone in our Warhammer Team would be as good as Triple-S rank." Tang Zheng replied calmly, subtly discouraging those with ulterior motives from targeting him.
Of course, there were certainly some who didn’t believe him, but that wasn’t a problem. If anyone dared to come for him, Tang Zheng would make them understand the meaning of regret.
"Fire Seed? That’s nothing. My uncle even fused with the Key of Time and Space. If I told you, you’d probably die of jealousy," Lu Fan muttered, clearly wanting to smash Yan Chiyang’s face.
Teleportation didn’t stop. When Earl Qian Nian arrived as the last participant, the Trojan announcement rang out.
"The Dark Eight Leaves has been slain. The Sky Ladder leading to Kunlun is open. Proceed immediately and kill Buddha Mother, Peacock King!"
As the words fell, the volcano’s rim started to tremble violently. The surrounding space seemed to solidify before shattering like broken glass, with cracks spreading and fragments falling apart.
Raising their heads again, the group saw an expansive white cloud layer stretching for thousands of miles. Among the falling debris, marble steps began forming out of nowhere, eventually creating a rotating heavenly ladder.
The marble platforms floated mid-air through some mysterious force, appearing slick as if freshly wet, with dew droplets clinging to them. Green moss in the corners was lush and verdant after a cleansing rain.
No one moved. Everyone was observing the steps, trying to discern what lay beyond the clouds.
Bingxu carefully folded his newspaper and placed it into his briefcase. Then, standing, he waved his left hand and stored the bench into his wristwatch.
"Let’s go!" Bingxu said calmly, grabbing the briefcase in a manner eerily reminiscent of a white-collar heading off to work.
The crowd quickly made way.
Bingxu was the first to ascend the steps, never once raising his head to look at the clouds, nor showing any sign of apprehension.
The Night Saint team emerged next, led by Smiling Witch Emily. Behind her were six men and six women. Even knowing they’d face more ambushes being the first team to climb the Sky Ladder, their faces remained expressionless.
"Tsk, Bingxu took the lead. Let’s go too!" Vasily finished the last sip of his liquor and tossed the bottle aside.
A group of soldiers dressed in military coats followed, their military boots stamping resilient footprints into the ground.
"Move out!" As a princess, the Blade Empress, regardless of the situation, never lost her royal demeanor. She strode ahead confidently toward the steps.
The Blade Team hurried to follow. They revered their group leader deeply, prepared to follow her even into a sea of flames.
"Brother, we’re going on ahead!" Mirene waved at Tang Zheng, playfully jogging to catch up with her sister.
The little one wasn’t scared of heights at all, even leaning out beyond the ladder to look down curiously.
Smack! Elizabeth slapped her sister on the head.
Mirene stuck her tongue out but behaved after that.
"Hmph!" Naturally, Di Jingfei wouldn’t let his momentum lag and began ascending the Sky Ladder.
"Sigh, if only our group leader wasn’t so prideful..." a middle-aged man muttered under his breath. Meanwhile, Li Yuan looked positively thrilled; his jaw nearly reached the clouds as he stared at the hundreds of Trojan squads lined up around them.
As they passed Tang Zheng, Li Yuan let out a disdainful snort, as if to imply that they were in entirely different leagues.
Among so many teams, some reckless leaders inevitably stepped forward after seeing others take the lead, but they stopped abruptly after hearing a cold snort.
Nuclear Flame’s icy gaze swept over them, and then, floating a foot above the ground, he ascended the steps effortlessly.
"What the hell? Nobody knows what danger lies ahead, why rush to die?" someone complained.
"You know nothing. That represents strength and courage—it also symbolizes reputation and status."
"A Seed is still missing!"
A few group leaders stopped competing and turned to look toward the crowd.
Earl Qian Nian, having lived for centuries, was entirely indifferent to such vanity. His gaze stayed fixed on Tao Ran.
The Black Long Straight couldn’t help but squirm under his penetrating stare.
