Chapter 157: Your A Spy
CHAPTER 157: YOUR A SPY
Sofia was watching the TV when she came across the news...
Her men were attacked by a helicopter, one clearly seen to have come from the capital.
It was reported that there were bags of money with them, which they had stolen from Sky Bank ten kilometres away from the scene of their van crash.
"Phew..."
Sofia couldn’t help but clench her teeth and fists, desperately furious. She never sent them to rob a bank... So why did they go to rob a bank?
She heard the reporters state that there were only three men inside the van, which gave her a straight clue that Rhea wasn’t with them.
But she wondered why? They were in the same gang, and could have gone on the operation together.
That didn’t baffle her too much...
"Holy... Crap."
The one that baffled her the most was the massacre in the bank, which they stated that the robbers had done.
Thirty-six lives lost, two severely injured because they were shot. Sofia couldn’t get herself to believe that they did this, even though she knew really well the kind of person that Razer was.
He was the heartless type, but...
But Sofia didn’t know that heartlessness would be enough to make him kill thirty-six people without flinching.
There, live, before national television, they showed the corpses of the dead robbers, who Lady Harper had reportedly killed.
Sofia swallowed hard. "Shit! Shit! Shit!"
Her men were gone? That meant her plans were terminated too, right?
"No!"
"No!"
"No!"
Sofia grabbed a glass on the table and smashed it against the ground angrily. As if that wasn’t enough, she did no good to the table as well, turning it upside down.
That rage... That anger.
It burned hard inside her... Hard to the extent that she wanted to claw her face.
But all that didn’t matter at that point. One thing was clear, she had lost it...
These men were getting close to getting the job done. She was slowly feeling like it would come through. That it would come through to see Jayden cry once again, like he once did, and then she would have him make a choice to live, by being with her again, or die.
All those thoughts had become fantasies now.
She felt like it was never going to happen. He had the upper hand now, and there was nothing she could do.
Sofia sat on the floor and thought wide, her face completely dark as she tried to find a way out of this mess.
She didn’t want to accept that it was over.
After spending a lot, she was afraid she might make another failed plan.
After a while, she had to make herself believe that she wouldn’t be able to do this alone.
She soon began to believe that, and then, she had to think of what to do next.
What could make her plans work out.
Then in a moment, a sudden realisation flashed in.
"Heh..."
"Heh...!"
She suddenly thought about some plan. A good move that could actually change everything.
With a soft sigh...
"The enemy of my enemy is my friend," she muttered.
Sofia smiled and stood up, heading to the next room.
"This is not over, Jayden..."
"This is not over."
*****
"Mister President. There’s a strange visitor from Nortasia. She’s a woman, a young woman," a man said.
Liam Thompson turned and glared.
"What’s that shameless bitch of an Advocate doing here?" he asked.
The man shook his head at once.
"Uhm, Mister President. It’s not her. This one’s different. Her name is Sofia Hartley. Says she is a weapon expert who worked in The Dominus Defence Unit. Says she’s here to have a good talk with you," the man announced.
At that point, Liam’s eyes suddenly brightened.
"Oh, let her in," he said. "I’ll meet her at the guest house."
With that, the man left and Liam was left to think wide, slightly confused.
"A woman from Nortasia. Is this a setup or something? A spy?" he asked himself.
With that straight thought, he didn’t waste any more time as he headed out to see who this young lady was.
...
"Good day, Mister President. I’m Sofia Hartley."
"Save your greetings to yourself. What do you want?" Liam asked, his face completely stern like he wouldn’t wait a second before punching her in the face.
"I don’t want anything, Mister President," Sofia said with a calm smile.
"You know I can have them cut off your head?" Liam was disgusted by her calm aura, and it indeed had begun to piss him off.
"I know, Mister President. But this... This isn’t about getting my head cut off. It’s about what my purpose here is," she said, still calm.
Her tone was relaxed, and they all could clearly sense it.
It was just as if her visit here was about something advantageous, and soon, Liam was already becoming interested in what she wanted to say.
"Go on," he said.
Sofia smiled again as she nodded, and went on to speak.
"I want us to have a negotiation, Mister President. I want to help you... Or rather, join you," she said.
Liam glared at her but didn’t say a word at first.
"Like I said. I’m a weapon expert, and I can help you... In any way possible," she added.
Liam stayed silent for a moment before giving a rough chuckle.
He glanced at the men around, who also felt his body language and chuckled repeatedly as well.
After a while of indirectly teasing her, Liam decided to speak.
"Did we tell you we need a weapon expert?" Liam asked.
"Did you happen to forget that we are Icelandians? We have the best and deadliest weapons the world has ever seen. The best of experts as well. We can singlehandedly take on the whole world, even without breaking a sweat, and you think we would need your help?" he asked, chuckling again.
After heaving a soft sigh, he signaled the two security guards at the side to step up.
"Take her away. She’s a spy. Jayden wants her to spy on us to know the secret of how we create our weapons. But unfortunately, they aren’t that wise," Liam said.
The two men suddenly came and grabbed Sofia.
"No no no! You don’t get it. I’m against Jayden. You should trust me. I want to help you take him down!" Sofia shouted, trying to explain as they dragged her away.
"He’s building something deadly, one that your weapon experts would never beat. You have to believe me or else you will lose!" Sofia shouted.
However, she still wasn’t given the chance to speak, as they carried her away.
The next place she found herself was in a cell in the nearest FBI base.
She never thought that it would end this way. She thought it would work out... That telling him she was an ex-worker in The Dominus Defence Unit would get him convinced.
Everything went south in the end, as she was thrown into bondage, with no one she had at all to get her out.
"Is this really the end?" she asked herself...
This time, it really was looking like it.
*******
Her eyes opened... Finally.
After what seemed like eternity.
Rhea discovered that she was alive... She couldn’t believe it.
She thought she was going to die after that drastic crash in the van.
But she was alive, somehow, waking up to a male doctor standing at the side.
When the doctor noticed her, he quickly rushed to her at once.
"Ohh... Hey... You are awake," a smile appeared on his face.
A smile that explained a clear picture of hopeless hope restored.
She had once looked like she was never going to wake up, quite a while in coma, and he was already giving up.
But now, she was awake.
"You are going to be okay. You are fine."
The doctor noticed her trying to move and had to calm her down.
"How... How long have I been here?" Rhea asked in a faint tone.
"Twelve days?" the doctor hesitated before replying.
Rhea’s eyes suddenly widened, as she added more effort into trying to stand up.
"Woo woo! Stop it. You are not entirely fine yet. You are going to hurt yourself," he said in a bellow.
"I have to go now, please!" Rhea shouted.
"Not now, you are not completely fit to leave, okay?"
Rhea wasn’t paying heed to what he was saying, and still kept struggling, until he had to put handcuffs on both hands and legs.
"What are you doing?! Let me go!" Rhea shouted, sobbing and struggling.
"Uhmm, I’ll be back in a sec," the doctor said as he rushed out of the room.
In a few moments, he came back with a lady. One who she immediately recognised.
Lady Harper. One of The Core members under President Jayden Cole.
It was at that moment she knew she was as good as dead, though she still wondered why they saved her.
Harper approached her with an unfriendly look, staring death into her eyes.
"You are under arrest for robbing a bank with money costing over twenty million dollars, and the joint murder of thirty-six people in the same bank where the robbery happened," Harper said.
"I didn’t do the killing. Razer did," Rhea said.
"Oh, really? How true is that?" Harper asked.
"Because I’m no killer," Rhea responded.
Harper chuckled, and before she could reply...
"Please, I need to see my sister."
With that sincere tone from Rhea, something was felt
