Chapter 160: You Are Going To Get Your People Killed
CHAPTER 160: YOU ARE GOING TO GET YOUR PEOPLE KILLED
Jayden’s heart skipped at once.
At that very point, he couldn’t even utter a word. He just stood there and watched, watching the broadcasted scene of houses burning and people running helter skelter around the places.
There were lots of ambulances, all driving from one place to another.
It was a tragic, dark image... one that almost made him fall on his knees and cry his eyes out.
But Jayden calmed himself.
He heaved a long sigh and turned to the direction of the footsteps, which was Charlotte and Temi approaching.
They both had faint looks on their faces, and it was clear that they had heard about it too.
They both approached him and held his hand, seeing the boiling emotion rise.
"The Icelandians did this," Charlotte said.
"I know," Jayden gave her a striking look and said.
"That’s a dare," Temi joined.
However, Jayden shook his head.
"No, it’s a call for war."
With that, he stood up and walked away, entering his room where he locked the door and pondered on what to do.
President Liam just pulled his leg at the very moment he wasn’t expecting it. That was a hell of an act, and Jayden...
He wasn’t going to let that happen and slide.
After all, it didn’t look like they would stop.
Eighty seven people died today in Northern Fenille, a state located in the west. It was indeed a big disaster, and knowing that their President wouldn’t do anything about it would make them lose hope in him.
This was a strong call on Jayden, and he knew he had to do something.
...
He had to call Harper and the rest of the ladies later on to have a discussion. They already knew what happened.
Everyone in Nortasia already knew what happened. While it was still a bad time, the President would be needed to make a speech to the nation.
That was inevitable, or else they would think he was another fearful coward just like King Arthur Roger.
"I had the feeling they would strike first," Paula said, her eyes dark.
"Well, that’s better. At least the world would know why we are fighting them when the war begins," Harper said with a stern face.
"Are we really going to fight Icelandia?" Temi asked, her face filled with both worry and curiosity.
"Yes, Temi. What were you expecting?" Harper responded.
Jayden was there, silent for a while. But then he finally spoke up.
"Charlotte, how much would it cost to build a defense system around the whole country?" Jayden asked.
"What? You mean the entire country?" she asked with widened eyes.
Jayden nodded. "Yes."
"Well, billions of dollars. Tens, most precisely," Charlotte said as she shook her head in plain uncertainty.
"You and Harper... you should build it. You should start immediately. We don’t know when they would strike next," Jayden said as he clenched his fist, his eyes dark.
"But wait... we don’t..."
"I’m certain. You both should get that done right on time or it might not go easy," Jayden cut in.
Just then, while he was speaking, another news popped on the TV right on the same channel.
"We just received news. There was a blast at Eastern NorthVille three minutes ago. About eighty buildings have been destroyed, with over three hundred lives estimated to be inside these destroyed buildings, which could result in claiming their lives."
"The people are in panic, the nation is in fear. They need the President to act on this, because this doesn’t seem like it’s over."
The new news broke Jayden into pieces, and he watched, eyes fixed on the screen like he had been frozen on the spot.
Just a while ago, he heard about Northern Fenille and even saw it with his own eyes. And now something even worse happened in one of the most economic cities in the country.
"I’ll get to work," Charlotte quickly stood up.
"Let’s go," Harper also stood up and left.
It didn’t take long after they left before the telephone at the side rang.
Temi helped pick up, because after all she was the information manager.
"Who’s this?" she asked.
"Oh, it’s me... President Liam Thompson. Just wanted to say hi to your stubborn little boyfriend or husband... I don’t know..."
Jayden quickly stood up.
"You did this," he said.
"Yeah I did. That’s just a warning, Mister President," Liam said on the other end with an intimidating tone.
"It’s just a warning for you, boy. You have to make things right to prevent more. Or there would be more. More interesting and bombastic blasts that might just have to claim the entire little country of yours," Liam added.
"You can only fix this by just accepting the deal I provided. A good, smooth alliance with Nortasia, and everything would be fine."
Jayden and the rest of them heard him speak, their eyes burning in rage, but yes, they wouldn’t be able to unleash their anger from there.
"I’m gonna make you pay, President Liam. You just drew a red line between both of us, and we’ll be the winning side," Jayden said in a sharp tone.
"Winning side, huh? With what?" President Liam chuckled.
"You have no idea what you are wishing for, Jayden Cole. You really don’t, and it might get ugly soon. You aren’t gonna win against me. You wouldn’t even be able to try," he said.
"We have the best defense systems the whole goddamned world has ever seen. The best armies? Oh yeah, we got the numbers. The best weapons? We have every type on earth."
"You are going to get your people killed, Jayden. Stop being a little boy and accept the deal. Be a man, just like other Presidents out there. They chose to save their people and honor the deal, but you? You aren’t?"
"I will destroy Nortasia, Jayden. I will, if you don’t do what’s right."
Jayden stayed silent for a moment and even Temi didn’t say a word.
But then... in a moment...
"We will see about that," Jayden finally spoke, as he made Temi end the call.
"Now that’s a threat. What are we going to do?" Paula asked.
"We fight their asses," Camilia responded. "We are not going to be like the rest of the country. That man is a tyrant. We have to eliminate him."
Jayden gave her a look and nodded. She had been there with him in the All President Meeting and knew the way the other Presidents shivered upon his presence.
How they feared to speak up or object to every decision he made.
Camilia figured that has to stop, and maybe...
Just maybe it will be their job to stop it. For the sake of Nortasia.
For the sake of the world.

Kael and Royce had had the best of their training after being specially injected with the Serum.
Although Royce got his before he accepted to be one of them, that had changed his mind after all.
The Serum was said to be a mind-changing liquid that could make one forget about everything, or literally have no affection for anything apart from the people of Nexus.
It was known to be unsafe when one wouldn’t pass the test and get injected. The side effects were untold, but severe, and that’s why Dale was killed when he tried to speak up against it.
Royce had completely forgotten that, or literally found it not significant anymore after getting injected.
Now, he didn’t know.
He was just there, trying to make the best out of himself and try to be the people’s favorite Chosen One again.
Now, they were asked to train the rest of the Sovereign Protocol army before they embarked on the mission.
Royce was already giving Kael cold shoulders, and every moment when the people cheered for him made it even worse for him to bear.
He decided to keep being mean, not because he wanted to, but because his envy wasn’t endurable.
"You should come with me for training today. You skipped yesterday’s. The Grandmaster might get mad," Kael said.
"No, go," Royce objected, staring down.
Kael noticed his mood and walked a little closer.
"You said I did everything wrong, but you didn’t explain. Man, I get loved by these people every day... I don’t think I’m being wrong... I really don’t think so," Kael said.
Royce raised his head and glared at him, but didn’t respond.
"Nah, I get it..." Kael continued. "Maybe you are jealous of me. Maybe you don’t like the way they just abandoned you and praised me, all out of nowhere after I showed up."
Kael sighed.
"We both know it’s all your fault, Royce. If you had passed the test, they would have loved the both of us equally, or maybe even loved you a little bit more because you are the First Chosen."
"But now look at you... angry... angry because you screwed things up and are getting punished for it. Trying to be hard on me or do some shit?" Kael chuckled.
"Let me point something out for you, Royce. In case you have forgotten who I am. I’m not a soft guy..." He paused and nodded. "Yes, these people might be making me soft to the eye but trust me, I’m not. You have to be careful with me..."
"Or else..." Kael laughed softly.
"You know, the guy with a lot of lovers and would always win," he added before walking away.
Royce was only there, clenching his fist in rage.
