CHAPTER 44: SHOCK, INVINCIBLE

"Kid, do you know who you are speaking to?"

"This brat has a death wish!"

"You dare look down on us? Be ready to pay the price for your arrogance!"

The little gangsters behind Steve suddenly erupted, all of them berating or threatening Michael.

This time, Steve did not prevent his subordinates from speaking at all. Instead, he looked at Michael, his eyes becoming colder.

At the same time, killing intent appeared in his eyes, as he decided, this kid had to be taught a lesson.

It had been so long since someone had ever spoken to him like this, and wanting to maintain his reputation, he had to make sure that the kid suffered a very brutal fate.

Kate on the other hand had not expected that Michael would be so blunt with his words.

This was clear provocation to the group of gangsters in front of them. Was he not afraid that they would start attacking him?

If they decided to strike, Kate did not have the confidence of dealing with them. And, despite Michael demonstrating great combat skills, would he actually be able to deal with these gangsters? She was not sure.

At this point, she realized, there was a great possibility that they would end up suffering in the hands of this group of gangsters.

She could think about claiming that she was a police officer, and showing off her badge. But was there any need for that, considering that someone had already exposed her as a police officer?

And from the look in the eyes of these guys, after they had realized that she was a police officer, they seemed to be quite excited to deal with her.

It was clear, her being a police officer did not intimidate them, but instead, it made them more eager to deal with her. It was clear, it was impossible for her to be able to deal with this situation easily.

While she was still slightly hesitating on whether to call her mother or not, Steve took a few steps and approached Michael.

At the moment, the gap separating the two of them was less than a meter.

Steve, who was 197cm tall, looked at Michael from above, as he was taller than Michael, who was only 184cm.

But even when he faced Steve, who was taller than him, Michael was not the least bit intimidated. Instead, he stared directly at Steve, without backing off.

Steve was also slightly surprised upon realizing that Michael seemed to have some confidence.

A few days after they had dealt with the blood tiger gang, he had received the information about Michael. He had investigated about Michael’s personality, and he understood him quite well.

It was just that, the information that he had received did not match the person that he was facing right now.

Raising his brows slightly, he said, "That’s great. I really like people who have the nerve to show their little courage in front of me. During the time that I will be dealing with you, I would like to see this cold expression on your face crumbling, only despair remaini- Gah!"

Steve was still in the process of speaking some harsh words to Michael when suddenly, he grunted, before dropping on his knees, clutching his stomach.

At this moment, his eyes had widened to the greatest extent that they could, while continuously retching.

The place fell into a moment of dead silence. Nobody had expected this.

The eyes of the gangsters that were glittering with anticipation, now were filled with shock as they looked at the youngster that was standing in front of the kneeling Steve.

Initially, they thought, after Steve had finished speaking, he would deal with Michael. But unexpectedly, even before Steve could finish speaking, Michael struck, landing a punch directly in Steve’s guts.

"You better stop blabbering so much nonsense. Get lost, I will come and deal with you later on. Tell Dante to find a secluded place, I will come and settle all our scores later." Michael spoke in a cold tone, while looking at Steve with a chilling expression on his face.

During the time that he had dealt with the gangsters within the orphanage, he had always been holding back.

Otherwise, with his strength after the enhancement brought about by the advanced level unarmed combat skill, just a single punch in the vital area was enough to be able to kill an ordinary person.

But right now, considering that there were children that were watching, he did not want to make things bloody.

If not for this, he would have made sure that all the gangsters present would suffer.

As for the retribution that would come with dealing with the gangsters, he was not afraid. It was not only due to his own ability, but Kate was here as well.

If he dealt with the gangsters, Kate could take care of the aftermath. But of course, he had no intention of relying on her to take care of his matters.

Steve’s bulging eyes lifted, looking at Michael who was looking at him with a cold expression on his face. At this moment, he felt tremendous terror in his heart.

In terms of combat, he was not a weakling. In fact, he was amongst the strongest among the gangsters within the surrounding areas.

This was the exact reason why he was so valued by Dante, despite his actions that sometimes went overboard. Additionally, he was someone who usually used his brain, basically, being the tactician of the entire gang.

It was just that, he had not anticipated that this young man in front of him was so formidable.

From just that single punch, he could tell, Michael possessed tremendous strength. If the two of them fought, he would inevitably lose.

With his face that had already turned red not only from the pain, but from anger and shame, he glared at the gangsters behind him.

With a pained voice, he asked, "What are you... waiting... for? Beat this... kid up... for me!"

Even though the gangsters looked hesitant, they still gritted their teeth and surrounded Michael and Kate.

Upon seeing this, Kate did not hesitate any longer, and made a call to her mother.

While the call was yet to connect, the gangsters took action. Michael responded as well, as he realized, he had to beat up these guys, in order to send them away first.

Considering the size of the field between the buildings in the orphanage, there was not that much space for Michael to maneuver after he was surrounded.

But even then, he was not the least bit nervous. His eyes were as calm as usual, even when faced with the group of gangsters that looked at him menacingly.

A sharp clang broke the silence as a metal rod swung toward him.

Thump!

Michael’s hand shot up, deflecting it with his bare hand, and his counter struck hard.

Thud!

The attacker grunted, stumbling back and collapsed onto the ground with a gasp.

Whoosh!

Another came in from the side, swinging the baseball bat in his hand at Michael’s head. The force at which he swung the baseball bat was intense, that the sound of it cutting through the air could be heard.

Crack!

Michael ducked, drove a quick punch into the man’s ribs and in the next moment, there was the sound of bones breaking.

Michael did not pay attention to the gangster who fell on the ground while screaming, as he moved on even before the man hit the ground.

Chaos erupted in the next moment, as within the crowd, Michael continuously moved around, his movements agile.

Clang! Thud! Smack!

Bodies fell one after another, grunts and gasps filling the tight space. Michael weaved through them easily, his movements fast for them to react.

Ting!

A knife clattered away as a man cried out, clutching his arm before dropping on his knees.

Within seconds, the noise of the battle died down, with only the grunts and screaming of the gangsters echoing in the air.

Steve had already retreated to the entrance of the orphanage during the time that the gangsters were surrounding Michael. Now, looking at the situation, his eyes were wide, expressing his shock.

"Hello? Hello?! Are you there Kate?! What’s going on there?!" At this moment, Kate, who was just as dumbfounded as Steve, was brought back to her senses by the sound that was coming from the earpiece of the phone in her hand.

Just before the fight broke out, Kate had decided to call her mother. It was just that, before the call connected, the gangsters took action.

But, it seemed that all of them were avoiding her, with the intention of dealing with Michael first. So, although she was prepared to fight, she was completely ignored.

Even though she kicked someone from behind, sending them tumbling on the ground, when that person stood up, he just glared at her, before rushing to attack Michael.

And, seeing how easy Michael was dealing with the gangsters, who were using different types of weapons to attack him, she was completely stunned.

Now, coming back to her senses, she realized, at some point, her mother had already received the call. It seemed that she had been speaking to her, but without receiving a response, and the screaming and grunting in the background, she was getting worried.

"Mom, I will call you back in a while." Kate responded before she quickly hung up.

Michael on the other hand gazed at Steve with a dangerous glint in his eyes. And seeing Michael setting his gaze on him, Steve felt completely unsettled.

"What are you intending to do? Let me warn you, better leave things as they are. Otherwise, if you try attacking me again, there will be no turning back." Steve, still clutching his stomach, threatened Michael.
