Internet Breaking: The Powerful CEO Reveals His Supermodel Wife
Chapter 392: Never Giving Up
CHAPTER 392: CHAPTER 392: NEVER GIVING UP
"Sorry, the phone you dialed is currently turned off..."
The cold artificial voice came from the phone. Ava raised an eyebrow, had this person already boarded the plane?
She checked the time; it was almost midnight. Indeed, it was time for him to leave.
Ava wasn’t disappointed. She opened her messages and sent a text to Poe Vaughn.
The call didn’t go through, but she could still send a message.
He would see it once he got off the plane.
If someone gives you something, you should express your gratitude positively. Otherwise, they might not give you anything next time.
So, she had to be proactive about this.
After sending the message, Ava felt relieved and happily fiddled with her phone.
It usually takes an hour by car from Green Hill Villa to The Kestrel Apartments, but since Ava was returning so late, there weren’t many cars on the road, and she arrived in less than an hour.
Ava brought Mrs. Wei into the community. Once home, she gave a brief introduction before arranging for Mrs. Wei to stay in the guest room.
"Mrs. Wei, you can sleep in this guest room. Feel free to arrange it however you like. You can organize anything in the house without asking me."
"Okay, ma’am."
Having given her instructions, Ava yawned and said, "I’m going to sleep. You should rest early too. Don’t call me unless it’s urgent."
"Okay."
Ava, half-closing her eyes, entered her room, changed into her nightgown, and lay on the bed, clutching a doll as she slept.
Mrs. Wei looked around the house to see if there was anything that needed tidying, but she had already cleaned during the day. The house was very clean, and since Ava hadn’t returned, it looked the same as when she left it.
Checking the time, Mrs. Wei did not linger any longer and headed to her room to wash up and rest.
The night settled into complete silence.
Meanwhile, at Silvermist Isles,
in the study.
Jace Kingsley sat in a chair, looking at the investigation report in his hand. A smile formed on his face, and he felt increasingly at ease.
Rhodes Group’s situation wasn’t looking good; the company was clearly on a downward trend. Hayden Rhodes’ mindset had become outdated.
It’s no longer twenty-three years ago.
Ideas and concepts from back then won’t work now.
If he doesn’t change his approach, in the long run, Rhodes Group might just disappear.
However, for him, this is good news.
The Rhodes Family wanted to place Aria Rhodes into the company, and since Aria longed for Poe Vaughn, she would undoubtedly try every means to get close to him.
Collaborating with Celestial Holdings would be a shortcut.
However, Poe Vaughn wouldn’t agree to it.
Poe detested the Rhodes Family—particularly Hayden Rhodes’ family. He wouldn’t collaborate with Rhodes Group.
Unless Aria could come up with a way to get Celestial Holdings to agree.
He believed Aria could find a way.
A woman who has admired a man for years, without giving up or backing down, much like himself.
He understood those feelings all too well.
Aria was capable of anything.
He waited, waited for Aria to move closer to Poe Vaughn. If necessary, he could help her.
Or, perhaps, they could collaborate.
They could work together.
The enemy of my enemy is my friend, right?
Jace put down the documents, laughter filling his eyes, spilling over his features.
He sat there, relaxed, leaned against the chair back. His fingertip brushed his lips as myriad thoughts filled his mind.
All these thoughts laced with calculation.
Ava was about to start filming, which was also good news for him.
Poe Vaughn couldn’t be by Ava’s side all the time, but he could.
At that moment, Jace’s lips curled into a smile, flooding his cheeks with laughter.
He wouldn’t give up on Ava, never ever.
...
Poe Vaughn had left, so Ava was free from his disturbance, which made her sleep soundly and comfortably.
She woke up the next morning feeling refreshed, without a hint of tiredness.
After getting ready and coming out, Mrs. Wei had already set breakfast on the table. Seeing Ava come out, she immediately smiled and said, "Ma’am, breakfast is ready."
Ava was indeed hungry, and hearing Mrs. Wei’s words, she walked over immediately: "Great."
She looked at the table filled with small porridge, side dishes, buns, and soy milk, very satisfied.
Leaning closer to the table, she took a deep breath with her eyes closed, then quickly sat into the chair, picked up a small bun, and stuffed it into her mouth.
Seeing her eat so heartily, Mrs. Wei quickly said, "Ma’am, be careful, it’s hot."
"No worries, I’m not afraid of the heat."
Ava mumbled with her mouth full of bun, while picking up food with chopsticks, stuffing her cheeks full, making Mrs. Wei laugh instantly.
Seeing her lady enjoy the breakfast she made was naturally a delight for Mrs. Wei.
"Enjoy, ma’am, I’ll do some tidying up."
Ava hurriedly nodded, her mouth continuously chewing.
But soon, she thought of something and turned around: "Mrs. Wei, eat with me."
Mrs. Wei laughed, "No need, ma’am."
"You eat first, ma’am; I’ll eat after."
Usually, Mrs. Wei wouldn’t eat at the table with the family unless asked.
Ava frowned, "Eat together; it’s more lively, plus it’s best while it’s hot."
"It’s alright, ma’am, I’ll eat after I tidy up."
Saying this, Mrs. Wei entered Ava’s room and started tidying up inside.
Ava felt a little helpless; Mrs. Wei was too discreet, too discreet for her to even know what to say.
Oh well, she could let Mrs. Wei do as she liked.
Ava happily finished her breakfast. She always ate quickly, so within ten minutes, she was done eating, then grabbed her bag, phone, and keys and left.
Before leaving, Ava handed Mrs. Wei the keys to the apartment, telling her the password, so she could come and go freely.
Mrs. Wei nodded, "I understand, ma’am. I have the keys. Mr. Vaughn had Mr. Zhang give them to me yesterday."
Ava suddenly recalled that Mrs. Wei had come to clean the house yesterday on Poe Vaughn’s request, and Mrs. Wei had been let in at that time.
Apparently, Mrs. Wei had the keys.
Who gave them to her? Naturally, it was Poe Vaughn.
"Alright, if anything happens, just call me. I’m heading out now."
It was only eight o’clock. Ava had gotten up early today, with not much to do, plenty of time on her hands.
But even so, she didn’t plan on wasting any time. She wanted to go to the office early, ask Lauren Howell about the teacher’s situation last night, while also organizing the knowledge learned yesterday. If she had extra time, she would attempt some impromptu acting for Lauren Howell to see.
Then there’s the story. Yes, she had asked Lauren Howell to get the entire story from Silas Donovan yesterday, but Lauren hadn’t given it to her yet.
She wants to review the story, to understand the whole context, the main roles, and other characters.
There’s a lot to do; she’s really busy.
"Okay."
Mrs. Wei agreed, and Ava changed her shoes, took the car keys from the drawer, and left.
But seeing Ava take the car keys, Mrs. Wei thought of something and said, "Ma’am, while Mr. Vaughn is away, Mr. Zhang will be driving you; you don’t need to drive."
Ava had two cars: one at Poe Vaughn’s place, and one here with her.
Now that Poe Vaughn was gone, she naturally planned to drive herself to and from work.
Upon hearing this, Ava paused, blinking: "Poe Vaughn said so?"
"Yes, ma’am."
Ava’s expression instantly turned bemused, a smile tugging at her lips.
"Alright, I won’t drive then."
Putting the car keys back in the drawer, Ava cheerfully went out.
Now she had meals prepared, the house cleaned, and someone to drive her around—life couldn’t be better.
If possible, she hoped Poe Vaughn wouldn’t come back. She could continue to live her wonderful life without him, and it was just fantastic.
