CHAPTER 496: CHAPTER 496: DIFFERENT FROM THE REST
The house that Ava Sterling built wasn’t small, it was quite sizable, and from its appearance, it was a type of courtyard house. A small bungalow, with a yard, a wall, and even a pond, looking rather decent.
But...
This house... is a bit... too haphazard, isn’t it...
The house looked like a house, but that was it. You couldn’t expect much else.
It was as if, for some reason, there was an urgency to quickly build a house, which didn’t need to be pretty, neat, or livable, just needed to be a house.
So, the wall looked crooked, the house looked all askew, and the sand was uneven, with bulges here and there.
You could say there was no aesthetic value to speak of.
Ava Sterling’s house was indeed... quite "unique".
Even little Sylvie Ainsworth, who’s built many houses and seen others build houses, hadn’t seen such an "eccentric" house like Ava Sterling’s.
This left little Sylvie Ainsworth dumbfounded, standing there, not knowing how to react.
Ava didn’t notice the little one’s dazed state at all, she kept working without stopping.
She completed her house, and the wall, but she wanted to make a vegetable garden outside and plant some vegetables as a token inside.
So now, she was working on her vegetable garden.
She carved out a place on either side of the main gate outside, dug holes, shaped them like long bread. Then she poked holes inside, and rolled sand into thin strips, to place them in those holes like seedlings.
But the sand was difficult to solidify and shape, causing her to constantly fail.
This was why even as an adult, she wasn’t faster than the little one at building.
Initially, she couldn’t build it at all; she contemplated for a long time and slightly grasped some techniques, resulting in this not-so-aesthetic house she had now.
However, for Ava Sterling, being able to build a house, even if it’s shabby, made her happy.
She didn’t mind the little one and carefully planted her seedlings; though she repeatedly failed, she wasn’t bothered or impatient. She was very patient, continuing until she succeeded.
That’s Ava Sterling’s nature; once she decided to do something, she had to see it through.
However, the seedlings were too delicate, and the sand was inadequate.
Though, it was indeed her own lack of technique.
Ava Sterling tried for a long time without success.
She furrowed her brows, starting to think about how to succeed. Then, a spark of inspiration hit her, and she quickly grabbed sand, filled in the previous holes, and gently pressed it, making it look like a little nest.
After completing this step, she took some sand again, rolled it into a small round core, and placed it in the middle of the little nest; anyone looking would immediately know it was a seed.
Ava Sterling immediately broke into a smile of pride.
Look at her, so clever.
Quickly, she followed what she had done and planted her vegetables in the two garden plots.
At this time, little Sylvie Ainsworth, who had been watching Ava planting, finally reacted.
He had never seen a vegetable garden and didn’t know what it looked like, so after seeing Ava’s series of actions, he came over and squatted beside her. He pointed at the small round cores and asked, "Sister, what is this?"
Upon hearing little Sylvie’s question, Ava immediately said, "Seeds!"
"Seeds about to sprout."
"What, you didn’t know?"
Ava looked at the little one beside her, his face full of curiosity and wonder. She raised her chin proudly and said, "You definitely didn’t know."
"Today, your sister is in a good mood, so I’ll give you a proper lesson."
The clever little one sweetly called Ava ’sister’, and Ava accepted it without blushing or her heart skipping a beat.
Who doesn’t like being young? Ava Sterling also hoped to remain young forever, always being a ’sister’ in the eyes of children.
Hearing her words, little Sylvie Ainsworth’s eyes lit up, looking at her, "I want to hear, sister."
This little one didn’t seem introverted but wasn’t the type to bounce around everywhere either. He gave Ava the impression of being extremely smart, making people fond of him because of his intelligence.
He had no obvious flaws.
Hearing the endearing voice, especially the word ’sister’, pleasing Ava Sterling immensely. She smiled and said, "This seed is the source of everything."
"For instance, the vegetables we eat, those vegetables and meat, all come from seeds."
"Without seeds, there would be no vegetables, no meat, nothing to eat."
"Seeds are extremely important."
These words left little Sylvie Ainsworth bewildered, "But sister, the vegetables are big, and the meat is big too, are they all seeds?"
"Are they like these seeds you’re planting, sister?"
"But, sister, these seeds are small, yet the meat and vegetables we usually eat are big."
"They’re not the same."
Ava laughed, "Of course, they’re not the same. Seeds come in all sizes, and so does meat."
"How should I explain... I don’t have objects to demonstrate right now, but seeds are indeed very important."
"Everything exists because of seeds, including you."
"Ah..."
Little Sylvie was stunned.
Ava’s words left him dazed.
Apparently, he was entering a new realm of knowledge he wasn’t familiar with.
While Ava Sterling kept talking, her hands didn’t stop, and quickly she finished her task. Looking at her two plots of garden, although they weren’t real, the way they were crafted felt real.
It almost felt like she truly had a small home, with two plots outside. The feeling was nice.
Truly nice.
Ava Sterling clapped her hands, shook off the sand, stood up, put her hands on her hips, and looked at her house and garden, increasingly satisfied.
After looking, Ava glanced at the little one still squatting there, watching her with a round, plump face and little black eyes filled with bewilderment.
Evidently, the little one was still lost in that newfound confusion.
Seeing the little one’s demeanor, Ava’s mood improved further and she said, "I’ll..."
"Bzzz..."
The phone vibrated, interrupting her words.
Ava stopped, looking at the bag placed next to the house, the phone was inside.
Was it Poe Vaughn calling?
Ava’s eyelashes fluttered, and she immediately picked up the bag, took out the phone, and looked at the caller ID.
Poe Vaughn.
Those three words clearly flickered on the screen.
Indeed.
Was he done with his work?
Ava looked at the time, it was past eight, he should have been busy for several hours, right?
Thinking this, Ava answered the call, "Hello."
"Where are you?"
The deep, magnetic voice was clear amidst the night and the commotion.
