CHAPTER 781: I WILL PERSONALLY PICK UP 612.
The night sky was adorned by the moon, taking the place of the sun from the daylight, perching at the highest point in the sky.
Tonight’s moon wasn’t full nor a crescent, resembling a dish missing a piece, occasionally obscured by passing clouds, but soon revealing its edges again, casting a soft moonlight that draped the earth in a layer of silver frost.
At this hour, people had not all succumbed to sleep, yet the number of pedestrians on the streets had diminished greatly.
It was the same with the Fransel residence, no longer bustling as in the daytime, but exuding a somewhat tranquil atmosphere. Apart from the guards patrolling about, everyone else had finished dinner and washing up, retreating to their rooms.
Reiger was also in his own room.
By his side was Yuloli, who was different from her daytime demeanor, now brimming with energy.
He himself was seated before the wooden table in the center of the room, surrounded by all sorts of treasures laid out on the table.
Yuloli curiously fiddled with these treasures beside him, at times toying with a magic wand or a scepter, at times caressing gems or necklaces. Her appearance was less of a woman dazzled by exquisite jewelry and decorations, and more of a small animal excited by shiny things.
Reiger let the Vampire Queen rummage through what were essentially his grave goods, finding himself in a difficult choice.
"Which should I choose as a gift?"
Indeed, Reiger was selecting a gift for Yuri.
The treasures on the table were ancient secret treasures he had brought from Yuloli’s tomb, which he had already appraised with magic, making him well-versed in their effects.
But still, picking just one ancient secret treasure as a gift for Yuri was proving to be a challenge for Reiger.
There was no way around it.
"That young lady seems to lack nothing, right?"
It was only now that Reiger realized this predicament.
As the head of the Fransel family, a Marquis in the Kingdom of Ginas, and the court’s chief magician as well as a strategic-level magician, Yuri indeed lacked little in the way of magic tools.
She had been inside the kingdom’s treasury, selecting treasures, so it wasn’t that she didn’t possess any; at the very least, she had one piece of ancient secret treasure on par with Revin’s Sword of Rebellion or the Monis Armor.
"I seem to recall her mentioning it once, she chose a magic wand, right?"
To magicians, the most important weapon is naturally the magic wand, just as a swordsman cannot be without a sword, an excellent magician should not be without a wand.
Therefore, with the rare opportunity to enter the kingdom’s treasury, Yuri naturally leaned toward selecting a powerful magic wand as her main weapon.
Although Yuri never went into detail about the power of that wand, since it was chosen from the kingdom’s treasury, that treasure, even if slightly less potent than Reiger’s Meroei divine magic wand, would definitely not be much inferior.
"In that case, I can rule out wand-type treasures, right?"
Reiger pushed aside various wands, scepters, short wands, long wands, and other magical staves to one side, letting Yuloli play with them at her will.
Then, after careful consideration, Reiger also moved gems, crystals, and the like, which were magical tools, to the side.
"Since it’s a rare gift, it’s better to choose a secret treasure that can enhance strength."
Some of those gems and crystals served as magic tools, and some as pure magic materials, only useful when necessary, unable to effectively increase the wielder’s own strength.
Thus, Reiger ruled them out, too, intending to pick a secret treasure that could boost Yuri’s strength for her to carry with her.
"That leaves these, right?"
Looking at the remaining necklaces, rings, amulets, belts, bracelets, and similar equipment, Reiger ultimately set aside belts, bracelets, amulets, and other such treasures as well.
The reason for this was simple; as one of Yuri’s few close friends, having known her for so long, Reiger was naturally aware of the young lady’s preferences.
Yuri had never worn such equipment as belts, bracelets, or amulets, having clearly expressed her discomfort with them.
Therefore, Reiger excluded these as well, leaving only necklaces, rings, bracelets, and other adornments that were more favored by girls.
Reiger then resumed sorting through the items, eliminating those of little use to magicians.
"Let’s rule out necklaces too."
Suddenly recalling that Yuri seemed to wear a necklace as well, which appeared to also be a rare magical tool, he took the necklaces out and handed them over to the curious Yuloli, who took them from him.
"It seems I can only give a ring or bracelet."
It was then that Reiger felt his choices weren’t that difficult anymore.
The remaining rings or bracelets must be more suitable as a gift for Yuri.
But even with only rings or bracelets left, Reiger still had plenty of options.
"Which one should I choose?"
Reiger, who had never seriously picked out a present for a girl before, stared at the remaining dozen or so rings and several bracelets, rarely succumbing to indecision.
Suddenly, a pleasing voice emanated from Reiger’s body.
"?"
Yuloli was captivated by the sound, involuntarily turning her ruby-like eyes and setting aside the blood-red gem she was holding to look at Reiger.
