Isekai Adventure in the Dimensional Cube
Chapter 782: I will personally pick up 612.
CHAPTER 782: I WILL PERSONALLY PICK UP 612.
"What is this...?"
Reiger had snapped out of his indecision and, after initially appearing startled, seemed to remember something and pulled an item from his person.
It was a Magic Crystal.
Suddenly, it was Reiger’s rarely used Communication Magic Crystal.
At that moment, the Communication Magic Crystal was emitting a faint glow and producing a pleasant sound.
Undoubtedly, someone was contacting Reiger through the Communication Magic Crystal, causing the earlier symptoms.
"Who?"
Reiger felt puzzled but proceeded to channel Magic Power into the crystal in the manner required to activate the communication, and thus received the call.
The next second, a voice that took Reiger completely by surprise emerged from within the Communication Magic Crystal.
"Good evening, Lord Reiger."
It was an incredibly crisp, pleasant voice, as melodious as a lark’s song, and it belonged to a woman.
Reiger naturally recognized the owner of the voice.
"Saint Charlia?"
Reiger sounded somewhat surprised.
Yes.
The owner of the voice contacting Reiger through the Magic Crystal was none other than the leader of the Duke’s faction, the gifted young lady from the Codelion Family who had already become a Tactical Level Magician despite her youth—the Duke’s eldest daughter, Saint Charlia Codrillon.
"Long time no see."
Reiger masked his surprise and greeted her accordingly.
However, that seemed to puzzle her somewhat.
"Has it been that long?" Saint Charlia chuckled softly and said, "Doesn’t seem that long, does it?"
Indeed, from Saint Charlia’s perspective, her last meeting with Reiger at the mead tavern had been just a couple of months ago.
Of course, from Reiger’s standpoint, it had indeed been quite a while since he last heard Saint Charlia’s voice.
Since that meeting, Reiger had traveled to the Overlord’s world, where he spent five months, then ventured to the Fairy Country in the Brittania Anomaly World for three months, along with the time spent on the continent of Akasha, he hadn’t heard Saint Charlia’s voice for almost a year.
That was why he had said it had been a long time.
Nonetheless, this was something Reiger naturally would not explain.
"For Miss Saint Charlia, it might not have been long, but I have been to many places and experienced many things recently, so it feels quite a while to me," Reiger responded calmly, prompting Saint Charlia to voice her amusement.
"That’s true, Lord Reiger. You not only visited Meppelrose but also went to the Neutral Zone, so you have indeed experienced quite a bit," she said.
This statement gave Reiger’s voice a deeper resonance.
"Miss Saint Charlia sure is interested in my whereabouts."
No wonder Reiger said this.
Visiting Meppelrose aside—after all, Reiger had gone there by ship and carriage in a formal manner, and with the resources of the Codelion Family, they naturally would not fail to track his movements, especially since he had caused quite a stir there.
But the trip to the Neutral Zone was a secret from anyone but Yuri. Originally, he had used a "Portal" to return directly to Meppelrose and crossed the border through magic without anyone’s knowledge, reaching the Neutral Zone and proceeding to Sin Yele.
That had happened recently, and the whole journey had taken just a few days; the commotion he raised in the Sin Yele City Lord’s mansion might not even have spread back to the Kingdom of Ginas yet.
Yet, Saint Charlia already knew, which indicated just how closely the Codelion Family had been watching him.
"Currently, I fear there is no one among the kingdom’s elite who isn’t concerned about Lord Reiger’s movements," Saint Charlia said matter-of-factly. "Even if I don’t pay special attention, my family will do it on their own, and whenever I inquire, they will tell me everything in great detail."
In truth, it was Saint Nidor, the son of the Duke seen as the leading candidate for the next King, who had been keeping a close eye on Reiger’s movements.
Especially since Reiger had defeated Revin and was rumored to control an incredible space-related magic, Saint Nidor’s attention on Reiger had escalated to the highest level.
Saint Charlia had not really given any directives on that front nor had she taken a particular interest, but even if she did nothing, her overly capable brother would still tirelessly inform her of all these matters.
This contact was, in fact, suggested by Saint Nidor, or else Saint Charlia would not have reached out to Reiger.
It wasn’t that she didn’t want to.
In fact, Saint Charlia was eager to improve her relationship with Reigera, to establish a connection and stimulate her (self-proclaimed) rival.
Regrettably, Reigera left the royal capital quickly and headed out. Since she was away, Saint Charlia couldn’t just contact her casually to bond, and so the matter came to a standstill.
Not until Saint Nidor confirmed that Reigera had returned to the royal capital did Saint Charlia contact her.
However, this time it wasn’t solely for the purpose of establishing a rapport.
"Speak," Reigera asked directly, "What do you need from me?"
It’s rare for someone to visit without a reason, and Reigera didn’t think Saint Charlia would seek her out just for small talk at this time.
But this matter was not unrelated to Reigera.
"Princess Liz has entered the palace, hasn’t she?" Saint Charlia began, "She hasn’t returned, right?"
Upon hearing this, Reigera’s eyes flashed sharply.
"...Something wrong?"
Reigera spoke in an icy tone that few had ever heard from her.
"...Pretty much."
Saint Charlia seemed shaken by Reigera’s tone but still managed to steady herself and respond.
"I’ve just received some intelligence that something happened at the royal palace today."
Saint Charlia straightened her tone and started to convey.
"Princess Liz was summoned by His Majesty the King into the palace and completed her audience in the King’s presence."
"After meeting with Princess Liz, His Majesty reportedly dismissed everyone around him, as if preparing to do something."
"After that, Princess Liz was placed under soft imprisonment by His Majesty himself and is not permitted to leave the palace."
This was clearly fresh intelligence, filled with uncertain elements, with just a brief restatement of the facts.
But it was enough.
"Soft imprisonment..."
Reigera fell silent for a moment before speaking out.
"I had no idea about this. I can’t believe he would dare to do such a thing."
Originally, Reigera thought that Hemulinp would not harm Liz or dare to do anything to her.
It seemed she had been naive.
"That... calm down for a moment."
Saint Charlia, sensing something dangerous in Reigera’s tone, smiled awkwardly and spoke.
"It’s just soft imprisonment, isn’t it? Nothing else excessive has been done, right? It must be that His Majesty has some concerns about you, which is why he did this, right?"
The use of three hesitant phrases showed quite clearly that Saint Charlia had not expected such a reaction from Reigera.
"Don’t worry, I am very calm," Reigera said, her own tone indeed calm as she addressed Saint Charlia, "What’s the reason then? Why has he put Liz under soft imprisonment?"
"Our people are still investigating," Saint Charlia cautiously chose her words, tentatively saying, "my brother suggested that we should inform you first, so you can also be prepared."
"Alright," Reigera said straightforwardly, "thank your brother for me, I will remember this gesture of notifying me."
"I’ll tell him."
Saint Charlia let out a sigh of relief, knowing that the purpose of this contact had been achieved.
Saint Nidor signaling Saint Charlia to inform Reigera was all about showing good faith, wasn’t it?
"We will have someone speed up the investigation and find out as soon as possible the reasons behind His Majesty’s sudden action."
Saint Charlia told Reigera this as well.
However...
"There’s no need."
Reigera stated indifferently.
"My person, I will personally fetch her."
