CHAPTER 274: WRATH OF A MAD KING ( 274 )

"WHY THE FUCK HAVEN’T YOU FOUND THAT BLACK-HAIRED HUMAN YET?!"

King Aswand’s roar shook the throne chamber.

With a violent sweep, he knocked the roasted boar and gold-trimmed dishes off the royal table. Plates shattered. Wine splashed across the marble floor like blood.

The nearby servants flinched—but the advisors didn’t even blink.

They were used to it.

Same rage.

Same tantrum.

Same king.

"HOW FUCKING HARD IS IT TO FIND ONE BLACK-HAIRED HUMAN!?"

He stood, fists clenched, veins bulging at his temple.

"He’s the only one! The ONLY goddamn human with black hair in this world!!"

Silence.

Tension gripped the room, thick and cold.

The royal commander knelt lower.

"We’ve deployed scouts across the human territories, Your Majesty. If he passed through any major city, we would’ve—"

"SHUT UP!!" Aswand threw a goblet at the wall. It shattered into a thousand pieces.

"You worthless, spineless shitstains! All of you! I gave you one job! One simple job!"

He turned, eyes bloodshot with obsession.

"FIND HIM. KILL HIM."

His voice dropped to a growl, lips curled like a beast.

"Once he’s out of the picture..."

He exhaled slowly.

"...Ellyna will be mine."

A disturbing smile crept across his face.

"She’s too valuable. Her Absolute Eye... that ability... her skill... her bloodline."

His eyes narrowed.

"I want it. I want her."

"But Your Highness—"

"WHAT NOW!!" King Aswand snapped, his voice echoing like a crack of thunder across the stone walls.

The advisor didn’t even look up. He bowed lower, sweat forming at his temple.

"I-it’s just... if the target is already inside another kingdom’s territory... we can’t just barge in and kill him. That would trigger war."

Aswand’s face twisted into something monstrous.

He growled.

"I KNOW THAT, YOU PIECE OF TRASH."

He stepped down from the dais, slow and heavy, walking straight toward the man.

"That’s why we hired those fucking trackers. That’s why I sent the best assassin unit this fucking continent has ever seen. Did you forget that, you donkey-assed waste of air?!"

He slammed his hand on the long war table—papers and maps flying off the surface.

"All they need to do is find him. Confirm it. And eliminate him. Quiet. Clean. No flags. No names. No ties to our kingdom. That’s why we pay them in fucking gold coins."

The advisor stayed frozen, lips shut.

King Aswand turned away, seething.

"That black-haired bastard ruined my plans. Ellyna was supposed to be mine. Her bloodline would’ve merged with ours. Her Absolute Eye would belong to my heir."

His hands clenched into fists again.

"But no... he had to show up. He had to get the pinky promise."

He slammed his fist into the stone pillar.

"All of you are pieces of trash!" King Aswand roared, spittle flying.

His eyes darted from advisor to commander to minister like a beast cornered in his own palace.

Then he pointed with venom.

"And you!" he jabbed his finger toward one of the seated nobles.

"You said you sent the best other units! The best!! Now where the hell are they!?"

The man stiffened, bowing instantly.

"Y-Your Majesty... I already deployed the elite hunters and two covert units. They’re tracking the target across multiple regions. I’ve spent—"

"—I’VE SPENT MORE!!" Aswand snarled.

"I paid you tons of gold coin to move them! So move them! I want that human’s head buried under my throne!"

Silence swallowed the court.

Then one brave advisor stepped forward, bowing low.

"Your Majesty... don’t worry. Soon, we will receive good news. The reports from the border regions suggest he might have entered one of the trade-linked towns. Our people are watching."

"Tch." Aswand sneered.

He turned sharply and pointed again.

"You! Call the summoned heroes! I want every one of them in front of me!"

Another advisor swallowed hard.

"But, Your Highness... they’re not in the capital. They’ve each been dispatched on separate royal missions to secure control over—"

"THEN FIND A DAMN WAY TO CONNECT TO THEM!!" Aswand thundered.

"Use the damn Adventurer Guild magic network or something! I don’t care if you need to burn the whole mana bank doing it! GET THEM HERE!"

Everyone in the room tensed.

"What are you all waiting for!? GO NOW!!"

King Aswand’s roar thundered across the court like a crashing storm.

The gathered ministers, commanders, and advisors scattered instantly—robes fluttering, boots thudding on polished stone.

"Yes, Your Majesty!"

The throne room emptied in seconds, leaving only silence... and the furious king standing alone, fists clenched, teeth grinding, eyes glowing with obsession.

He muttered low under his breath, voice like a curse.

"Ellyna will be mine. Even if I have to burn this world to get her."

While the rest of the advisors hurried to obey the king’s orders—sending messages, activating guild channels, and preparing long-range communication spells—one man remained still.

The General of the Human Kingdom.

He stood at the edge of the hall, silent. Arms crossed. Eyes cold and thoughtful.

He didn’t speak. He didn’t move.

Just watched.

Inside his mind, a different storm was brewing.

"The princess... Ellyna."

"So the Absolute Eye is confirmed."

His gaze drifted toward the great stained glass window at the far end of the hall, shaped like a blade rising above the kingdom.

"But the king... he’s wrong."

"It’s not just her eyes that make her special."

"It’s something else. Something she’s hiding. Something even the beastkin royal line is keeping quiet about."

He narrowed his eyes slightly, the noise of the court fading around him.

"I don’t care about the king’s obsession. I want to know what really makes her worth risking war."

His grip tightened slightly on the hilt at his side.

"And I want to know why that black-haired human is the one she chose."

"And once I know..."

A faint smirk tugged at the corner of his lips—calm, confident, dangerous.

"Heh... well..."

"Let’s just say—"

He turned, walking slowly out of the hall, hands behind his back like a man already planning the next move.

"—the king won’t get what he wants."

His boots echoed softly against the polished stone as he stepped into the corridor beyond.

"If she’s truly that valuable..."

His eyes narrowed.

"...then I doubt King Aswand is the only one who wants her."
