Kaidan Game Train: Abide Rule or Die!
Chapter 1360: 1361: Robbing a Person is Called Burglary
Chapter 1360: Chapter 1361: Robbing a Person is Called Burglary
Whether they were players responsible for protecting Dr. Duor or those planning to kill him, everyone’s expressions changed at this moment. The Big Man closest to him rushed forward, grabbing Dr. Duor by the collar, and shouted with a grim face, “Don’t you dare die…”
Before the words were finished, Dr. Duor’s eyeballs, which were already rolling back, completely turned over, slumping lifelessly in the Big Man’s hands. Without checking for a pulse, anyone could see he was dead.
“Damn it!” Everyone cursed in unison again. The few players who had originally escorted Dr. Duor to the Secondary City were at a disadvantage; upon seeing him dead, they charged in a fit of rage, scattering the players surrounding them for a moment.
With Dr. Duor dead, the players who came after them had no intention of continuing the fight, though the Big Man also seemed thoroughly annoyed.
“What’s the point of pretending now? Great, they scared him to death!” one player spat from afar.
“Why didn’t they try to save him?” Xu Huo asked a player watching the commotion from a distance.
The other player, initially on guard upon hearing Xu Huo’s voice, responded, “Didn’t you know? Twin Cities sent out several fake doppelgangers, and they’re quite delicate. Three have already died from fright like this; any sudden heart stoppage, and there’s no saving them.”
“Are you here for this instance too?” He sized up Xu Huo. “You’ve arrived too late. Dongfeng Laboratory is already sealed off; people are fighting inside and outside, and it’s impossible to tell who’s who.”
“I’m passing through, just came to take a look.” Xu Huo handed him a bottle of water. “Dongfeng Laboratory should be the instance destination, why is there a fight?”
“Seems like there’s infighting among the people from Zone 023, involving human experiments. Some are here to protect Dr. Duor, while another group wants to not only kill people but also destroy the laboratory.” The man took the water, held it in his hand for a few seconds before opening it to drink, then continued, “This godforsaken place is no place for people. I’ve run through several cities; either water is so scarce you have to drink unclean natural water, or it’s ridiculously expensive. Yet, against all odds, many people still live here, and there are even fights over experiments. I really don’t know what they’re thinking.”
“I’m curious too.” Xu Huo offered some jerky, raising his hand to see if the man wanted any.
The man didn’t hesitate, grabbed a couple of pieces, and stuffed them into his mouth. “As the saying goes, trees move to die, people move to live. If you’re gonna die anyway, why not take a chance? If worse comes to worst, just find another place.”
“Perhaps there are no better places in the High Temperature Zone.” Xu Huo said, “Everyone wants good things; everyone wants to go to good places, but other cities might not welcome them.”
“True, people need to eat, and Zone 023 has barren land and scarce resources, not much to eat.” The player sighed, “Yesterday, I passed through a small city where people were actually selling children or giving them away for free, just to let them survive. It was quite a scene… Tsk tsk.”
“I say, they should just storm the New District Government. What’s the point of hoarding resources among themselves? If you’re gonna loot, hit the rich targets.”
Xu Huo smiled and clinked his water bottle with the man’s.
“Great minds think alike,” the man said as he squatted down beside Xu Huo. “I’ve asked around some players; the people over at the New District Government are filthy rich. Why don’t we go hit them too? It’ll be a noble act of robbing the rich to help the poor.”
“What’s the point of robbing ordinary folks,” Xu Huo took a swig of water, the blue glow from the protective barrier nearby casting a faint shadow on his face, “if we rob, we should go for the District Government…”
He paused here, glancing sideways at the man beside him, “Do you dare?”
The man seemed startled by his words, then a sparkle appeared in his eyes, and he slapped his thigh, “Brother, from the first glance I knew you were one of us. Robbing with just two people is mere pillaging, but robbing the District Government is an act of justice. A man lives for big deeds!”
The two hit it off instantly, and he immediately called over two players, “These are two friends I met on the road. There’s nothing they won’t dare to do. They’re part of our plan!”
“What plan?” The two slightly awkward players, having overheard the previous compliments, asked.
“Rob the District Government.” The man patted their shoulders, “Of course, I’ll call you guys for such a great opportunity!”
The two players fell silent for a moment, unsure how to respond, until the older one said, “Do you know how many players the District Government has and how many defenses they have in place?”
It’s almost like a three-year-old kid saying he wants to rob a bank with a firecracker—not only absurd but also ridiculous.
“Don’t know now, but we will once we get there, right?” The man ran a hand through his disheveled hair with a grin, “After all, we’re not doing anything else.”
The two players were left speechless and then looked at Xu Huo, realizing he wasn’t joking either, so they made up their minds and agreed to go along.
“There we go, brothers share the meat together!” The scarred hand wasted no time giving everyone a codename: Robin Hood 1, 2, 3, and 4, with Xu Huo, as the last to join, called number 4.
“Isn’t this too hasty,” the older player said diplomatically, “better to use our real names.”
“Can’t be bothered to remember,” 1 waved his hand. “Plus, with so many people, who remembers everyone’s name? Calling by numbers is easier.”
“Wait a minute,” 3 interrupted, “Aren’t we four people?”
“What’s with the players, four people robbing the District Government?” 1 had a look of “Are you the one not awake, or am I?” Then with a sly tone, “For a heist, the more the merrier. We should even rally people from Zone 023; I bet they’ve been eyeing the District Government for a while now.”
Xu Huo finished his jerky at that moment, clapped his hands, and stood up, “It’s settled then. I’ll go recruit people now, let’s meet back here before twelve.”
“Deal!” 1 readily agreed, then ordered 2 and 3 to scatter and find allies.
2 and 3, although unsure about it, went along anyway.
The group headed off the building one after another.
Xu Huo arrived near Dongfeng Laboratory, where parts of the outer blue barrier were already broken, forming several entry points. Players passed through both inside and outside, equipped with protective props. Most couldn’t see each other’s faces, making it hard to distinguish Ya Clan people, although one player suddenly running out of the laboratory had a spinning number “17” above their head.
In fact, not just this player, but two subsequent players entering the barrier from outside also sported numbers “19” and “20” above their heads, while another player they drove inside the barrier had none.
