CHAPTER 26: CH 26: TEMPEST ISLAND [2]

"Where is Reinhard? Weren’t we supposed to do a teamfight?" I asked to nobody in particular as I looked around me.

Leave Reinhard, there wasn’t a speck of life here. Far off in the distance there was a dense forest that stood ominously in this silent, desolate land.

Behind me water washed into the lands as the sea roared. Strong winds gripped the island as dust storms whistled past me.

And nowhere was Reinhard to be seen.

I could only come to the most probable outcome.

’He was probably teleported somewhere else.’

I needed to start somewhere and as such, I took my first step on the island. I walked along the shoreline so as to not get lost in this unknown land.

I wasn’t much scared of dying here. I mean afterall what more could happen?

At most I shall die and get revived by Cormac again. Simple as that...

As I walked, the thunderclaps shook the lands and more and more water filtered onto the shores.

But instead of getting cautious, I felt thrilled. A strange euphoria spread through my body as my heart beat excitedly at the chaotic climate surrounding me.

"Ah, the weather here is truly cinematic." I raised my hands to the heavens above as if to touch it. A small smile adorned my face.

It was quite silly...but seeing this weather made me remember my own childhood days when I would be running and getting wet under the rainfall.

Keeping away my moment of nostalgia, I resumed walking.

When suddenly my right foot got stuck in a muddy puddle with a quashing sound.

"Hmm? Where did this puddle come from? I was sure this section of the ground was solid."

My forehead wrinkled as I found myself unable to get my foot out.

Now what did I get stuck in?

Suddenly, the puddle enlarged and in the span of few seconds, a big jaw appeared where the puddle was supposed to be.

Oh shit...!!

Quickly forming a staff out of ice, I inserted it across the wide gaping mouth of the creature.

Its mouth remained open and I quickly took away my foot. Moving back, I formed two more staffs in case it broke the one that was holding the jaw open.

But that was unnecessary as the creature melted back into the ground beneath, leaving behind the ice staff and a perfect cut on the ground.

’So they camouflage in the ground huh? This...is gonna be problematic.’

As I was thinking all these, I noticed the ground around me start to melt.

No! No!! It wasn’t melting....the entire ground was full of these damned predators.

Before they could properly resurface, I jumped from one creature to the other and on my way, kept on throwing ice spears with pointed heads straight into them.

With my new enhanced E capacity, my mana control had increased tremendously and now I used less mana to do the same tasks I did before. As well as create pointed and sharp weapons straight out of ice.

And they certainly were coming in handy as one after the other, the spears embedded into the ground as a popping sound echoed everytime the creature melted on the ground. Dead.

Unlike the first one which escaped into the ground.

After bursting many more of these creatures, I looked behind me.

An army of these creatures was forming before me. But their appearance was quite...contrasting to their predatory nature.

They looked exactly like sponge balls. A sponge that had been dipped into mud.

A screeching sound rang out across the empty fields as one of them turned into a grotesque monster with long, razor like sharp teeth. Baring them at me, it gave chase.

As if on queue, other screeching sounds rang out as well as one after the other started transforming into these hideous creatures.

I didn’t loiter around as well as I too ran towards the forest. I could tell the forest was dangerous but staying on open grounds which was literally the domain of these mud sponges was a more foolish idea.

By the time I reached the forest, I was exhausted. The distance from the shore was just that far.Even for a First Order like me.

Behind me the mud sponges weren’t even running, they were simply gliding on the ground in their puddle state.

Wait...can I also glide on the ground by layering it with ice...?

Not just on the ground...If I could manage to attach my feet to the layer of ice then I could even glide on the skies and even freeze the water to travel across seas and oceans.

My eyes widened at the surreal possibility.

But for now, that could wait. Let me get rid of these before that.

With rapid motions, I climbed up a tree. And jumped on the branch of the other one.

Under me, the sponges surrounded the tree and tried jumping and climbing to the top of the tree where I stood.

Unfortunately for them, they couldn’t.

But I didn’t stop as I jumped from one branch to the other. Sometimes I had to hold onto the thick vines and swing towards a faraway tree.

One might ask me why was I running like this instead of just sitting on the top of a tall tree and be safe.

It was because I wasn’t going to sit and see these sponges try out their new plans.

What if they formed a long rope by melting and attaching themselves together? No, that was too dangerous.

Safety was just an illusion in this desolate land.

On the other hand, I was searching for Reinhard. The only one who could deal with these sponges.

Afterall his element was Earth.

I was sure these things were planted here so that Reinhard could deal with them.

I remembered what Principal Cormac had said befure he sent us here.

Teamwork is the key here. And that would mean there were creatures out on this Island that were created keeping me in mind.

And if my condition was anything to go by, Reinhard must be in trouble himself. Fending off enemies best suited for me.

And from my sightseeing I could tell that the island actually ended right after the forest.

Meaning...Reinhard was teleported directly in this dense forest.

And as I jumped onto another tree, I finally saw him.
