CHAPTER 351: KAZEKAGE NINJA-CHAPTER 140: CAT AND DOG FIGHT (2)
Sasori’s voice trembled slightly as he frantically dumped out the pill and swallowed it, his eyes locked onto a transparent small box on the control panel. Inside the clear container sat a red button marked with a prominent white skull.
"Do I really have to use this now?"
Sasori slowly opened the transparent box, his index finger hovering over the button. His gaze remained glued to the display screen, not daring to blink.
Suddenly, Matatabi stopped gathering chakra. Her massive jaws slowly closed, and the accumulated energy gradually dissipated into nothing.
"Phew!"
Sasori exhaled deeply, slowly pulling his finger back and replacing the protective cover. He wiped sweat from his brow.
"No wonder Lord Third Raikage calls her a crazy girl. In this confined space, two Tailed Beast Bombs would bring the whole mountain down! Thank god she hit the brakes, or I might’ve been buried alive today."
"What are you doing?!"
"What the hell were you thinking?!"
Faced with Matatabi’s sudden chakra withdrawal, Yugito felt annoyed. The usually gentle and polite Matatabi immediately snapped back with stern questioning.
Only then did Yugito suddenly realize what she’d almost done.
"Are you insane? What grudge could you possibly have? Were you trying to kill him?!"
Matatabi continued her interrogation.
"I... I... I just got carried away in the fight..."
Yugito fumbled for words.
"Hmph! That stubborn old Third Raikage was right—you really are a crazy girl!"
"I was wrong."
"Think long and hard about what you just did. I’m exhausted and done with you."
Matatabi elegantly turned away and vanished into the darkness.
The flames around Matatabi slowly faded, her form gradually shrinking until she returned to Yugito’s human appearance.
"Alright, that’s enough. Come out—let’s talk."
Yugito casually swept her hair back, her expression completely composed.
"Howling Heaven’s" back hatch suddenly opened, and Sasori leaped out, landing directly in front of Yugito.
Huh! This guy’s got serious stamina. After fighting for so long, he still moves like that.
Yugito thought, a slight blush creeping across her cheeks.
Sasori was about to speak when Yugito cut him off.
"You’re really something, you know that? Do you have any concept of time? You said one hour—look what time it is now! The moon’s already out! I haven’t even had lunch! I’m starving to death! You know if I hadn’t suddenly pulled back just now, you’d be dead? You know that?..."
"Tch!"
The dismissive sound didn’t come from Sasori, but from Matatabi inside Yugito.
Her shrill voice made Sasori’s eardrums ache, and her machine-gun pace left no room for him to respond.
Sasori was nearly speechless. Who the hell was the one getting more worked up, escalating from partial transformation to full beast mode, and almost firing a Tailed Beast Bomb? This blame-shifting skill was absolutely masterful. In that battle, if I’d relaxed even slightly, you would’ve killed me!
Sasori wanted to snap back, but suddenly remembered Jinghang’s teachings.
Jinghang’s Rule #1: When a girl argues with you, the louder her voice and faster her speech, the more it proves she’s unsure inside. Don’t argue—you’ll never out-talk 500 ducks. Just listen quietly until she’s finished.
Sasori did his best to tune out Yugito’s chatter while maintaining a polite smile.
"...So, admit you were wrong!"
Finally her verbal barrage ended, and Yugito glared at Sasori defiantly.
Sasori looked at Yugito gently and said softly,
"You’re right. I got carried away in the fight and lost track of time. Thank you for holding back, miss."
Jinghang’s Rule #2: Don’t try to reason with women, especially unreasonable ones. With women, you coax.
"There you go—she’s built you a perfect bridge. Just walk down the slope."
Matatabi said lazily.
"Hmph! Good that you know. Pay attention next time!"
Yugito still looked defiant, but her expression had softened considerably.
"I have to say, Miss Yugito—you’re absolutely breathtaking when you’re angry."
Sasori smiled warmly.
Jinghang’s Rule #3: Cheesy pickup lines are the ultimate weapon for winning over strong-willed girls—often the key to turning the tide.
Yugito’s face instantly flushed crimson.
"Smooth talker..."
Yugito shyly turned away, her heart racing.
Sasori wasn’t sure what to say next, and they fell into comfortable silence.
"Grumble... grumble..."
Their stomachs were the first to break the quiet.
After nearly a full day of intense combat with barely any food, how could they not be starving?
"Oh my, this is entirely my fault. We’ve been sparring all day and I’ve kept you from eating. I have some canned food—why don’t we eat and chat?"
Sasori said politely.
"Mm."
Yugito responded shyly.
A campfire crackled as seven or eight empty cans of douchi lingyu fish lay scattered around the clearing.
"I have to say, the canned fish your village produces is absolutely delicious."
Yugito wiped her mouth with satisfaction.
"Want more? I’ve got plenty."
Sasori gestured to his pack.
"No, no, I’m stuffed."
Yugito picked up her water bottle and took a long drink.
"So, about helping us in the war—have you given it any thought?"
Sasori finally steered the conversation back on track.
Yugito fell silent for a moment, then shook her head.
"Sorry, but I have no interest in participating in this unjust war where village leaders fight over profits and territory."
Sasori
frowned.
"Unjust war?"
"Isn’t it? Whether it’s Konoha, your Sand Village, or even our Cloud Village—aren’t you all just fighting each other for more benefits? I despise this kind of warfare."
"This isn’t an unjust war—it’s a righteous battle to drive out true evil, where light conquers darkness!"
"Oh, really?"
Yugito wore an expression that clearly said, "Say whatever you want—I’m not buying it."
Sasori pondered for a moment.
"How about this—come with me somewhere. After you see what I want to show you, you’ll understand the true nature of this war."
"Ah!"
Is he... asking me on a date?Yugito’s heart skipped.
"Don’t worry. After you see it, if you still don’t want to help in the war, I absolutely won’t force you. And I’ll convince Lord Third Raikage to let you return to your village safely."
Sasori assured her.
"Then where are we going?"
"You’ll know when we get there. You’re just sitting around here anyway, aren’t you?"
"Then... let’s go."
Yugito stood up.
Sasori pulled out a scroll and unrolled it, revealing a large character for "vehicle" written across it.
"Bang!"
A sleek convertible sports car materialized before Yugito.
"This is a chakra-powered vehicle I developed. It can travel a thousand miles in a single day. Come on, miss—hop in."
