Landing on Her Heart: Mr. Warner, Let's Get Back Together!
Chapter 101: Dad, My Mom Is Annelise Winter
CHAPTER 101: CHAPTER 101: DAD, MY MOM IS ANNELISE WINTER
"What are you staring at? Hurry up and help my son, you useless thing!" The old lady glared at Annelise, crossing her arms to show her authority as a mother-in-law.
Annelise was preoccupied with how to get Elias away from Luna, not wanting to argue with Wayne’s mother, so she stepped forward to assist Wayne.
The two of them walked towards the door.
Wayne was overjoyed, feeling a tingling electric current rush through his body whenever Annelise touched him.
The feeling was exceedingly pleasant.
The two headed towards the elevator leading to the underground garage.
In room 309 next door.
Luna lay on a new hospital bed, having been in high spirits ever since she got off the plane.
Her small hand clutched Elias Warner’s coat hem, reluctant to let go.
"Luna, you’ve already returned home. Soon you’ll see your mom. Aren’t you happy?"
Elias picked her up from the bed, pinching her fair little cheek.
"Happy, but I don’t know if mom knows I’m back!" Luna was agitated because she knew this time, it was Uncle Chase who had Dr. Flora bring her here.
"Uncle Flora, can you contact mom for me? I miss her. I want to see her soon. I want mom and dad to always be with me!"
As she spoke, when she mentioned "dad," she intentionally looked at Elias to observe his facial expression.
Elias gently patted her head with a hint of tenderness.
"Mom will be here soon. Trust daddy, and stay here listening to Dr. Flora, okay?"
Elias kissed Luna’s soft cheek.
"Okay, daddy. You’re going to find mom, right?" Luna’s innocent voice softened Elias’s heart, "You love mom just like I do, right?"
"Yes, be a good girl!"
Elias soothed Luna until she fell asleep.
He called Dr. Flora outside the ward.
"Flora, I asked Luna about her mother’s identity. Luna said her mom is a doctor. I wanted to ask if you know Luna’s mom? What does she do in this country?"
Elias was puzzled, not expecting that even in Kybourne, there were people he couldn’t find.
"This involves personal privacy. I’m not sure what Luna’s mom does!"
Flora smiled awkwardly, though he didn’t understand why Annelise didn’t want him to disclose her identity to Elias.
But he still complied with Annelise’s request.
"Alright, I understand. Please take care of Luna. I have some personal matters to attend to!"
"Rest assured!"
Luna secretly hid behind the door, watching her dad leave, wondering helplessly what he meant by not knowing who her mom was?
How was that possible?
Mom must be so sad!
She desperately wanted to rush out and tell her dad, "Dad, mom’s name is Annelise!"
But she could only watch him leave.
Elias took the elevator to the underground garage.
By coincidence, he narrowly missed Annelise.
As he reached his car in the underground garage, the car Annelise was in just drove out.
Sitting inside the black Cullinan, he was about to start the car when he received a call from Uncle Ford.
"Master, I’ve heard that Miss Winter is planning to get a marriage certificate with Wayne today!"
"What?"
Elias was shocked. Wasn’t it him who personally sent Wayne to prison?
How did he get out?
And he was going to get a marriage certificate with Annelise?
No doubt, it could only be his mother, Renee, who had the power to snatch people from him.
Elias took a cigar from his pocket and opened the car window.
The lighter’s flame slowly approached the cigar, igniting it quickly. Smoke swirled around.
He took a deep draw, the hot vapor carrying a chilling aura.
"Find Wayne’s location, make sure he’s thoroughly ruined. I guess the last lesson wasn’t enough!"
"Yes, Master!"
Annelise and Wayne were seated inside a Rolls-Royce sent by Renee.
Annelise was absent-minded, her mind constantly on how to see Luna.
Wayne, on the other hand, was excited, occasionally whistling.
The driver, a long-time employee of the Warner family, always stayed by Renee’s side.
They were ten minutes away from the marriage bureau, and his task would be complete.
"Screech"
An unexpected sudden brake nearly threw Wayne out of the car window.
Annelise was also startled by the sudden situation.
"How are you driving?"
Wayne wasn’t intimidated by the fact that the driver was one of Renee’s men, especially since the abrupt stop almost scared him out of his wits.
The driver didn’t respond, frowning and staring at the car that had stopped him.
It was a rundown van.
Faced with this van, the driver frowned as he stepped out of the car.
With a cold voice, he scolded, "Are you blind? How dare you block my car!"
From the van emerged a group of thuggish-looking people who pulled Wayne out of the car and stuffed him into the van.
The driver was flustered.
How could there be a kidnapping in broad daylight?
"What... what are you doing? In broad daylight... what do you want?"
The driver, seeing the situation, immediately called Renee.
Before the call connected, Wayne was thrown back out of the vehicle by the group.
Quickly, he helped Wayne back into the car and seated him properly.
Wayne cursed, "Sick folks, delaying my wedding!"
The driver asked a few simple questions and continued driving.
Annelise didn’t take it to heart.
Still absent-minded.
The driver sped up; he didn’t want any more trouble.
Soon, they reached the entrance of the marriage bureau.
Renee had already spoken with the people there.
Wayne and Annelise took the VIP channel.
No need to queue.
The two approached the government personnel handling the certificates.
They handed over the prepared documents to the woman in front of them.
The woman, with a cold face, said, "There’s a power outage today. We can’t process the certificate!"
"What? Power outage? When will it come back on? What’s going on?" Wayne was extremely upset.
The path to the wedding was a series of frequent occurrences.
"How should I know when it’ll be back? It was fine just now. You came and the power went out!" The staff complained.
"What do you mean by that? Are you indirectly calling me a jinx?" Wayne was emotionally charged.
"I never said that. You said it yourself. There’s a power outage. Come back another day!"
"I must handle this today. Where’s your supervisor? Get the supervisor out here!"
Wayne slammed the table, standing on the chair and shouting, only to suddenly fall off the chair, rolling his eyes, motionless.
"Hey, you’re not here for the certificate. You’re here to scam, right? Wake up!" The staff came out to check on Wayne.
Realizing he wasn’t breathing.
Scared, she slumped to the ground.
This frightened Annelise as well.
She had been taking care of Wayne for the past few days. Apart from being unable to perform, he was quite healthy.
How did this happen for no reason?
She frowned, recalling the van they encountered on the way to get married.
Could it be that the people from the van did something to Wayne?
But it was barely two minutes; what could they have done?
Annelise didn’t care about it anymore; she could finally breathe a sigh of relief, not needing to marry Wayne.
"Annelise, you jinx! I’m going to sue you. You killed my son!" The old lady suddenly jumped out from behind Annelise.
