Landing on Her Heart: Mr. Warner, Let's Get Back Together!
Chapter 102: Elias Warner Crashes the Wedding
CHAPTER 102: CHAPTER 102: ELIAS WARNER CRASHES THE WEDDING
She grabbed Annelise Winter’s hair and slapped her leg with the other hand, shouting, "This little whore, if she didn’t want to marry my son, she’d have to kill him! My poor son!"
The old woman started to wail.
The people around began to murmur among themselves.
"No way, could such a beautiful woman be so vicious?"
"I doubt it, the guy looks so sleazy, and the old woman seems so difficult to get along with!"
"Call the police, just call the police!"
It took only a few minutes for the police to arrive.
The old woman clung to them, grabbing one officer’s arm, wailing loudly, "This woman killed my son! My poor son, made impotent by her, and then killed, it’s too cruel! Officers, you must seek justice for me!"
"If what you say is true, we will naturally seek justice for you. Let’s go, to the police station for statements!"
The officer glanced at Annelise, signaling her to come along.
Annelise had never encountered such a situation before, witnessing someone alive suddenly dying in front of her for the first time.
With a fearful expression, she followed the police out of the marriage bureau.
The police station.
The officers asked for details.
"Miss Winter, please tell us, what exactly happened?"
"I don’t know either, we just encountered a van on the way to the marriage bureau!"
Annelise recalled the events along the way, the only suspicious thing being that van. She now wanted to know how exactly Wayne Young died.
"Can you describe what that van looked like? Do you have any recollection of the license plate number?"
Annelise tried hard to remember, but she couldn’t recall if the van had a license plate number.
"It seemed like it was an unmarked car! Officer, can I leave now?"
She finally remembered.
"Although Wayne Young’s death cannot prove a connection to you, there is no evidence to prove you have no connection to it either. We cannot release you right now!"
Annelise was anxious, Luna was still in the hospital, and she wanted to go out to find Luna.
She thought obtaining the marriage license would grant her temporary freedom, but now she was trapped in this prison.
"Don’t even dream about getting out, I want you to pay for my son’s life, so just stay well in this prison!"
The old woman roared from behind the officers in the interrogation room.
"What? Is this police station owned by your family, that you can stop her from getting out?"
A cold voice instantly drew the attention of everyone present.
A tall figure cast a shadow over the old woman.
"It’s you!"
The old woman squinted her eyes, recognizing Elias Warner.
She knew the reason behind her son’s impotence. It was exactly because she feared offending the Warner Family she proposed the idea of Annelise marrying her son.
Unexpectedly, the Warner Family got involved in her son’s affair again.
She had just called Renee Perry, who promised not to intervene in having Annelise buried with Wayne Young for his death.
Why did Elias Warner appear?
Listening to Elias Warner’s words.
He was going to rescue this little whore, Annelise?
If it had been an accident at the banquet that he had someone harm her son leading to his impotence, what about now?
The old woman squinted her eyes, a rising anger but she dared not offend Elias Warner.
Her inner fury turned into a sarcastic question, "Mr. Warner, you’re here to bail Annelise?"
"Exactly!"
Elias Warner showed no hesitation.
"Ms. Perry promised not to interfere, so who in your family makes the decisions, you or your mother?"
The old woman was warning Elias Warner that Renee Perry had already assured her she would not interfere.
Elias Warner clenched his fist, unprepared for the revelation that his mother had already conspired with the old woman.
Not only had they cruelly set up Annelise, nearly ruining her reputation at the banquet, but now they wanted her to be incarcerated for the Wayne Young incident?
How exactly did Annelise offend his mother so?
To make her take such decisive actions.
Could it be that his mother’s acceptance of Annelise as a goddaughter over these years was just a facade while secretly, she had no affection for her?
Elias Warner dared not imagine, especially since both he and Annelise were just middle and high school students back then.
His mother had liked Annelise.
Could it have been because of the matter with Chase Perry a few years ago?
Which made her lose face?
Elias Warner clenched his fist. Since his mother agreed with the old woman, he couldn’t openly oppose her.
Hence, Elias Warner said, "Alright, since my mother gave her word, I’ll show you respect, I won’t meddle in this for now!"
Elias Warner turned and left.
Annelise watched his departing figure, her eyes suddenly moist.
Her hand trembled slightly, as the flame of hope in her heart seemed to be doused with a bucket of cold water.
All she felt was an overwhelming chill.
Colder than this late autumn’s night.
Until Elias Warner’s figure completely vanished from the prison, the old woman became smug.
She walked up to Annelise, "You were counting on him to save you? What’s your relationship with him? Aren’t you two supposed to be just siblings? You enchantress, the way you looked at him just now seemed like you were seducing him. Oh, so pitiful, but sadly, the Warner Family always keeps its word, his mother, Renee Perry promised me, she wouldn’t interfere with my son’s matter, so I can do whatever I want with you!"
Initially, she was surprised at Renee Perry’s attitude towards Annelise.
But she was clever enough.
With a little speculation, she guessed the reason.
"Some people really don’t know their own place, not realizing their own worth, and still don’t understand! I’ll have my lawyer sue you, just wait!"
The old woman left.
Annelise’s heart sank to the bottom.
Outside the police station.
Uncle Ford saw Elias Warner leaving the prison, looking behind him but finding no one.
"Young Master, weren’t you going to bail Miss Winter out? Why are you alone?"
Elias lit a cigarette, got into the car, and sat in the passenger seat, rolling down the window.
"Has my mother been giving Annelise a hard time recently? And the matter of Annelise marrying Wayne Young, was that another of my mother’s schemes?"
After finishing the words, his well-defined fingers went white as he crushed the barely smoked cigarette into the car’s ashtray.
The cigarette lay bent and extinguished in the ashtray, lifeless.
"Yes, I checked, it was all Madam’s doing; otherwise, Wayne Young’s mother wouldn’t be so audacious, boldly going after someone from the Warner Family."
"Hmph, someone from the Warner Family?" Elijah Warner sneered.
He had a clear understanding now of what his mother, Renee Perry, had planned.
It was nothing more than wanting to sever any ties between him and Annelise.
But was it necessary to be so ruthless?
