Chapter 104: Is the Deep Affection in His Eyes Just an Act?
CHAPTER 104: CHAPTER 104: IS THE DEEP AFFECTION IN HIS EYES JUST AN ACT?
"Why is it him?"
Annelise Winter frowned. Recently, due to being too close to Elias Warner, too much had happened, things that shouldn’t have happened in the first place.
Moreover, Luna was also getting too close to Elias Warner now.
The closer they got, the greater the risk became.
Mrs. Lockwood, with her sharp business acumen from years in the industry, quickly saw through Annelise’s thoughts.
"If you don’t want to get out of the car, you don’t have to!"
"No, Grandma, it’s fine. I can handle my own matters!"
As Annelise spoke, she pushed open the car door.
"Alright, if anything happens, call me, no matter what it is. Grandma will always be your support. You have nothing to fear, not even the Warner Family!"
"Thank you, Grandma!"
Annelise was very grateful for Mrs. Lockwood’s help; otherwise, she didn’t know when she could have gotten out of the predicament.
Elias Warner didn’t forcefully pull Annelise over. With one hand in his pocket, he leaned against the car hood, staring at Annelise.
Seeing Annelise step out of the car, his eyes were filled with complex emotions.
Fortunately, she was safe.
Fortunately, she didn’t marry Wayne Young.
Almost lost her while on a trip to Breslin.
Luckily, there was still time.
Annelise, do you know, when I heard you were going to marry Wayne Young, it felt like my heart was being torn apart.
Why are you so heartless, five years ago and still the same now?
Even if someone was forcing you, couldn’t you resist?
Even if you couldn’t resist, couldn’t you seek help from me?
Elias clenched his fists.
Thinking about these things reignited emotions he thought he had calmed, and within a moment, he stepped forward and embraced Annelise.
"Elias Warner, what are you doing? Mrs. Lockwood’s car hasn’t left yet!"
Annelise pushed against Elias’s chest, trying to escape his fervent embrace.
Suddenly, she felt the grip around her waist tighten, suffocating her.
"Elias Warner, we’re outside!"
Annelise struggled against Elias.
"So what? You’re unmarried, I’m unmarried, what’s wrong with us being together? Even if someone took pictures and published them, whether it made headline news or not, so what?"
Breathing heavily, Elias voiced his inner thoughts.
Annelise was stunned.
She looked at Elias surprised.
Were these his true feelings?
But wasn’t he supposed to be avenging her betrayal from five years ago?
Annelise was lost in her thoughts, forgetting to struggle, a familiar sensation seemed to return.
But she couldn’t hope for all this, regardless of whether Elias’s words were true or not.
Her eyes grew moist, cupping his face, she stood on tiptoe and kissed his lips.
Seeing her struggling, Elias leaned down, held her up, suspending her in mid-air.
For a moment, their positions shifted, Elias’s gaze lingered on Annelise’s face for several seconds before suddenly gripping her wrist tightly.
Annelise felt a force pulling her, her whole being like a fluttering butterfly, spinning when the wind blew.
Suddenly, a light tobacco scent engulfed her, making it hard to breathe.
In the midst of her tension, he suddenly let go, his low voice whispered in her ear: "Sit in the car!"
Annelise’s cheeks blushed slightly, unsure if it was out of embarrassment or anger.
Elias turned her around, his palm pressed against the exposed skin of her neck.
Annelise resisted with her gaze: "No!"
Elias’s eyes met hers directly.
His blazing gaze left Annelise with no room for resistance.
The hand on Annelise’s neck slightly tightened, and she was lifted up entirely.
Her loose coat rising around her waist, as he held her.
His eyes were filled with deep affection.
Was he acting?
But even if he was acting, she couldn’t help but blush.
Elias opened the car door and placed Annelise in the back seat.
Annelise’s face flushed from his teasing, her gaze hazy.
It reminded her of the days and nights with him five years ago.
"Hold me! Hold me tight!"
Her gentle voice filled Elias’s ears, momentarily surprising him.
Such sudden tenderness made him a bit more composed.
"Take the initiative yourself!"
His voice hoarse, flipping Annelise over onto him.
Holding Elias’s face, Annelise kissed him, letting out a stiff moan.
"Your technique is terrible, after all these years, you’ve made no progress. How will you pay it back?"
Seeing Annelise react, Elias’s mind inexplicably wandered back to the incidents involving Annelise and Chase Perry.
His aroused emotions felt as if doused with cold water.
The alternating hot and cold sensations were torturous.
But such feelings felt ethereal, real enough to make him scared of losing her again.
As if he was dreaming.
Annelise’s fingers embedded into his skin, moving upward...
His breath became heavy, an impending eruption of heat surged from somewhere.
"Buzz... Buzz"
The phone’s ringtone interrupted, buzzing continuously.
Elias fished the untimely ringing phone from his pocket.
It was Luna.
Hurriedly, he answered the call.
"Daddy, I’m alone in the hospital and I miss you, can you come and see me? Daddy, didn’t you say mommy would come to see me? Are you lying to me?"
Luna’s sobs pierced Elias’s heart like a knife.
"Don’t cry, Luna, be a good girl. Is Dr. Flora there? I’ll come over right now to be with you!"
Elias’s heart felt like it was being torn apart, hearing Luna cry made him restless, leaving no mood to do anything with Annelise.
He pushed Annelise away, got up, and adjusted his clothing.
"I’ll have Uncle Ford come to pick you up, you go back to the villa and get a good rest, don’t go anywhere. Too much has happened lately. Take some time to calm down!"
By the time Elias got out of the car, Uncle Ford had already arrived.
As she watched Elias leave the car, Annelise felt conflicted.
It was Luna’s call; she heard it clearly.
Luna was crying for her parents.
She clenched her fist, yearning to go with Elias to see Luna.
But she couldn’t.
Looking around, Mrs. Lockwood’s car had left at some point.
"Miss Winter, please sit tight. I’ll take you back to the villa now,"
Uncle Ford stepped on the accelerator, and glanced at Annelise through the rearview mirror.
Having followed Elias for a long time, he was adept at reading cues. From the mirror, he noticed the anxiety spilling from Annelise’s face.
"Miss Winter, is something wrong?"
Hearing Uncle Ford’s question, Annelise’s mind raced.
She frowned, looking unwell, and slowly said: "Uncle Ford, I’m suddenly feeling a bit unwell, could you please take me to the hospital?"
