Landing on Her Heart: Mr. Warner, Let's Get Back Together!
Chapter 109: Is She Jealous?
CHAPTER 109: CHAPTER 109: IS SHE JEALOUS?
Luna has a deep scar on her chest.
That was left from the surgery she underwent. Annelise Winter couldn’t imagine what Luna went through in the operating room when she saw it for the first time.
She was so young, going through such a major surgery, without her mother’s company.
Suddenly, she felt somewhat grateful to Elias Warner.
Thank you for being there for Luna when she needed someone the most.
At least, it lessened her guilt.
With trembling hands, she moved closer to Luna, touching her small face, and leaned down to kiss her eyelashes, nose, and little mouth.
Through this series of contacts, the longing in her heart erupted like a flood.
She climbed into Luna’s bed and hugged Luna tightly.
Just like before, before Luna had the surgery, when she told Luna stories every day.
Every day, she would hold her like this and tell her the stories she liked to hear.
The light through the window screen felt like gentle hands; Annelise soothing Luna, and the nightlight soothing Annelise.
Thinking about these things, Annelise unknowingly fell asleep.
Morning.
The sunlight filtering through the window screen woke Luna up.
Luna opened her grape-like eyes, saw Annelise’s face, and was too surprised to speak.
She pinched her little hand and then pinched her little face.
Ouch!
Last night she dreamed that her mother came to hug her and sleep with her.
Unexpectedly, the dream came true in the morning.
Her mother was actually hugging her.
Yes, it was her mother, the familiar scent.
This was her mother’s natural fragrance.
"Mom, is that you? Mom?"
Luna climbed up, lay on Annelise, and hugged her tightly, curling her whole body on top of her.
Annelise was awakened by the noise.
When she raised her eyes, she found Luna pressing down on her.
A small mouth was kissing her.
"Luna!"
Annelise got up and hugged Luna tightly in her arms.
"Mom, it really is you, that’s great, Mom, I can live with both Dad and Mom together, that’s great, Mom, Luna is so happy!"
Luna shouted joyfully.
Annelise quickly covered Luna’s mouth and gestured for her to be quiet.
"Luna, shh, be a bit quieter, don’t let others hear. I have to tell you something. When you’re at Dad’s house, you can’t call me Mom. You have to call me Ms. Winter, and you can’t say you know Mom, okay?"
"Why? Why can’t I call you Mom?" Luna frowned, a little unhappy.
"Luna, let’s play a game, okay? You have to keep calling me Ms. Winter and not tell anyone about this. If you keep it up, I’ll grant you a wish, alright?"
Annelise touched Luna’s cheek, eagerly awaiting her answer.
When Luna heard that her mom wanted to play a game with her, she happily clapped her hands: "Okay, Ms. Winter, but my wish is, I hope you and Dad and I, our family, can be together forever!"
Luna grabbed Annelise’s hand, holding it tightly.
"Good girl, Luna, as long as you play this game with Mom and don’t tell anyone, you can be with Dad and Mom forever, but if you tell someone or call me Mom, then this wish won’t come true!"
Annelise pinched Luna’s little face.
"Alright, Ms. Winter, I got it!"
Luna was so happy she almost flew.
"Alright, I need to go back to my room. Don’t tell Dad that Mom was here, okay?"
Annelise softly instructed Luna.
"I know, Mom!" Luna thought about how the lady who might have been in the room with her dad last night was her mom, and she regretted not seeing her sooner.
But now it’s good, she can be with Mom all the time.
Even if she can’t call her Mom, she’s still happy.
Annelise got up, reluctantly said goodbye to Luna, and walked out of Luna’s room.
When Annelise reached the living room, she heard the sound of a car outside; it seemed Elias Warner had returned.
She quickly ran out from Luna’s room.
In just a few minutes, Elias Warner, dressed in a suit, was coming up the stairs.
Annelise was on her way running to her room.
She suddenly bumped right into Elias Warner.
At that moment, Annelise was still wearing sleepwear.
It was a new set of comfortable cotton pajamas that Mama Langdon had given her after Elias left the room yesterday.
"Did you go to Luna’s room?" Elias Warner frowned, staring in surprise at the direction Annelise came from, Luna’s ward.
"No... no!" Annelise hurriedly lied to cover up.
"Really? Didn’t you? Then why are you so nervous?" Elias Warner lifted her chin up.
"I’m not nervous. Yes, I went to Luna’s room, but I was just curious to see what the child of you and another woman looks like!"
Annelise knew Elias Warner was hard to deceive.
He always had a keen eye.
"Oh? Admitting so soon? You say you wanted to see my child with someone else? Are you jealous, or do you have another motive?"
Elias Warner drawled out the word "motive."
"So, when we just broke up, you already had a child with another woman? That child should be about five years old, right? Elias Warner, you said before you wanted to see what color my heart was. Now I want to see what color your heart is! Seems like life was pretty good for you after the breakup; I thought you’d be heartbroken."
Annelise was trying to change the subject.
Elias Warner had clearly walked into her trap.
Was she jealous?
He still found Annelise beautiful at the moment. He liked seeing her angry and jealous.
This made Elias Warner’s heart swell a bit.
"So you’re disappointed I’m not heartbroken?" Elias Warner said through clenched teeth, grabbing the back of her head, holding tight, just staring at her.
Did this woman really have no heart?
After so many years, he only slightly recovered from her betrayal.
"Yes, you’re right, I’m not heartbroken at all. I’m doing fine, you’re really not that important in my heart, Annelise, who do you think you are? How could I possibly be sad over your betrayal?"
Elias Warner’s deep voice carried anger, although he was forcing himself to stay calm.
"Also, if it weren’t for your persistent pestering back then, how could I have liked you? There were so many people pursuing me at school, I nearly had a sack full of love letters!"
Elias Warner’s words deeply pierced Annelise.
"I should thank you for betraying me; otherwise, how could I have such an adorable daughter with someone else?"
He slowly moved closer to Annelise.
Unknowingly, he had cornered her against the wall.
Elias Warner’s hands were pressed against the wall, his body blocking Annelise’s path.
Looking down at her like this.
