Landing on Her Heart: Mr. Warner, Let's Get Back Together!
Chapter 139: Only the Unloved Is the Third Wheel
CHAPTER 139: CHAPTER 139: ONLY THE UNLOVED IS THE THIRD WHEEL
Annelise glanced at Elias Warner, just about to say something, when she saw Sylvia Lowell standing outside the door, wearing a pink dress and carrying a Chanel handbag.
An impeccable socialite look, true to her high-class upbringing.
Sylvia had come over after Elias Warner left and hadn’t returned.
Unexpectedly, when she finally found him, she saw him walking out of the fitting room.
His clothes were disheveled, and there were red lipstick marks on his shirt.
Meanwhile, Annelise’s makeup was smudged, especially her lipstick.
There was no need to guess; anyone with eyes could see what the two had been doing in the fitting room.
Sylvia clenched her fingers, digging them into her palms fiercely.
She was going mad with jealousy.
Why would Elias Warner see Annelise in such a scandalous state and still treat her like this?
Why would he still come after her and be so intimate?
Elias Warner stared at the clothes Annelise had just changed into. Although they were better than the ultra-short, bikini-like outfit she had worn earlier, they still weren’t much better.
He immediately took off his jacket and approached to drape it over Annelise.
He stood behind her, shielding her rear.
He leaned down, whispering in her ear, completely ignoring the presence of the other two people in the room.
"Did you ever dance like this for Chase Perry?"
For some reason, he kept thinking of Chase Perry’s face, and he was insanely jealous.
This woman, while being with him, never once mentioned she could dance like this, nor had she ever danced like this.
Why is that?
After leaving for five years, she had become the top star at the bar.
Did she learn to dance for him?
Did she ever perform for him?
Elias Warner seemed plagued by a mental affliction, forcing him to ask this question.
"Boring!"
Annelise didn’t reply, preparing to leave.
She simply didn’t want to see Sylvia and Elias Warner standing in front of her together.
She had just held back tears while on stage.
She didn’t know if staying with these two would drive her mad.
She took off Elias Warner’s jacket.
But as soon as she raised her hand, a pair of hot, strong hands grabbed her, pulling her toward the dressing room door.
Heading toward the VIP room they had just come from.
Sylvia watched Elias Warner and Annelise’s departing figures from behind, a cold and sinister look in her eyes.
A few minutes later
Elias Warner led Annelise upstairs deliberately, bypassing the main hall on the second floor to pass in front of Chase Perry, but didn’t spare him a glance, heading straight for the private room.
The crowd whispered.
"What’s going on? Isn’t Captain Warner Miss Lowell’s fiancé? Why is he suddenly so close to Annelise? They look intimate!"
"Yeah, what’s the situation? We just heard Annelise questioning Captain Warner about Miss Lowell; why does it feel like Miss Lowell is the third wheel?"
"What are you talking about? How could Miss Lowell be compared to that country girl Annelise!"
"Nonsense, the one who’s unloved is the third wheel!"
The crowd murmured.
"I have to say, I admire Annelise for daring to snatch someone else’s fiancé in a crowded place! So shameless!"
"What nonsense! Obviously, Captain Warner went to find Annelise himself! If anyone’s to be blamed, it’s Captain Warner who’s the scumbag!"
Chloe Joyce defended Annelise.
Everyone looked at Chloe Joyce in shock.
This woman had the audacity to call Captain Warner a scumbag.
Chase Perry’s heart was seized.
His hands trembled slightly, distracted and not listening to the ongoing conversation, as his heart was taken when Annelise and Elias Warner walked past him.
June Winter glanced at Chase Perry.
Her heart was seized too.
She realized that Chase Perry’s mind was far from the hall and that it was entirely captivated by Annelise.
A surge of jealousy swept over her.
"What are you guys talking about? Didn’t you see Elias went to the private room with his fiancée too?"
Hearing June Winter’s words.
The crowd glanced toward the private room, indeed seeing Sylvia following behind the two into the room.
"Three people going to the private room? What’s going on?"
"Could it lead to a fight?"
"Don’t worry, how could Annelise ever compare with the Lowell family’s eldest daughter? Besides looks, what else can she compete with Sylvia?"
"That sister of mine just went to play hostess! Elias Warner must have gone to the private room to vent his fiancée’s anger since Annelise dared to offend his fiancée in front of everyone!"
"Yeah, for sure that’s the case!"
The crowd continued whispering.
"Exactly, Annelise dances here, even being the star performe, while she outwardly claims to sell art not herself, who knows the truth!"
"June Winter! Enough! Haven’t you said enough? She’s your sister after all! How can you spread such rumors about her?"
Chase Perry slammed his glass hard on the table.
The crowd immediately fell silent.
June Winter’s eyes turned red: "Chase Perry, you’re yelling at me for Annelise? Am I wrong? Why else doesn’t Annelise dare to join us?"
"Exactly, if she has nothing to hide, why not stay with us?"
"Yeah!"
After June Winter’s words faded.
A commotion erupted in the crowd.
Everyone looked in the same direction.
They saw Annelise appear in front of them, wearing a long white dress.
Chloe Joyce graciously waved at Annelise.
"Annelise, over here!"
Annelise walked towards Chloe Joyce’s direction.
The people who had been gossiping quickly and unconsciously made a path for Annelise to walk through.
Though they were gossiping about her lowly status as a hostess, at this moment, Annelise projected an aura of a high-class socialite.
June Winter squinted her eyes, refusing to let Annelise change her image in everyone’s mind.
"Sister, didn’t you go to the private room to entertain? Why are you suddenly out? Could it be because Elias and Sylvia think you’re not good at it and kicked you out?"
Annelise raised her glass, ready to clink drinks with Chloe Joyce.
But June Winter’s cynical remarks interrupted her.
Just as she was about to speak, Elias Warner also came forward, bypassing everyone to sit directly beside Annelise.
The crowd was shocked.
June Winter was even more stunned.
How could this be?
She intended to embarrass Annelise, so why did Elias Warner voluntarily sit next to her?
"It seems someone just runs their mouth without any real skills, babbling nonsense!"
Chloe Joyce wasn’t afraid of offending anyone; Elias Warner’s action clearly showed that their accusations against Annelise were unfounded.
People exchanged puzzled glances.
"Sister, didn’t I tell you, Elias is engaged to Sylvia; is it appropriate for you to sit with Elias?"
"Since when did my affairs become yours to meddle with, June Winter?"
Elias Warner said coldly.
The crowd fell silent.
June Winter was immediately speechless.
Chase Perry scolded June Winter: "I told you to shut up already!"
