Landing on Her Heart: Mr. Warner, Let's Get Back Together!
Chapter 44: Disappearing Completely with Luna
CHAPTER 44: CHAPTER 44: DISAPPEARING COMPLETELY WITH LUNA
Alice’s heart skipped a beat as she opened her eyes, following the straight slacks upwards.
Her eyes were momentarily blinded by the light.
Seeing who it was, she sighed in relief, her voice hoarse from dehydration, "Chase?"
But the next second, Alice clenched her fists, her expression turning cold again, "Who told you to come?"
Chase looked at her in this sorry state, his eyes showing nothing but heartache.
It felt like being pricked by a needle, "I said, when Luna has surgery, as long as I’m in Breslin, I will come to see her."
In fact, he had been there for a while, just watching from a distance, not daring to come forward.
He knew Alice’s concerns and knew he was married, should not cause Alice any trouble.
But this visit was not just to see Luna.
Alice turned her gaze away, stood up and walked away, her eyes on the lit surgical room light.
"Since you’ve seen her, you can leave now. It’s your honeymoon with June, thank you on Luna’s behalf."
Chase felt irritated, his deep eyes firmly fixed on her in the doll costume, taking a deep breath.
"I know I shouldn’t have come!"
Since deciding to let go, since Alice always sees him just as a good friend, he should keep his distance.
"But I got word from my side, my brother is checking your medical records from the past few years... He’s also in Breslin, I’m worried he might know about Luna!"
This news finally caused a shift in Alice’s emotions, she snapped her head back.
"He’s really checking?"
"Luckily, we were prepared, what he got should be records of miscarriages, so he doesn’t know about Luna’s existence yet."
Although he wanted to bring their family together, he could not reveal the news without Alice’s permission.
Chase reassured, "I’ll keep an eye on it, if you insist on not letting him know, I will think of a way."
Alice let out a breath of relief, "It’s fine, this is good. There’s nothing else needed."
As long as he only got the miscarriage records.
That’s enough to make him completely disgusted with her.
She had escaped from that room all night long, Elias had received the call but did not come to find her.
Should no longer check on her health status now.
As Luna’s mother, she had thoroughly offended him, without any chance of interaction later, Elias would never suspect Luna’s identity, never know Luna is his daughter.
Just let him start a new life. Let her and Luna disappear completely from his life!
At this moment, the light in the surgical room changed from in-surgery to recovery.
An assistant doctor came out to notify the family.
Seeing this, Alice staggered and rushed over.
"Luna’s Mother, congratulations, the surgery was very successful."
"Really? Thank you, thank you, doctor. When can Luna come out?"
"You can’t see her now, she’s undergoing anesthesia recovery, once she passes that, she will transfer to PICU."
Alice nodded, the panic and fear of the whole night, without eating or drinking, almost made her unable to stand, still clad in the heavy doll costume.
Staggering, her whole being loosened.
Nearly fell down with weak legs.
Luckily, Chase was there to hold her.
Chase was worried about her, "You can’t go on like this, since Luna’s surgery is over, let me take you to eat something. Maintaining your strength will help you take better care of Luna."
Alice struggled free, "No need, I’ll wait a bit more."
She wanted to wait for Dr. Flora to come out, wait for Luna to successfully recover from anesthesia, confirm all is well after moving to PICU, only then would she be at ease.
Half an hour later, Dr. Flora came out of the surgery room.
Stated that Luna had been transferred to PICU, tears finally fell from Alice’s eyes.
Seeing Chase had replaced Elias beside Alice, Dr. Flora nodded in greeting to Chase, then asked, "Did Mr. Warner leave? Why is he not here?"
Alice said, "Mr. Warner is clearly not an ordinary person, I cannot take up too much of his time, I let him go back first. It’s been too troublesome these days. Also, please trasfer the two million back."
Dr. Flora knew Alice did not want to accept such a big favor.
Though met by chance, to be able to do this, it was Luna’s fortune.
She no longer persuaded, thought of the Peace Lock taken off for Luna’s surgery, took it out.
"By the way, here’s Luna’s Peace Lock, it looks very valuable, it should be left by Mr. Warner, do you want to keep it for her, or let her take it into PICU?"
The moment Dr. Flora took out the Peace Lock, Alice’s breath stopped.
This Peace Lock was the one she had worn since she was a child, the one she begged Elias for numerous times but he refused to give her.
Elias clearly told her the Peace Lock was thrown away, the garbage had been handled by Mama Carter!
But why not only hadn’t he thrown it away, but also kept the Peace Lock on him.
But Luna was still in danger.
She didn’t want to return the Peace Lock yet, clenching her fist, Alice decided, "Please bring it into the PICU for Luna first, with the Peace Lock there, Luna will be at peace!"
After Luna safely passed the critical period, returning the Peace Lock to Elias wouldn’t be too late.
Dr. Flora said, "Alright! Luna’s Mother, you should go rest too, don’t wear yourself out! I’ll leave first!"
Dr. Flora took the elevator, ready to clock out.
For Luna’s surgery, she had worked ten-plus hours without eating or drinking all night, pushing her body to the limit.
Unexpectedly, as soon as she entered the elevator, she saw Elias Warner, who kept everyone at a distance, standing inside.
Original fatigue instantly vanished from Dr. Flora, "Mr. Warner? Why are you still in the hospital? Didn’t you leave last night?"
The man was handsome, sharp, and indifferent.
Without saying yes or no, he just nodded.
Dr. Flora realized something, quickly made room for Elias Warner.
"Oh I know! Are you going to see Luna? Let me tell you, Luna’s surgery was very successful! As long as she safely passes the infection and rejection period, Luna can live a normal child’s life!"
Elias Warner loosened his clenched fist in his pocket, but showed little reaction on his face.
"Hmm, congratulations to her."
Dr. Flora kept pressing the elevator button for open doors, "Aren’t you getting off the elevator? Luna’s Mother is still at the surgery room entrance! Maybe you can meet there."
"No need, I’ll go downstairs."
Elias Warner coldly refused, dousing Dr. Flora with cold water.
Something not right!
He was fine before the surgery, why so indifferent to Luna after the surgery?
But Mr. Warner’s attire does not match what Luna’s Mother said about him leaving last night?
