Landing on Her Heart: Mr. Warner, Let's Get Back Together!
Chapter 56: His Fiancée Is...
CHAPTER 56: CHAPTER 56: HIS FIANCÉE IS...
The whole person fell onto the steps.
The pain was excruciating!
Her knees were scraped! Blood was everywhere! Her ankle was swelling and reddening quickly!
Because she was wearing a white dress today, the bloodstains immediately soaked right through, and Annelise was in too much pain to get up.
Elias Warner stopped in his tracks, just standing there on the steps, looking down at her.
Renee Perry also quickly came over, and upon seeing the glaring bloodstains on the white dress, her expression sank immediately.
"Annelise! What happened to you?! Hurry and change your clothes! Don’t delay our dinner!"
Though spoken in a consultative tone, her words carried an air of command under the gentlest of expressions.
Annelise was biting her lip to endure the pain, just about to respond.
Then a firm male voice came across.
"What’s more important, eating or her foot? Annelise’s leg is so severely injured, it’s best to get to the hospital quickly!"
Elias Warner alone remained silent, but Annelise, with her head lowered, didn’t see his expression at that moment!
It was dark as the ocean floor!
Elias Warner stared at the bloodstain on Annelise’s dress, his eyes narrowing dangerously.
Annelise’s heart felt as though pierced by something.
She forced herself to stand up, sincerely apologizing to them.
"Uncle, Auntie, I’m sorry I can’t accompany you, so I’ll head off first."
"Mr. Warner!"
Renee Perry looked at her coldly, fully aware that Annelise had deliberately fallen, but in front of her husband, she couldn’t play the villain!
"Hurry up, hurry up."
Elias’s dad kept urging, "Let Uncle Ford take you over, if he’s not there, then find Uncle Ray..."
"No need for such trouble, I can just grab a taxi myself, it’s very convenient."
Annelise limped out towards the hotel entrance.
Renee didn’t expect Annelise to escape like this!
But did Annelise think she could avoid everything by not attending the family dinner?
Daring to step over her authority and defy her.
She certainly would bear the consequences of her actions.
Renee discreetly instructed Uncle Ray.
Yet in front of her husband and son, she remained elegant and graceful, soft and dignified, "Alright, Uncle Ford and Uncle Ray are both here, what more is there to worry about? Let’s go, don’t keep them waiting!"
With that, the family of three disappeared up the spiral staircase.
In the cold wind, only Annelise remained.
She didn’t want to take the Warner family’s car, quickly heading to the hotel’s reception hall, but unexpectedly got called.
"Annelise?"
Annelise looked up in response and was surprised to see Sylvia Lowell here.
"Sylvia? What are you doing here?"
Sylvia approached, gentle and elegant, "I have an important dinner to attend."
She held Annelise’s hand as she replied, but accidentally noticed Annelise’s unnatural posture, looking down, she frowned tightly.
"Annelise, how did you get hurt like this? What have you been busy with lately? Last time you left so quickly, I didn’t have a chance to ask you! What happened this time?"
Annelise awkwardly smiled, "It’s nothing major, just an unfortunate fall. If you have something to do, hurry and attend to it."
Today Sylvia was wearing a pale pink gauzy long dress, looking gentle and elegant, her pink diamond hairpin matching her dress perfectly, adding a simple charm that enhanced her graceful demeanor.
Such attire was rarely seen on Sylvia.
This further proved the importance of today’s dinner for Sylvia.
Unexpectedly, it was such a coincidence that Sylvia was here attending a dinner too.
Seeing Annelise so weak, Sylvia’s heart ached, her brows knit tightly.
"How much force did you use to get hurt so badly? Did you injure other places as well? Let me take you to the hospital..."
Sylvia said without thinking.
"No need." Annelise quickly refused.
"Don’t you have a dinner to go to? Why aren’t you heading up? Don’t keep people waiting."
Sylvia seemed to suddenly remember something, giving an embarrassed smile.
"Oh, I almost forgot! Sorry, Annelise, if it wasn’t for such an important dinner, I definitely would have personally taken you to the hospital!"
"Mm, mm, I know, don’t worry about me, go handle your matters."
"Alright, but give me a call when you get to the hospital. Oh no, wait, I’ll find you after I’m done!"
Sylvia said worriedly as she bid Annelise farewell, taking a few steps and turning back multiple times as she went upstairs.
Annelise waved at her, limped out of the hotel.
She deliberately avoided Uncle Ford or Uncle Ray, hailing a cab and leaving directly.
Ever since Annelise left, an inexplicable low pressure lingered among Elias Warner’s family.
Renee sensed the off atmosphere and upon entering the private room, turned to see the low pressure emanated from her precious son sitting beside her.
Seeing Elias Warner’s gloomy face, only one possibility floated in Renee’s mind, and she tentatively nudged Elias’s arm.
"What’s wrong? Annelise left and your soul followed?"
Elias’s face darkened even more.
Then, with a somber face, he raised his wrist to check his watch, without hesitation, "I have something to do later, so I won’t stay for dinner, I’ll leave first."
Renee was suddenly alarmed.
"You, today is the day you meet your girlfriend’s parents, it doesn’t make sense for you, the main character, to not be present! The private room is about to be ready, you’re not going to make her wait for you, are you? You told me yourself that you wanted to marry your girlfriend!"
She complained aloud, not forgetting to signal to her husband, hoping Elias’s dad would help mediate.
But to her surprise, Elias didn’t respond, not even entering the room, but turning around and walking out.
Just turning back, he saw the girl approaching from a distance.
Their eyes met.
Elias’s gaze suddenly turned cold.
His tall, upright figure blocked the doorway, looking down at the girl who appeared at the entrance, supposedly his girlfriend.
Her eyes lit up upon seeing him, smiling and moving forward, looking up at him with her hands behind her back.
With a coy demeanor.
"Why are you running? As soon as I arrive, you want to leave?!"
