CHAPTER 65: CHAPTER 65: CAPTAIN WARNER LEAVES DR. WINTER’S OFFICE IN DISARRAY

I don’t know when Elias Warner started standing at the door.

Did he hear the conversation between Luna and me?

Could he have found out that Luna is her daughter?

Annelise Winter was a bit flustered, pretending to be calm as she returned to her seat.

She fastened the buttons on her white coat, put on a medical mask, and looked up at him, "Captain Warner, are you here for a pilot’s medical checkup?"

Elias Warner’s face looked unpleasant, and he didn’t reply to Annelise’s question.

He stared at Annelise for a few moments and turned directly away.

With a "bang," the office door was locked.

Annelise clenched the pen in her hand, "Captain Warner, what are you locking the door for in broad daylight?"

She was worried that if someone came over and found the door locked, there would be misunderstandings.

She was even more afraid of someone seeing him enter her office.

Today, she had already been scolded in the restaurant; if this door-locking incident became known, she wouldn’t be able to explain it, no matter how many mouths she had.

"Elias Warner, open the door!"

Seeing him standing there like an unmovable wall, Annelise could only get up, come to the door, and try to pull Elias away from the entrance.

But she couldn’t move him at all; Elias just looked down at her condescendingly, his deep, unreadable gaze heavy on her.

That gaze seemed as if it would see through her the next second.

Annelise chose not to look at him, knowing that if she caused too much commotion, it would only bring unnecessary trouble.

Agitated, she bit her lip and simply handed him an examination form, then took out the measuring tools.

"Fine, don’t open the door! Let’s measure your body size here, then go to other consultation rooms for other tests. The ultrasound room closes at three, so I suggest you hurry!"

Annelise took out the tools to measure Elias, intending to refit his captain’s uniform.

"Captain Warner, please take off your clothes so I can measure you!"

Elias loosened his collar and took off his coat, throwing it onto the chair.

Annelise held her breath, gaze lowered, standing in front of him to take his measurements.

Height, weight, hip circumference...

She measured each data point one by one.

While measuring Elias’s long legs, she was shocked.

She had never known his legs were this long before.

At 1.88 meters, his legs were a striking 1.15 meters long, like a standard male model’s build.

But Annelise hadn’t noticed her own state; she was crouched between Elias’s legs.

All her mind could think of was her earlier words in the restaurant, denying any affection for him.

And her confession of love to another person over the phone.

Yet such an ambiguous position made Elias’s Adam’s apple move slightly.

The blood in his veins began to slowly boil.

Elias restrained himself, "Who were you video chatting with earlier?"

Annelise felt a bit hot, feigning calm, "Captain Warner, are you trying to invade my privacy? Isn’t that inappropriate?"

But Elias gripped her wrist tightly!

"Have you forgotten? Everything you have now is under my control! No matter who you like or love, please keep your feelings in check!"

The coldness in his eyes made Annelise feel so wronged.

Fortunately, from his tone, she could understand that he thought it was a man on the other end of the call!

She was just telling another man she loved him.

Luckily, he didn’t realize the person on the call was Luna.

"And what about you? You’re about to be engaged yet still so hung up on a former girlfriend’s betrayal. Aren’t you worried about your fiancée’s feelings?"

"That’s none of your business!" Elias’s dark gaze engulfed her, suppressing emotions, lifting her chin.

His voice was icy, "Don’t forget, tomorrow night. Or else, you know the consequences."

"Dr. Winter, are you in there? Pre-flight medical checkup!"

A flight attendant called for Annelise to open the door from outside.

Elias didn’t linger, releasing her, taking his coat from the chair, opening the door, and striding away with a grim face.

"Captain... Captain Warner..."

The flight attendants outside were stunned to see Captain Warner coming out of Annelise’s office.

They all fell silent, not daring to breathe heavily.

Once the medical checkup concluded and they stepped outside, it exploded!

"Oh my god? Captain Warner came out of Annelise’s office looking disheveled?"

"Annelise is so bold! Could she have forced herself on Captain Warner?"

"Did you see Captain Warner’s face? It was so grim!"

"Earlier in the restaurant, Annelise denied having any interest in Captain Warner, yet she then uses a medical checkup to entangle and force herself on him!"

Annelise closed the office door, feeling as if she’d used all her strength.

Those mocking words and rumors pierced her heart like needles.

This time, she wouldn’t be able to clear her name, even if she jumped into the Yellow River.

She thought of Elias’s reminder when he left: tomorrow night.

No need to think to know what that meant.

But he was about to get engaged; how could he do this!

Engaged to someone else while entangled with her.

Yet she had no other choice.

Alone in the office, she thought of the call with Luna that she ended abruptly earlier.

Annelise felt deeply guilty.

She dialed the number back, only to find Luna had cried herself to sleep.

Annelise’s heart ached relentlessly, all the way until the night of the next day.

The rain started in the evening, and Annelise took a taxi to the address Elias had given her, his villa in the city center.

It was said that every inch of land here was worth its weight in gold, and those who lived here were either wealthy or distinguished.

The courtyard at the entrance was planted with violets.

Elias had always disliked flowers and plants.

So, did his fiancée like violets too?

Truly, a strange coincidence.

Annelise stood in front of the violets, the autumn wind rustling the sea of flowers, creating waves.

A wave of the sweet fragrance wafted over.

His fiancée must indeed be happy.

Once, when she lay in his arms, she had talked about filling a yard with violets.

But he fulfilled that wish for someone else.

Her heart felt like it had been torn open, bleeding openly.

The villa door was open, and Annelise walked to the entrance but stopped in her tracks.

In an instant, her face turned ashen.

From the doorway to the lobby, the villa was strewn with women’s clothing.

Long dresses, camisoles, lace panties... a man’s belt, suit trousers...

Chaotic, entangled, and ambiguously painful, bitter in the heart.

What urgency had them start at the very entrance...

She dared not go further, retreating quickly to the outside.

All she could visualize in her mind were images of Elias and his fiancée from the doorway to upstairs, to the bed!

So, was this the punishment he spoke of?

Was this the debt he said she had to repay? To see him with another woman, to repay what she had done to him.

All because, back then, she had betrayed him with Chase Perry.

Truly, Elias knew how to thrust the knife into her most vulnerable spot.

Annelise stood awkwardly at the door, her heart shattered!
