Landing on Her Heart: Mr. Warner, Let's Get Back Together!
Chapter 72: Leaving Him Again
CHAPTER 72: CHAPTER 72: LEAVING HIM AGAIN
The thoughts in her mind battled for a long time before she opened that envelope.
She took out the photographs.
Gathering her courage, she began to flip through the photos in her hand.
In the photo, Elias Warner stood beside a girl’s hospital bed, but unfortunately, his tall figure blocked the girl’s face.
So, last night his fiancée was clearly with him in the bridal room... how did she end up in the hospital?
Was she unable to withstand him and got injured?
Annelise Winter felt a pang of bitterness as if her heart was being corroded. She felt so low for thinking this way about a girl she’d never met before.
While she was still lost in her thoughts, Uncle Ray couldn’t help but remind her.
"Miss Winter, let’s go. Madam asked me to take you back to the old house."
"I have to go to work today. I’ll go over after work!"
Annelise couldn’t afford to lose her job; it was her shift today.
"Madam has already informed The Airline; you don’t need to go to work today!"
Uncle Ray squinted his eyes, void of any emotion.
Following Renee Perry, he was accustomed to her methods. As long as Renee wanted something, she had a thousand ways to get it.
Annelise seemed like an ant in his eyes; all her resistance felt redundant.
It was simply a waste of time.
Annelise could only follow Uncle Ray.
However, before getting into the car, she was blocked by Uncle Ford.
Uncle Ford didn’t expect that the cat would return just in time; the dead cat had already been cleaned up, leaving no trace.
Upon hearing that Uncle Ray was picking someone up, he furrowed his brows.
"Young master instructed that Miss Annelise shouldn’t go anywhere; if you’re taking Miss Annelise away, I need to call young master first!"
"No need!"
Renee Perry’s voice came through, shattering Uncle Ford’s emerging thoughts straight at the root.
"Uncle Ford, you have been with the Warner Family for a long time. With Elias for so long, you should have learned to consider things for Elias. Elias is about to fly now, calling him will only distract him. You know that agitating Elias can be very dangerous!"
"This..."
Uncle Ford was torn.
"If Elias asks you for her, tell him to come to me!"
Renee Perry glanced at Annelise Winter with no emotion.
"Let’s go, what are you standing around for? You don’t need to bring anything, go straight to the old house; I’ve arranged everything!"
Renee Perry glared at Annelise, slowly raising the car window.
Her look was an order for Annelise to follow.
Though Annelise didn’t want to be at Renee Perry’s mercy, she wanted to leave here even more urgently.
Annelise followed Renee Perry and got into the car together.
On the road.
Renee Perry sat in the back seat, Uncle Ray drove.
Annelise sat in the front passenger seat.
"Annelise, since you’ve agreed with what I said, you should abide by the rules; your demands aren’t impossible to meet, as long as you follow the rules, it’s good for you and good for everyone else."
"I understand, Mrs. Warner!"
"Elias’s fiancée already knows about you sleeping at Elias’s place, and because of you, his fiancée’s emotions are unstable. She was in an accident and is hospitalized. I explained to outsiders that you’re my goddaughter, Elias’s sister, so you should meet your sister-in-law. In a few days, I’m hosting a banquet to dispel the sickness for my future daughter-in-law; you should attend and formally meet her!"
Annelise didn’t reply, which meant she agreed.
Because she had weaknesses.
Luna and Elias Warner.
She wanted the people she cared about to live a peaceful and smooth life.
She hoped he would never again be troubled by the relationship from five years ago and completely forget the hatred.
After returning to the old house.
Annelise was arranged in an old guest room on the second floor of the old house.
It was very quiet here, which Annelise liked.
Chloe Joyce’s call brought Annelise’s thoughts back.
"Hello, Annelise, why didn’t you come to work today? I heard you took a leave, did something happen?"
The reason Chloe Joyce called Annelise was precisely because Annelise was almost always without breaks.
Normally, even if she was ill, as long as she could manage, she would go to the office.
She just took her annual leave a few days ago.
Not coming today was unusual.
Which made Chloe concerned.
"No, Chloe, something came up at home that needs handling, don’t worry, I’ll be at work tomorrow!"
"That’s good, I thought something happened to you; you are like a robot in my heart, never taking leave!"
"Nothing’s wrong, thank you for your concern!"
"Mainly, Captain Warner is flying to Breslin today, and those gossipy ladies from the cabin crew are talking about you taking leave again—is it to follow Captain Warner to Breslin?"
Annelise’s heart sank.
This time, Elias Warner went to Breslin again; was he going to see Luna?
"What’s wrong, Annelise, why did you suddenly stop talking!"
"Nothing...nothing, let them say what they want; tomorrow I’ll confront them! It’s late, Chloe, get some rest, see you tomorrow!"
The autumn breeze stirred the curtains, prompting Annelise to think about Elias Warner going to Breslin again.
After hanging up the call, Annelise stood before the floor-to-ceiling window, once again gazing toward Breslin.
She was deeply concerned about Luna’s condition but still couldn’t set her mind at ease.
She made a call to Flora.
"Flora, how is Luna doing?"
"Luna’s recovery is going smoothly, but she still can’t leave the transplant ward for now."
"Alright, I understand!"
"By the way, Luna’s Mother, the money you provided, I’ve transferred it to Mr. Warner!" Flora tried to express something else but swallowed her words.
"Thank you!"
Besides saying thank you, Annelise genuinely didn’t know how else to show gratitude to Flora.
"You’re too kind; I’ve always considered you a friend, not an outsider! Whether it’s Luna or your affairs, I’ll treat them seriously. Annelise, it’s best not to bear everything alone!"
Though Flora didn’t spell it out, Annelise understood.
Along this journey, apart from the help from friends, she had to grow stronger to reach the present day.
She hadn’t forgotten her promise to Luna, to bring her back to the country.
Today’s inquiry about Luna’s readiness to leave the ward was to ensure she could visit before permanently leaving this place.
She knew better than anyone else how much Luna yearned to return.
At least, before Luna settles abroad, she wanted to bring Luna back to see for herself.
Furthermore, Annelise always felt uneasy about Elias Warner frequently flying to Breslin! It filled her with dread.
She feared the consequences if Luna continued to have interactions with Elias Warner—the outcome might become uncontrollable, and she absolutely couldn’t allow Elias Warner to discover that Luna is his daughter.
"Alright, I’ll trouble you with taking care of Luna!"
Thinking of Luna’s innocent and cheerful manner whenever she spoke of Elias Warner, Annelise’s thoughts became jumbled.
After hesitating, she finally spoke, "Flora, has Mr. Warner visited the hospital?"
Flora responded, "No, Mr. Warner hasn’t come again, but even if he does, I don’t think it’s worrisome; Luna enjoys her time with him, why do you seem so tense?"
"It’s nothing; I’m just afraid Luna might get hurt in the future! After all, Mr. Warner isn’t Luna’s real father, which is too troublesome for others."
"I understand your concerns, rest assured, I will help take care of Luna!"
As Flora’s words concluded, she walked to Luna’s ward, intending for Luna to see her mommy. Just as she entered, there was a knock on the ward’s door behind her.
