CHAPTER 73: CHAPTER 73: ELIAS WARNER SUSPECTS LUNA’S PARENTAGE

Flora opened the hospital room door, and Chase Perry stood outside.

Luna was so happy she could almost jump out of bed.

But she was in the recovery phase now and didn’t dare to move.

"Uncle Perry, you’ve come again. You’ve been with Luna a lot lately. Aren’t your family worried about you?"

Luna blinked her innocent big eyes, looking at Chase Perry for an answer.

"You little girl, you’ve learned to care about your Uncle Perry!"

Chase Perry walked over to Luna, turned back, and gently brushed her curly hair, pinching her fair and slightly chubby cheeks.

"Hehe, Uncle Perry, I like you. You look just like my dad!"

Luna grinned, reaching out her little hand to touch Chase Perry’s face, which bore a striking resemblance to Elias Warner.

"Then, how about Uncle Perry always be your dad?"

Chase Perry smiled and said to Luna.

"Uncle Perry, I have a dad. You’ll always be my favorite uncle!"

Luna blinked her big eyes, full of innocence.

Though she really liked Chase Perry and once fantasized about him being her dad, after meeting Elias Warner, she was sure Elias was her dad.

She only wanted her dad!

Chase Perry smiled awkwardly.

He suddenly felt a heavy feeling in his chest and needed to go out for a cigarette to ease his emotions.

Even though he knew Luna was his brother’s daughter, having watched her grow up from a little one, suddenly having her find her real dad made him inexplicably a bit jealous.

"Luna, wait here for Uncle, I’ll be back shortly!"

"Okay!"

Chase Perry left the hospital room, and Luna looked at Flora. Her little mind thought quickly, and she asked, "Doctor Flora, I want to go back to find my dad. If I ask Uncle Perry for help, do you think he will help me?!"

"Luna, once you are fully recovered, you can go back to find your dad. Right now, you need to recover properly!"

"Luna will definitely take good care of herself!"

She comforted Luna a bit, but couldn’t stay with her all the time since she had surgery to attend to later.

"Mommy, I miss you and dad. Can you come pick me up? Or maybe let Uncle Perry bring me back!"

"Uncle Perry? Is he with you?"

Annelise Winter was surprised. Wasn’t Chase Perry supposed to be recuperating from an injury? How did he end up with Luna again?

He never mentioned any of this to me.

"He’s been here for a long time now. Ever since dad left last time, he’s been here, never leaving! He got involved in a fight and was injured too, and he’s hospitalized. If I find out who hit him, I’ll definitely seek justice for him, hmph!"

Luna’s words made Annelise Winter sigh involuntarily.

If Luna knew Elias Warner was the one who hit Chase Perry, she wouldn’t say such things.

The nurses’ discussion made Luna’s eyes light up.

"Could it be that dad came to see me? It must be dad who came to see me!"

But just then, a nurse walked in, the one who was just discussing the handsome Veridian man.

"Nurse, you said you saw a very handsome pilot. Do you have a photo? Can I see it?"

Before hanging up with Annelise Winter, Luna quickly asked the nurse.

"Little one, you also like good-looking guys, huh? I just happen to have a photo, let me show you!"

The nurse handed the photo she had just taken to Luna.

"Auntie, this photo you took, it’s of my dad! It’s a picture of my dad!"

"Dad? You say he’s your dad?"

This was a transplant ward, and the nurses in the ward hadn’t seen Elias Warner with Luna during the last surgery.

So they didn’t know about Luna’s relationship with Elias Warner.

The nurse was also surprised, sizing up the little girl in front of her.

"He got into the elevator; I saw him go up to the 16th floor!"

Annelise Winter listened to everything over the phone, becoming anxious.

He really went to the hospital!

Maybe he’s visiting a friend, not there to see Luna.

But Luna knowing he’s at the hospital and not coming to see her would be devastating.

Over the phone, she comforted, "Luna, you must not go out; your body can’t handle it, you’re still recovering!"

"But mommy, I need to find dad, he must not have found me because I’m not in my usual ward. Can you call him and tell him I’m here?"

Luna began to cry in distress.

"Okay, Luna, don’t cry!"

Annelise Winter also began to cry.

Is there anything more cruel than this?

Her father was right there, but she couldn’t see him, nor could they acknowledge each other.

Annelise Winter muttered softly, "I’m sorry Luna, it’s mommy’s fault!"

The call suddenly ended.

When Annelise Winter tried to call back, no one answered.

When Elias Warner stepped out of his comrade’s hospital room, he suddenly remembered the little girl, Luna, he helped last time.

He asked a nurse and found out where Luna’s hospital room was.

On the transplant ward floor, he saw Chase Perry!

Because Luna’s emotions were unstable, the head nurse called Chase Perry over.

"Chase Perry? What are you doing here?"

Elias Warner’s tall and sturdy figure stood firm in the hallway, one hand in his pocket, and he spoke with a stern face.

Chase Perry had just walked out of Luna’s room, and hearing the voice, he thought it was an illusion.

He paused mid-step, turned stiffly, and unexpectedly, his big brother was standing there.

"Brother, you’ve really forgotten a lot of things since you became important. Weren’t you the one who beat me this badly? I’m recovering in this hospital!" Chase Perry didn’t dare look Elias Warner in the eye, his thoughts a mess.

He was worried Elias Warner would see Luna.

"Recovering? Why aren’t you in the orthopedic ward, and instead in the pediatric critical care unit?"

Elias Warner looked at the stammering Chase Perry, his eyes cold and full of chill.

His sharp eyes moved from Chase Perry to Luna’s room a few meters away.

Although they shouldn’t be related, a thought that shouldn’t have appeared still came up, "Who are you here to see?"

"Who else could I be looking for? Just bored of staying in the hospital, so I came out for a walk!" Chase Perry wisely changed the subject, afraid that if Elias Warner discovered something, he’d be in trouble next time.

Elias Warner has always had a keen sense of insight; little escapes his eyes.

Except when it comes to matters of the heart.

"You probably don’t want to see my brother, so I’ll head back to the ward now."

Chase Perry turned and limped back to his ward.

But Elias Warner’s cold gaze never left him, even as he returned to his room.

Back in his room, Chase Perry was still in a state of anxiety, his thoughts a mess.

It’s not surprising that his brother flew to Breslin, but why did he come to the hospital again?

If he discovers that Luna is Annelise’s child, what will he do?

It must not be discovered.

Chase Perry tightly clenched his fingers.

"Knock knock!" An urgent knock came at the door.
