Three dayster, in Julian’s office at Neb Group, it was obvious that he was in quite a terrible mood. There were a bunch of court summons on his office desk. Willow was the prosecutor. She wanted the court to grant her a divorce and to split up theirmon marriage properties and assets.

Julian leaned back on his couch, one leg crossed over the other, as he held the summons in his hand. He then asked Esther, standing next to him, “Has she contacted awyer?”

Esther answered truthfully. “She hired Mr. Zachary Lawless, the most famous and capable divorcewyer in the field. If he agrees to take her up on her case, I’m afraid that Mr. Gibson won’t be able to win the case for you.”

Julian nced at her and said softly, “Who said I was going to court with Willow? That’s just her wish. I do not n on getting a

divorce with her.”

Esther was stunned. “What?”

Julian then ced the summon on the table and tapped on it with his long, slender fingers. The warm sunset glow cast a few rays bof /bsunlight onto his face and reflected in his eyes, making him look like he’d juste out of a picture.

A short whileter, he said, “Contact Mr. Lawless and tell him that I’d like to treat him to dinner. Also, spread the word that…”

Esther was taken aback when she heard Julian’s wishes.

Julian was finally serious about things. Esther was also a woman, after all, and she’d always pitied Willow for putting in so much

of her effort without getting anything in return.

But now, with Julian’s interference, Zachary returned Willow’s deposit and refused to take up her case anymore. He even called

her up apologetically and offered to treat her to dinner instead.

Willow turned him down on his offer. It wasn’t because she was mad at him, but rather, she was too busy to ept it.

She told Annie bto /bcontact anotherwyer instead.

Annie held a napkin to her nose and said in a nasal voice, “None of thewyers in the whole of Brindley is willing to take up our

case. Ms. Harper, bI /bthink that Mr. Ziegler definitely had a role to y in this. Nobody else would have such power and influence

over them.”

Willow just smiled bitterly.

bIt /bseemed that Julian was hell–bent on making things hard for her.

She’d been married to him for four years, and yet, at the end of it all, she would still be walking away with nothing.

Nheless, Willow didn’t me Annie for it. She just told her to continue contacting morewyers. She was offering quite a

substantial amount for herwyer fees, after all. It would be a b2/bb% /bcut of the total value of her share of properties and assets she’d

get from the divorce.

Three dayster, Annie finally managed to find a youngwyer, Ned Quinton, who agreed to take them up on the case. So, Willow

decided to meet up with him and chat over a cup of coffee.

That afternoon, Willow set up the meeting at a luxurious cafe that had a sycamore tree shielding more than half of the cafe’s

floor–to–length windows, allowing only wisps of sun rays to shine through its mosaic of leaves into the interior of the cafe,

flooding it with a warm, golden hue.

Willow sat opposite Ned at a table. Just as she was about to take her documents out to start telling him about the case, Ned

suddenly got anxious and said, “I’m sorry, Mrs. Ziegler!”

Startled, Willow’s hand froze on the document holder as she looked at Ned in confusion.

Ned took a sip of his coffee and finally mustered enough courage to say, “It’s my fault for not knowing your real identity, Mrs.

Ziegler.”

He lowered his head in guilt and continued, “Honestly, Mrs. Ziegler, nobody in Bridley dares to take up your case because we

don’t have the guts to get on Mr. Ziegler’s wrong side nor make enemies of Neb Group. Also, there’s a high chance that you

might not even win this case.”

Then, he stood up and shook hands with Willow apologetically. “I’m very sorry that I can’t help you.”

Willow didn’t me him.

After all, everyone was only trying to look out for themselves. They had to survive, too.

Ned left, looking extremely remorseful. Willow figured that Julian must have taught him a lesson–using his wealth and power,

bof /bcourse.

Willow wasn’t in a hurry to get back, however.

She sat there in silence as she slowly finished the rest of her coffee.

Soon, a familiar voice sounded in her ears.

“Meeting up with someone?”

Willow looked up and saw that it was Jeffrey.
