leaving you bereft
Altar 54
It waste at night, but Willow wasn’t sleeping. She kept reying what Julian had said to her in her head.
He said that she was the only woman he had ever been with and that he wouldn’t see any other women. He said he would learn to be a good husband and told her to trust him.
Amidst the bright lights, Willow’s face was calm as she thought, “Can I really trust you again, Julian?”
Dark clouds were gathering outside the window, and thunder could be heard in the distance.
bFor /bthe next two days, Julian didn’t call her. Willow wanted to stay nonchnt, so she didn’t call him, either.
On the third morning, Willow woke up early. When she went downstairs to have breakfast, ir was stunned. “Are you going to the hospital to pay your grandmother a visit, Mrs. Ziegler?”
Willow took a sip of milk and smiled. “Julian ising back from a business trip, so I’m going to pick him up from the airport.”
ir was overjoyed. “You two are so lovey–dovey.”
Willow didn’t respond. Once she was done with breakfast, she drove to the airport herself.
Having been married for so many years, the two of them had a sort of silent understanding. Julian liked taking private flights at 7:00 am, so he would reach Brindley at around 9:00 am if he wasing from Yarrowmere. It was the perfect time for Willow to set off.
She was in quite a good mood. After getting in the car, she took her phone out to look at the QR code again. She was really looking forward to the concert.
After starting the car, she turned on the radio. The song “Melody” started ying, slowly flowing into the car and making Willow feel refreshed.
Willow focused on driving. She was on the highway when the sky suddenly turned gloomy. Dark clouds covered the sky of Brindley, and a few snowkes began falling, which shocked Willow. It was only the beginning of December, but it was already snowing.
Thankfully, it wasn’t snowing that heavily, so she arrived at the airport without any incident. Willow could have waited in the parking lot, but she gave it some thought and decided to get out of the car and wait at the exit. Julian said that he wanted to see her sooner, after all.
Willow had dressed up that day. She was wearing a white cashmere coat, and there was a pearl brooch with a lily of the valley on her cor, which made her look beautiful and elegant. She stood at the exit, patiently waiting for Julian to arrive.
When the clock struck nine, Julian wasn’t there.
When it was 9:15 am, Julian still didn’t show up. Willow figured he had probably run into some business problems, so she didn’t think much of it.
By the time it was 9:30 am, Willow still didn’t see him anywhere, so she called him.
However, his phone was off. She called him a few times, but all she got in response was the cold voice of the voicemail operator.
“Sorry. The number you have dialed is unavable.”
Willow tried calling Esther’s phone instead, but Esther was on a flight back to Brindley, so she couldn’t pick up. The same went for Julian and the othersb. /b
Willow couldn’t help but feel anxious. She told Annie to look into it, who called her after doing so.
“Neb doesn’t have any flights to Brindley today. Mr. Ziegler didn’t check into the flight that Esther is on, either.”
Did that mean Julian was still in Yarrowmere?
Willow just couldn’t rx. She used all her connections to investigate, but all she found out was that Julian had left Yarrowmere the night before, and his current whereabouts were unknown.
Unknown…
Willow gripped her phone, her fingers trembling uncontrobly. She thought of the ident that happened back then. At the time, she and Julian had nearly lost their lives. It wasn’t the first time something like this had happened.
Julian was the CEO of Neb Group, and if anything happened to him, the news couldn’t bget /bout. It would inevitably affect Neb Group’s bstocks/b.
Willow was terrified. She had to rush back to Brindley and talk to the Ziegler family about this. 1
Outside the airport, there was snow and ice as far as the beye /bcould see, Snow was falling heavily, and there were piles of it on the ground. Cars were prone to slipping, and the rows bof /bcars on the highway were moving as slowly as turtles.
