Legend of Wyatt
Chapter 2044: Demon Race
CHAPTER 2044: CHAPTER 2044: DEMON RACE
Almost simultaneously with the eerie voice, two minotaur creatures emitting black mist appeared in front of Oliver Watson.
At the same time, Oliver Watson noticed.
Apart from the dim sky and the blood moon, nothing else had changed. The surrounding witherwood had disappeared, and the desolate jungle was no longer there. He found himself in a barren valley.
The two creatures floating before him were each staring at him with a pair of blood-red eyes like giant copper gongs.
"You... what are you?"
Looking at the two creatures before him, Oliver Watson felt a shiver run down his spine. Both creatures seemed exceedingly dangerous.
And the demonic energy emanating from them was purer and more exaggerated than that from him, a ’Demon Cultivator’!
"Human?"
Upon hearing Oliver Watson’s words, the two creatures exchanged glances, each seeing astonishment and surprise in the other’s eyes.
"He... did he just say ’human’?"
One creature exclaimed excitedly.
"Yes."
The other creature became excited too, "Just now, when I was using ’enchantment magic’ on him, I realized his demonic energy was not pure... Turns out, he’s a human!"
"How can a human appear in our ’Exile Plane’? Could he possibly come from the ancient legend ’Holy Domain Plane’?"
"Ancient legend... besides the ’planes of heavens’ and other ’mundane planes’, the only place with humans adjacent to our ’Exile Plane’ in the same mundane plane is the ’Holy Domain Plane’!"
"But isn’t there a plane space barrier between our ’Exile Plane’ and the ’Holy Domain Plane’? Haven’t the strong ones in our ’Exile Plane’ been dreaming of breaking through it for hundreds of thousands of years without success?"
"Could it be... this human found a weak spot in the plane space barrier and traversed from the ’Holy Domain Plane’?"
...
The two minotaur creatures continued discussing as if no one was present, while their words left Oliver Watson utterly bewildered.
Planes of heavens, mundane planes, he’d heard of.
But he had never heard of any ’Exile Plane’, ’Holy Domain Plane’!
Of course, he vaguely realized:
The ’Holy Domain Plane’ mentioned by the minotaurs refers to the ’Martial Dao Sacred Land’ where he originally was.
Yet, he had never heard of this ’Exile Plane’ during his time in the Martial Dao Sacred Land!
"You are not human? Then what exactly are you?!"
Taking a deep breath, Oliver Watson mustered the courage to ask, fueled by his immense curiosity about the identity of these two creatures.
Judging by their tone, they were not human at all!
Moreover, Oliver Watson didn’t think they were ’Sacred Beasts’.
Generally speaking, Sacred Beasts would either be in beast form or human form, never appearing in such an eerie form.
This sort of minotaur creature was something he was seeing for the first time.
Not only was it the first time seeing them, but he had never even heard of such a humans-not-humans, beasts-not-beasts monster existing.
"He asked what we are?"
The two creatures began talking again:
"Could it be he hasn’t heard of ’demons’?"
"Probably hasn’t heard... Otherwise, he wouldn’t fail to recognize us as ’demons’."
"Can’t even recognize us as ’demons’... This means he certainly can’t recognize us as belonging to the ’Cow Demon Tribe’, right?"
"Indeed!"
The conversation between the two minotaur creatures clearly reached Oliver Watson’s ears, causing his complexion to change instantly.
"Demons? Are you from the Demon Race?"
Looking at the creatures again, Oliver Watson felt as if he’d seen a ghost, exclaiming: "If you are from the Demon Race... then, is this place possibly the mythic homeland of demons, the Exile Land we hear about in the Martial Dao Sacred Land?"
Oliver Watson learned of the rumors about the ’Exile Land’ from one of the White Tiger Altar’s texts from the Fire Worship Sect’s Four Symbols.
Apart from cultivating, Oliver Watson loved to delve into various ancient scrolls.
During his time in the White Tiger Altar, he read a very old scroll which described the ’Exile Land’.
It was said, long ago in the Martial Dao Sacred Land, a ’Human-Demon War’ broke out!
Back then, various ’Demon Races’ emerged from a realm unknown to people of the Martial Dao Sacred Land and invaded the land.
That era was known as the ’Era of Human Demons’!
The place from where those ’Demon Race’ emerged was called the ’Exile Land’!
During the Era of Human Demons, the human-demon war nearly turned the sky upside down.
Though humans eventually repelled the demon hordes, the Martial Dao Sacred Land underwent a massive upheaval, leading to the disappearance of countless powerful forces.
It was during this time that three major sects came into being!
And Demon Cultivators began to appear at this time.
The so-called Demon Cultivators are precisely some human Martial Artists and Taoist Cultivators who have mastered superficial demon cultivation methods.
As time passed, the demons retreated back to the ’Exile Land’ and no longer appeared. The peaceful days also gradually made the people of the Martial Dao Sacred Land forget the demons that once invaded their homeland.
Later, the Martial Dao Sacred Land was divided into two, known as the ’Upper Domain’ and the ’Lower Domain’.
At this time, everything related to the ’Exile Land’ and the ’demons’ was gradually forgotten by the world, only recorded in writings that exist within the three major sects.
"Legend has it... the reason the demons were able to invade the ’Martial Dao Sacred Land’ from the ’Exile Land’ back then was precisely because they spent millions of years setting up an earth-shattering ’Demon Array’, thereby breaking the space barrier between the ’Exile Land’ and the ’Martial Dao Sacred Land’!"
Oliver Watson recalled the written records he had seen in that tome.
"Later, the human-demon war broke out, the demons were defeated, and were driven back to the ’Exile Land’... Back then, powerful human figures also sacrificed their lives to arrange a grand formation to forcibly seal the breach of the space barrier!"
"If the demons want to make a comeback, it would take them at least hundreds of thousands to even millions of years to break the space barrier again... But since the ’Era of Human Demons’, only a mere hundred thousand years have passed!"
"So... have I been teleported to this demon-converged ’Exile Land’ by a malfunctioned ’cross-domain teleportation array’?"
Upon this thought, Oliver Watson’s face became extremely grim.
He never dreamed he would have such an unlucky day!
To him, the Exile Land was not a good place to be.
"Martial Dao Sacred Land?"
At the same time, two creatures with bull heads and humanoid bodies also heard Oliver Watson’s exclamation and once again looked at him.
"The Martial Dao Sacred Land is said to be the ’main continent’ of the Holy Domain Plane!"
"It seems he indeed came from the ’Holy Domain Plane’... If we take him back to the tribe, our Cow Demon Tribe might be able to find the ’passage’ to enter the Holy Domain Plane through him!"
"According to legend, the Holy Domain Plane is very prosperous, not only having a hundredfold, thousandfold better cultivation environment than our ’Exile Plane’, but also having countless resources of Holy Stone mines!"
The two creatures discussed here, their eyes brightening as they looked at Oliver Watson.
Almost as soon as they finished speaking, Oliver Watson began to move, attempting to escape.
However, he only took a few steps before being caught by one of the creatures, like an eagle capturing a chick.
The difference in power between them was simply not on the same level!
Either of the two creatures had robust bodies standing three meters tall, one of the creatures lifting Oliver Watson as if he were a light piece of cargo while walking.
"Let’s go! Take him back to the tribe."
Subsequently, the two creatures took the defenseless Oliver Watson away.
Judging from their previous dialogue, they were evidently members of the Cow Demon Tribe within the Demon Race, two ’Cow Demons’!
"Wyatt Barnes, I’m afraid I won’t have the chance to send you a warning message..."
As he was captured by the two Cow Demons, Oliver Watson resigned himself to death. Recalling Wyatt Barnes’ ’instructions’, his heart was filled with helplessness.
Now, he only hoped Wyatt Barnes could himself go to the ’Lower Domain’ of the Martial Dao Sacred Land to warn his family.
Of course, he knew that was almost impossible.
As it is said, ’misfortunes never come singly’.
While Oliver Watson was being taken back to the Cow Demon Tribe in the ’Exile Plane’ by two Cow Demons.
The first Elder Silver Flame of the Black Tortoise Altar, one of the Four Symbols Altars of the Fire Worship Sect, Maximus Lee, also brought the person arranged for him by the Fifth Elder Russel Yorke of the North Qizong to the ’Lower Domain’ of the Martial Dao Sacred Land.
"Greetings, lords!"
The ’caretaker’ of the Martial Dao Sacred Land, upon seeing the aggressive Maximus Lee and his company, hurriedly bowed respectfully.
He was only a ’Heavenly Saint Realm’ Martial Artist.
The group in front of him, even the weakest among them, were all existences above the ’Saint Immortal Realm’.
As someone who came from a prestigious power in the Upper Domain of the Martial Dao Sacred Land and had seen the world, he could clearly sense this point.
"Have you seen this person?"
Maximus Lee raised his hand, revealing a portrait.
The portrait depicted a handsome young man.
The person depicted was exactly what ’Wyatt Barnes’ looked like after his disguise, during his time in the Fire Worship Sect.
"He most likely comes from the ’Lower Domain’ of the Martial Dao Sacred Land... If he is from the Lower Domain, he must have appeared before you; do you find him familiar?"
As Maximus Lee asked in a deep voice, his aura also surged out, pressing down on the caretaker of the Martial Dao Sacred Land’s Lower Domain, turning his face pale, but he still shook his head, "I’ve never seen him."
And he was indeed telling the truth.
"His name is ’Wyatt Barnes’... Are you sure you haven’t seen him?"
Maximus Lee asked again.
"Wyatt Barnes?"
Upon hearing this name, the caretaker was startled again, with a look of surprise and doubt flashing in his eyes.
