Chapter 422: The Discovery of a Safe House, The Disk in the Hotel
CHAPTER 422: CHAPTER 422: THE DISCOVERY OF A SAFE HOUSE, THE DISK IN THE HOTEL
"High explosives?!"
Mrs. Hanover furrowed her brows as she looked at the information on Mona’s computer, then turned her head to Luo An and asked in a serious tone:
"Who exactly is Gai Leite? And who are you?"
Normal people wouldn’t use the term ’safe house’, nor would they have any connections with high explosives.
At the same time, lights suddenly blazed in the distance at the villa, and the roaring sounds of several cars emerged from afar. Mrs. Hanover’s security personnel had finally found the place.
"What exactly is Mr. Gai Leite’s identity? It might be more appropriate for him to answer that question.
As for me, I’m just an ordinary private investigator."
Luo An responded with a smile to Mrs. Hanover, then patted Mona and Caroline on the shoulders, urging them to quickly pack up their computer and belongings and run to the Bentley Continental parked outside.
Mrs. Hanover was about to ask something else, but Luo An picked up the unfinished bottle of Patrus wine, priced at one hundred thousand dollars, from the table, quickly walked to the Bentley Continental, waved to her with a smile, and said:
"The wine was good, thank you for your hospitality. Goodbye, Mrs. Hanover."
After finishing his words, Luo An jumped into the driver’s seat of the Bentley Continental, and the next second, the car let out a fierce roar like a black panther, cleverly maneuvering through the swarm of cars surrounding them, and left the area in the blink of an eye.
"Damn it!"
The security manager, leading a large group of men who had finally found the place, looked extremely displeased.
The butler who had arrived at the scene waved his hand to signal him to pursue and quickly ran to Mrs. Hanover’s side, asking anxiously:
"Madam, are you alright?"
"I’m fine."
Watching the gradually disappearing car lights in the distance, Mrs. Hanover’s lips curled up slightly, and she turned to return to the interior of the villa, saying:
"No need to chase them, have everyone come back."
The butler’s eyebrows furrowed slightly, but he did not object. Mrs. Hanover thought for a moment, then mentioned Gai Leite and Caroline’s names to the butler and said:
"Figure out the relationship between them. Also, Gai Leite has disappeared, look into that."
"Very well, Madam."
In the distance, the Bentley Continental weaved left and right on the road, quickly losing the trailing cars.
Caroline, in the passenger’s seat, showed no concern or fear because she still wasn’t used to Luo An’s style of driving. At the moment, she was using a bag prepared by Luo An for her to vomit into.
After throwing up several times, Caroline, pale-faced, looked up and asked:
"Luo An, aren’t you worried that Mrs. Hanover’s investigation into my father’s disappearance will startle the snake out of the grass?"
"That’s exactly what I want her to do."
Luo An gently patted Caroline’s back. Mrs. Hanover was a wealthy and well-connected aristocrat, capable of uncovering certain things if she so wished.
Even if it did startle the snake out of the grass, she had the ability and assurance to protect herself. Luo An and the others didn’t have that kind of power, so it was perfect to stay behind Mrs. Hanover to hide and ensure their own safety while seeing who else would be disturbed.
Glancing at Caroline, Mona, sitting in the back seat and holding her laptop, asked with a stern expression:
"Our safe house has been blown up, and the trail has gone cold. We probably won’t get any clues from Mrs. Hanover’s side for a while. Luo An, what do we do next?"
"We head back to the hotel first, then I’ll go take a look at the ruins to see if there’s anything to discover."
Luo An replied casually, then parked the Bentley Continental on a Vienna street corner. The two women immediately got out and headed towards a nearby alley according to the original plan.
Luo An got out of the car, walked to the back of the Bentley Continental, and opened the trunk, where, at that moment, there was a middle-aged Caucasian man with a large nose, bound and gagged, wearing white undershirt.
He was the car’s original driver, and seeing Luo An’s face, his eyes widened and he began to make muffled noises.
"Stop shouting."
Luo An took off the suit jacket that originally belonged to the man and threw it back to him, smiling:
"The car isn’t bad, it’s just running out of gas. Remember to fill it up later."
After speaking, Luo An took out a dagger and threw it to the man, then turned and walked towards a nearby alley.
At the end of the alley, there was a car already prepared, and Mona and Caroline waited a moment. Luo An got into the driver’s seat, started the car, and left the place.
The car slowly pulled up next to the hotel, Caroline ran out of the car covering her mouth again, and Luo An gave her a speechless look, then turned back to Mona and said:
"Go back to the room first and check your father’s spending records again to see if there are any other clues.
I’ll go check out that safe house, and come back later."
"OK."
Mona walked out of the car holding her laptop, and Luo An stepped on the gas, driving the car towards the other side of the city of Vienna.
Ten minutes later, Luo An arrived at the safe house, only to find the scene there completely different from the one in the picture.
Not only had the bricks and debris been cleared away, but reconstruction had already begun, and the building materials were all ready.
"..."
Luo An wandered around with a face full of speechlessness, not finding anything useful, and also not like the last time at the piano store, where he noticed someone watching the place.
About to leave, Luo An suddenly spotted a locked house diagonally across from the safe house, in the most ideal position to surveil it.
After pondering for a few seconds, Luo An moved to the back of that house, looked inside through the glass, and keenly noticed that there were some hair-thin fine wires at the windows and doors.
A glint flashed in his eyes, and after activating "Emotional Perception" and noticing no signs of anyone inside, Luo An immediately climbed into the room and quickly found a hidden chamber in the ordinary-looking basement.
In the secret chamber were some dusty weapons and bullets, some photos and papers were stuck on the wall, and there was a computer that wouldn’t turn on because it was out of power.
"Another fan of nested dolls."
Luo An chuckled, found a pocket to store everything, and took all the items back to the hotel.
As soon as he got back to the hotel room and before Luo An could speak, Mona, who was sitting with Caroline, suddenly looked up and said loudly:
"Luo An, I’ve found a new clue!"
Luo An set aside the items he had just found and walked over to Mona to ask:
"What clue?"
Mona indicated that Caroline had just realized from Javari’s spending records that every time he went to the hotel with Mrs. Hanover, it was the day after he made a phone call to Caroline.
Javari would not explain to Caroline what his tasks were each time, but he would say he was preparing for a business trip.
Mona hacked into the hotel’s system and checked the records, finding that under normal circumstances Javari would use his own identification to book rooms, but the day before each business trip, the rooms would be booked under the name of Mrs. Hanover, and Javari would handle storage services at the hotel.
"Mona, can you use the voice of that hotel manager to splice together a few sentences?"
Mona was taken aback for a moment, then nodded in realization:
"No problem!"
Once Mona was ready, Luo An took out his phone and called the hotel manager, claiming to be the regional manager of a multinational company, preparing to book a banquet at the hotel, and cordially discussed with the manager whether the hotel had the time to host it.
Two hours later, using the edited audio spliced by Mona to mimic the hotel manager’s voice, the hotel reception accepted Luo An as Javari’s secretary and led Luo An into the hotel’s semi-basement, handing over the items Javari had stored to him.
The items were not large, just a disk inside a box. Mona used a drive to open the disk, and after a moment she said uncertainly:
"Luo An, the contents of the disk, and that computer you brought back, they both contain my father’s recently received new assignments.
But the content of the two files is very different... no, the content is roughly the same, but the logic before and after is completely different, you could say they are completely opposite!"
