Legendary FBI Detective
Chapter 627: The Mastermind Behind the Case
FBI Washington Headquarters, Investigation Team No. 13's office area, an interrogation room.
Hasim said that he had hidden the videos and photos in a laptop, and Luo An sent Reesi and Winslow to retrieve the laptop, then asked:
"What exactly is going on with this bombing case?"
"I don't know!"
The big-nosed Hasim Ried was sitting on a chair, constantly scratching his head, and said:
"A few months ago, Elaine got out of jail and stayed with me for a while.
Not long after, he said he brought in a business deal. The client was a mixed-race young man who was looking for someone to make a bomb for him.
After the bomb was made, Elaine gave me 5000 US Dollars and asked me to deliver the bomb to a designated location according to the client's request.
But I was too scared to go myself, so I gave 100 US Dollars to a guy who was a courier and had him deliver the stuff."
"..." x2
The interrogation room was quiet for a few seconds, and then Chenier said somewhat speechlessly:
"From 5000 US Dollars to 100 US Dollars, you're quite greedy."
"That's the fair price."
Hasim chuckled and showed several large white teeth:
"That's how middlemen operate."
Luo An poured himself a cup of coffee, took a sip, and then asked:
"What exactly is in the videos and photos you mentioned?"
"It's Elaine talking to a black guy I don't recognize."
Hasim licked his lips as he looked at the coffee in Luo An's hand and explained:
"I don't know who that black guy is. You can watch the specific content of their discussion later.
Then the black guy gave Elaine a small cardboard box, and later Elaine handed that small box over to me to deliver to that company together."
Chenier's expression tightened; she instantly recalled the small cardboard box found at the bombing site containing a piece of paper with Luo An's name, which was the one Hasim was talking about.
Luo An's eyes narrowed slightly, he took out the photo of the black man and woman he had arrested yesterday, and pushed the photo of the black man towards Hasim, asking:
"Is it him?"
"That's right! It's this guy!"
Seeing the black man in the photo, Hasim nodded continuously and said:
"Elaine calls the guy Mike, probably someone he met in prison."
Chenier frowned deeply, Luo An thought for a moment, then continued to ask:
"Where is that mixed-race young man now?"
"I don't know."
Hasim shook his head, indicating that from beginning to end, Elaine was responsible for contacting and managing this matter, he never got involved, and the other party didn't allow him to either.
"Are you sure?"
Chenier sneered and asked with her head raised:
"You live together with Elaine, can you really not know anything about these matters?"
"Listen, pretty woman, I didn't lie to you, OK?"
Hasim looked at Chenier with a displeased face and explained:
"First, I don't give Elaine free lodging here; he has to pay rent. He's paid that money, and when he asks me for favors, he has to give me Franklin.
Second, we're black, not like your kind of white people.
For black people to live smoothly, the most important rules are not to be curious, not to ask too many questions, not to meddle too much. Just take the money and follow rules and instructions. Do you understand?"
This kind of thing was not uncommon in federal cases, and it also involved racial discrimination issues, so Chenier didn't say much more. Luo An, however, remained composed and continued to ask a few questions.
Just then, there was a sudden knock on the door, and the interrogation room door was opened; Michelle poked half her body in:
"Team leader, there's a situation."
The interrogation paused, and Luo An stepped out of the room with Chenier. After the door closed, Luo An asked:
"What's going on?"
Michelle gestured toward the office area not far away and replied:
"Mona has confirmed the identities of the black couple."
As Luo An walked towards the office area, he asked:
"What are their names and identities?"
"The black male is named Joan, 31 years old, and the black female is named Lisa, 33 years old."
Mona swiveled her chair around, showing Luo An the computer screen, and said with a grave expression:
"Luo An, this is a case of revenge."
Hearing the word revenge, Chenier's face suddenly turned ugly. Luo An leaned over, his gaze fixed on the computer, and asked:
"What exactly happened?"
"Remember the case on the island before our investigation team came to Washington Headquarters? (Chapter 514)"
Mona handed a folder to Chenier and explained:
"The mastermind behind that case was an arms dealer named Hale Rick.
Hale Rick had hoped to execute a perfect plan: take revenge and kill Minister Alexander; pin the blame on the arms dealer Hamidun; kill his rival, arms dealer Hamidun; and, at the same time, obtain the [FBI and CIA lists] from the head of a criminal group, Jesper's brain.
But Luo An's intervention led to the complete failure of Hale Rick's plan."
"We also caught him and brought him back to Washington D.C."
Chenier nodded; she could never forget the fight on the island. However, she had another question that she did not understand:
"I remember Hale Rick was a white man, and most of his mercenaries were also white.
What's the connection between him and the black couple Joan and Lisa? Could it be that Hale Rick has escaped from prison?"
"No, Hale Rick is still sitting in a dark cell somewhere."
Mona shook her head, then with a sneer, added:
"Just because arms dealers Hamidun and Hale Rick were caught doesn't mean the underground arms market has vanished.
On the contrary, since their arrests, the underground arms market has been more active than ever, with incessant conflicts.
Among them, a woman named Sarls has risen unexpectedly, defeating many involved in the underground arms market and taking a large share for herself.
The CIA's investigation shows that Sarls' mother was a very beautiful black woman, and her father is Hale Rick!"
"Wow."
Chenier found Sarls' photo and even her eyes lit up, letting out a sigh of appreciation involuntarily.
Due to her mixed heritage, Sarls' skin wasn't particularly dark, but her features were very distinct, easily attracting attention even without makeup.
Not only that, but Sarls also had the advantages of black women, with an excellent body proportion. One look at her and you'd notice either her long legs or her towering presence.
And because she was involved in the underground arms industry, Sarls carried a sharpness about her that was intangible, surpassing many Hollywood actresses.
Chenier closed the folder, her eyes narrowed, and said:
"It looks like the couple Joan and Lisa are underlings of Sarls, and Sarls can't wait to take revenge for her father, that's why she's targeting Luo An."
As Chenier finished speaking, Luo An, who hadn't said much, pointed at the information on the computer and said in a calm tone:
"The records show that in that case, Hamidun's operatives who were fugitives have been taken care of by people sent by Sarls.
The head of the criminal group Jesper, after being captured, his power greatly diminished, the main heads of the organization were taken out by Sarls, and the rank and file were recruited by her.
As for the families of Hamidun and Jesper, they were all sent to hell by Sarls.
Having dealt with both waves of major enemies, Sarls' target is naturally only me, the one who put her father in prison."
"Fu-k!"
"Son of a bitch!"
Hearing Luo An's words, Chenier's face turned pale, Mona's expression turned sour, and Michelle furrowed her brow, not knowing what to say.
At that moment, Reesi pushed the door open and entered the office area, saying loudly:
"Everyone! I've figured out the situation behind this case!"
