Legendary FBI Detective
Chapter 778 - 780: Factions, Promotion, Teaching
CHAPTER 778: CHAPTER 780: FACTIONS, PROMOTION, TEACHING
Luo An had doubts, but still gave a brief overview of the interrogation record.
After listening to Luo An’s description, Mr. Clement slowly closed his eyes, falling silent.
In the distant villa, a few trace examination agents were entering the property searching for clues; several FBI agents were escorting Thomas into an ambulance, preparing to head to the hospital;
Mr. Clement’s secretary was coordinating the scene, appearing quite busy, but after observing for a few seconds it was unclear exactly what kept him so occupied, as if busy for the sake of being busy.
Only two people were in the car, Mr. Clement sitting in the back seat deep in thought with his eyes closed, while Luo An, seated in the driver’s seat feeling somewhat bored, started to think about how he would rest after the case concluded.
As time ticked by, moment by moment, and the trace examination agents had all left, Mr. Clement suddenly spoke:
"Luo An, who do you think owns this federal nation?"
Luo An’s mouth twitched, and he subconsciously wanted to say "the capitalists," but still suppressed that comment, chuckling instead:
"The Federation is a nation of free democracy, belonging to citizens with ballots."
After saying this, Luo An felt somewhat sickened, yet due to the deep and tangled issues behind it, with Mr. Clement making no statement, Luo An feared he couldn’t grasp the full scope, thus he offered up a piece of politically correct nonsense with an innocent face.
Mr. Clement opened his eyes, smiled slightly, and changed to a slightly more direct question:
"What do you think? Who is leading the Federation, the Jews or the Angsa people?"
Luo An’s eyelids twitched. The status of Jews in the Federation went without saying; they were the driving force behind almost all major media.
Through decades of public opinion propaganda, they had successfully cast themselves as the most tragic victims of World War II.
But those who knew the true state of affairs, the intrinsic and inheritable flaws of Jewish character could not be forever hidden; the inevitable outcome would ultimately reveal itself, as paper cannot contain fire.
As to whether the Jews or the Angsa people dominated the Federation, it was a level Luo An had not yet reached, and thus he didn’t have particular insight into these matters.
However, just because Luo An was unaware didn’t mean others were clueless. For instance, across the ocean, the Federation’s long-time hypothetical adversary had never ceased their vigilance.
Luo An remembered the spokesperson of the country across the ocean once claiming that the upper echelons of the Federation Government, in conjunction with some nations, were "forming a little Angsa circle."
They didn’t say "a little Jewish circle," and with these thoughts flashing rapidly through his mind, Luo An replied softly:
"I think it’s the latter, Director."
"Good."
Mr. Clement nodded slightly, adding:
"Luo An, one of the rules of the Federation’s game is to choose a camp and serve your own camp.
Apart from the two parties, there are many other camps. Even within the two parties, there are many camps.
You haven’t reached this step yet because I’ve been in front, and there was no need for you to contemplate these.
But after this case is resolved, you will need to carefully consider these issues."
Luo An’s brows slightly furrowed, keenly picking up on the issues embedded in Mr. Clement’s words, he smiled and said:
"Congratulations on the promotion to the Department of Justice, Director."
Mr. Clement gave a gentle smile. The FBI-CIA list disappearance case, the former NSA Director’s radiation poisoning case, the lost nuclear warhead case, the arms dealer case, the cursed jewels case, and the serial murder case involving the National Assembly Chairman...
What Luo An witnessed was the assassin itself, and what he gained was a rapid promotion and swift increase in wealth; while Mr. Clement saw the story behind the assassin, and what he gained was the political deals behind the cases.
Mr. Clement’s quick promotion was inseparable from these cases handled by Luo An.
Therefore, Mr. Clement was very gentle at this moment, worried that Luo An might not understand the underlying implications, speaking much more directly than before, he whispered:
"In this case, the Integrity and Rules Office’s director and his secretary will undoubtedly be dealt with by the Director."
"Some reasons have prompted Director Robert not to transfer this department to anyone else; the newly appointed director is likely to be a Jew or someone of Jewish descent."
Luo An nodded in understanding. Compared to the FBI’s local branches, which mainly focus on case handling, the FBI’s Washington Headquarters is more like a department primarily concerned with political affairs.
Although Director Robert of the FBI seems to have a lofty position, in reality... he does indeed hold a significant rank.
However, Director Robert cannot escape from things like political balance and exchange of interests, nor does he have the means to.
Luo An understood the underlying message of Mr. Clement’s words and, realizing that he had been positioned against the Jewish Camp due to this case, asked:
"Sir, after your promotion to the Department of Justice, which official will be responsible for the FBI’s work?"
Mr. Clement’s promotion is good news, meaning that Luo An would have a strong supporter in the Department of Justice in the future.
However, the vacancy left by Mr. Clement’s promotion here at the FBI Washington Headquarters is also a major issue.
Vireness doesn’t have sufficient experience and cannot take that position. If her replacement comes from the opposing camp, things may become much more troublesome in the days to come.
"You don’t need to worry about this matter."
Mr. Clement, with a smile, patted Luo An on the shoulder without elaborating, simply asking him to relax.
Without waiting for Luo An to speak, Mr. Clement continued:
"Remember the rules of the game I just mentioned. Don’t take the middle ground, don’t betray your original camp. One betrayal means there will be a second.
You should remember to visit that private club at Massachusetts Institute of Technology more often in the future and make more friends.
As for the new head of the Integrity and Rules Office, you don’t need to be overly confrontational with them, just interact normally."
Mr. Clement’s words implied much. The first part told Luo An to follow the game rules.
The middle part suggested that the people in that club and Mr. Clement himself likely belong to the same camp—the Angsa people.
The last part advised Luo An to not openly antagonize Jews; it is standard practice for a federal politician to have one set of behaviors in front and another behind.
Flashes of understanding crossed Luo An’s mind, and he smiled and nodded:
"No problem, sir, I’ve remembered it all."
"Very Good."
Seeing Luo An grasp the point instantly, Mr. Clement showed a slight smile and nodded with great satisfaction.
After changing the topic and making light conversation for a bit, Mr. Clement asked Luo An to move to the passenger seat, then gestured for his secretary to get into the car, having Luo An drive them back to the FBI Washington Headquarters.
Secretary: "..."
Now that the direct perpetrator of this case had been captured, what followed were procedural tasks. Similar to previous cases, Luo An handed them over to Michelle to lead the team in handling.
As for what exactly Thomas had done when he hired an assassin in the past, Luo An didn’t know what means Mr. Clement used, but Thomas had confessed that very night, and the secretary brought a part of the interrogation record to Luo An.
The interrogation record showed that Thomas had an illegitimate child who, in a car accident, accidentally killed someone. The victim demanded a high compensation from the illegitimate child and was about to press charges to send him to jail.
After several failed private discussions, to secure his child’s future, Thomas went to a "Skull Flower" hired gun and sent all of the victim’s family to Heaven.
This illegitimate child then graduated smoothly and entered a world-class company to work, now having become a supervisor manager.
"Son of a bitch!"
"What a bastard raised by nurturing!"
Having read this part of the interrogation record, Reesi, Winslow, and Chenier couldn’t contain their anger and cursed vociferously, and both Mona and Michelle also looked very displeased.
Luo An, however, wasn’t concerned about these details. His gaze shifted to the television at the front of the office area, which was broadcasting a piece of news that at the moment, many people weren’t paying much attention to.
