Legendary FBI Detective
Chapter 814 816: Only More Equal
The death of Murari Roberts in the Jewish camp shocked them quite a bit. After reacting, they immediately decided...
The investigation is not urgent; it's more important to handle internal affairs first.
Even though Murari Roberts is deceased, his position within the camp still exists. The position cannot remain unoccupied for long, triggering a game of open and covert struggle.
Regarding the investigation, they shared the same idea as the opposing camp. Taking the documents from the safe, it's unlikely they will be kept forever; later, they will definitely be used in a transaction.
As long as the other party decides to make a transaction, with the Jewish camp's pervasive capabilities, they can definitely detect it at the first instance, then decide based on the situation whether to intervene and intercept.
Even if the other party doesn't belong to any camp, just an ordinary citizen planning to leak to the media, the Jewish camp is not worried. Over seventy percent of the Federation's outlets are under their control, and they have the confidence to intercept the other party in advance.
Compared to these, the distribution and inheritance of the position and political legacy left by Murari Roberts are more important to them.
Jews indeed treat everyone equally; it's just that some people are more equal than others.
For example, in that country, where everyone is Jewish, ordinary citizens must perform military service, going to the battlefield as Teletubbies; whereas the Harried people are exempt from military service, spending their lives studying scriptures, enjoying life, and creating future generations.
Because their fathers have already strived; if they strive as well, it renders their fathers' efforts meaningless.
Each camp has its own plans, and the arson case at Roberts' villa was surprisingly unclaimed for a while, eventually being handed over to the usually irrelevant Washington D.C. police department.
As the police department in the political heart of the Federation, their operational capability might be average, but their ability to choose sides is undoubtedly top-notch.
Seeing that none of the major departments were taking on this case, the D.C. police department decisively promised the media that they would not give up, vowing to uncover the truth and uphold the Federation's liberty, democracy, and noble laws!
However, prior to this, the police department's investigative budget was continuously shrinking, causing a decline in resources and making the investigation of this case potentially lengthy. They hoped the public would understand, and any financial assistance would be most welcome...
"These police are simply unbelievable."
The next day, in a villa living room in Washington D.C., watching the D.C. police chief speak eloquently on TV, Mona curled up on the couch with a doll, her head full of black lines, and muttered:
"The low crime-solving rate is due to lack of funds, leading to a shortage of equipment; police brutality is because of funding issues, leading to unpaid salaries and bad tempers... Lack of funds sure is a universal excuse."
"Yeah, yeah."
Beside her, Reesi, Chenier, and Michelle were also squeezed on the couch, holding dolls, snacking while watching TV.
As Mona finished speaking, Reesi put down her snack bag, licked her fingers, and joined in the complaints with a look of disdain:
"I've seen D.C. police on several occasions, using the excuse of suspecting someone of carrying illegal items, to frisk female tourists visiting the district when I was out shopping.
One time a guy even tried to stop me, and had I not flashed my golden FBI badge, he would have surely tried something that day."
"The quality of some D.C. police officers is indeed not high."
Michelle pushed up her glasses, seriously analyzed:
"However, it's true that the D.C. police department's budget has been declining yearly; compared to the last century, in recent years their budget has decreased by almost one fifteenth.
Moreover, this trend shows no signs of stopping, and continues to escalate; I feel that in a few years, those officers might drastically reduce headcount, even cutting salaries."
Reesi and Mona showed slight reactions, Chenier put down her snacks and asked with a frown:
"What about us at the FBI? Will our budget be reduced too?"
Among the four women on the couch, Michelle was the most informed on current affairs due to her reading habits, and Mona and the others trusted her analysis.
"It's possible."
Michelle nodded, then shifted her tone with a smile:
"But we don't have to worry. With Group Leader Luo An around, even if our Special Investigation Team's salary decreases a bit, it won't matter."
"Indeed!"
Chenier's worry vanished instantly, as she began to laugh. Reesi also chuckled, wrapping an arm around Mona's shoulder, asking:
"Where is Luo An? Why haven't we seen him today? Did you quarrel, and kicked him out of the villa?"
"Get your hand off; there are still snack crumbs on it!"
Mona rolled her eyes at Reesi, wriggled to push her off, and replied casually:
"Luo An went to New York Wall Street; he has investments there. Since he's free these days, he went to check things out."
"Luo An has investments on Wall Street?"
Reesi's eyes lit up, she immediately got a napkin to clean her hands, hugged Mona's arm tightly with excitement:
"What stocks did he invest in? Did you follow along? Can you let me in on it?"
Before joining Luo An and Mona on the Special Investigation Team in Los Angeles, Reesi had sought Luo An's investment advice, bought some stocks, and made a decent profit.
Since then, Reesi has been incredibly faith in Luo An's acumen, and Luo An purchased stocks in companies like Apple, Amazon, among other internet firms. Although Reesi had more confidence in real industries and didn't quite understand the internet, she gritted her teeth and followed, investing two-thirds of her funds.
Soon after, Reesi saw her stocks climb steadily in value, earning a significant amount in just two years, and her faith in Luo An grew tremendously. It's no exaggeration to say, if Luo An dares to recommend, Reesi dares to go all in!
Next to them, Chenier and Michelle, upon hearing their conversation, also turned their heads thoroughly interested, looking at Mona.
After joining Luo An's team, and based on Reesi's real-life evidence, they too bought some stocks.
Even though they entered the market a bit late, they still made a substantial amount, which made them admire Luo An even more.
Faced with the eager eyes of the three women, Mona's mouth twitched. Although she knew they were not interested in Luo An himself, but in his insight, she nonetheless felt a sense of unease, like a personal toy being admired by others.
Shaking these mixed thoughts out of her head, Mona spread her hands and explained:
"Sorry, I'm not really familiar with Luo An's investments on Wall Street, only know that it's very high entry-level."
"Then forget it."
Hearing Mona's explanation, Reesi immediately dropped the idea, while Michelle and Chenier also shook their heads and refrained from further inquiry. The girls chatted a bit more and once the sun started to dip and the temperature outside dropped, they changed clothes and went out for some shopping and dining together.
Meanwhile, in a café not far from New York Wall Street, deep inside, Luo An was sitting calmly enjoying a cup of cappuccino.
Seated across from him, a person in a suit with dark circles under their eyes, had already downed three cups of coffee; it was none other than the manager helping Luo An handle CDS financial products, Michael Brey.
"Those damned bastards!"
"They truly are sons of bitches!"
"Bullshit! Who knows what those people are thinking!"
Michael Brey kept saying words of greeting while drinking coffee continuously, trembling with anger.
As time ticked by, Michael Brey finally quieted down, Luo An waved a server over to take the cups and looked at Michael Brey, smiling:
"Finished venting?"
Michael Brey let out a long sigh, somewhat surprised as he looked at Luo An, hoarsely asked:
"Luo An, you aren't angry? Those people are lying, they're manipulating the Federal housing prices with deceit!"
