Chapter 23: Opening the Gate of Crimson Heart
CHAPTER 23: OPENING THE GATE OF CRIMSON HEART
Since Liu Wei still has the mood to cultivate, knowing he has to reach the peak of the Qi Condensation Stage to have sufficient amount of Qi to refine pills as many times as possible, Liu Wei decided to open the first primary Demon Gates.
The Gate of the Crimson Heart.
Opening the Gate of Crimson Heart would also benefit him with the Blood Pulse Breathing.
A breathing technique synchronizing the heartbeat and qi flow, instantly changing the qi into the blood seamlessly.
Normally, even an average cultivator, he would need resources in opening the gate.
In fact, in every cultivation session, there should be resources.
Pills, rich in specific qi environments, and more.
However, Liu Wei did not need it.
All he needed was a breathing technique from the Blood Demonheart Sutra.
Even then, his attempt was extremely rare and dangerous because normally essence blood alone wasn’t enough without external support.
He also had to successfully open the first gate.
Failing to do so provides heavy consequences.
If he succeeded, he might have to wait for two days to attempt opening the next gate.
After all, the link between the dantian and the gate should be stabilized first and that required time.
Without hesitation, Liu Wei did not take a rest and continued cultivating, attempting to open the first gate.
He closed his eyes once again and remained sitting in the cross-legged position.
He felt his legs numb after not changing his position for almost a day now of cultivating.
Even then, he did not plan to take a rest.
To open the first gate, he must execute the Blood Pulse Breathing technique.
He had to pour all his concentration to maintain the breathing technique.
Once the gate opened, he did not need to do so in the future.
He inhaled deeply until his lungs were full—inhaling all the qi, compressing them, and turning them into blood.
He exhaled slowly through his teeth, pushing the qi through veins.
He counted his heartbeat.
He would breathe in every thirty-six heart beats, keeping qi flowing like pulsating waves.
It warmed up his Demon Chains to prevent tearing and started to soften the Gate of Crimson Heart.
Once he mastered the breathing cycle a minute later and was now able to leave a bit of his consciousness, he focused on his Blood Dantian.
He spun the Blood Dantian to generate Blood Qi Vortex, forcing the vortex to pulse in rhythm with the heart.
Every beat sent a shockwave through the chains.
As a result, the Blood Qi became thicker and heavier, like molten iron.
Then, he bit his tongue and spat out the three drops of essence blood.
The essence blood levitated in mid-air.
Liu Wei did not need to open his eyes, perceiving its presence, as he grabbed them with his hand.
He then pushed them into his lower abdomen, as they entered inside as though it was intangible.
It entered straight through his Blood Dantian.
The essence blood contained demonic qi, as it was then pushed by the vortex to the Gate of the Crimson Heart, creating a blood mark seal.
The Gate of the Crimson Heart wavered.
After all, it recognized the blood by the owner, instantly softening the gate.
Now that it was softened, Liu Wei recited the First Seal Mantra of the Blood Demon Heart Sutra silently.
"Blood is life, chains are the path, the heart beats for slaughter."
He then entered the Demon Will Meditation.
Suddenly, he found himself in the vast expanse of a bleak place.
He stood atop of the ocean of blood.
With an indifferent expression, he swept his gaze forward, staring at the enormous crimson door with black chains.
He mumbled, "So this is the Gate of the Crimson Heart?"
Locating the Gate of Crimson Heart was by no means easy.
Having difficulty in searching for their meridian points was what every cultivator faced.
Thankfully, the Blood Qi Vortex assisted him to locate the Gate of the Crimson Heart, as it also reacted when it was struck by the essence of blood.
The blood mark seal also locked its location.
As he stared at the enormous crimson door, Liu Wei suddenly raised his hand and a massive blood-forged hammer manifested.
It contained all his will—his desire to break the door.
In fact... it was filled with killing intent and demonic qi.
He did not even realize that the blood-forged hammer, with its size, conveyed his demonic nature, slowly being shaped by the Demonheart Origin Body.
He raised the blood-forged hammer and smashed it to the door.
Outside of his visualization, the Blood Qi produced by his Blood Dantian compressed into one surge, forcing itself into the Gate of Crimson Heart, syncing its movements with Liu Wei.
The Gate of Crimson Heart was located in the Tangzhong Point—at the chest center.
It resisted like an iron wall, but under the persistent smashing of Liu Wei, cracks began to manifest and spread throughout, not only in the Thangzong Point, but also the black chains in his visualization.
Once the black chains disintegrated into ashes, the crimson door glowed crimson, eventually affecting the place.
Vegetations began to appear, but they all consisted of blood.
Liu Wei felt strange by their presence but not uncomfortable.
The Gate of Crimson Heart then opened and what was inside seemed to be a portal filled with blood.
He crossed the other side and found himself, staring at the black space.
Of course, he was now back to his previous position, where he was closing his eyes.
Knowing that the gate has been opened, he immediately cycles qi gently inside—from Blood Dantian and into the gate repeatedly.
He used the Blood Pulse Breathing for 108 breaths to stabilize.
After the 108 breaths, the Gate of Crimson Heart stabilized.
However, the Blood Demonheart Sutra warned him of the side effects of opening the Gate of Crimson Heart...
He abruptly opened his eyes.
His eyes then turned bloodshot, blurring his vision.
His crimson veins began to protrude from his skin, and his body trembled uncontrollably.
His muscles surged with strength, inducing him to be invincible.
He growled and panted.
Killing intent began to emanate from him, spreading on his surroundings.
He mumbled.
"Thankfully, there is no one—"
He cut off his mumble when he realized there was a silhouette sitting in front of him.
