Legendary Librarian System
Chapter 33: Where Are You Going?
CHAPTER 33: WHERE ARE YOU GOING?
As Liu Wei stepped foot outside, a cold breeze smacked him, fluttering his clothes.
Just as he was enjoying the outside, he frowned.
He sensed something that was trying to warn him not to do something.
He did not need to ask the System as the latter answered his inquiry timely.
[A Blazing Wall Array is built in the kingdom. Once it senses demonic qi, it will instantly burn the demonic cultivator. Thankfully, your physique is able to hide it. Of course, if you want to trigger it, you can perform your Sword Arts at the moment.]
Liu Wei rolled his eyes.
He was certainly not interested in jeopardizing himself.
His senses were already warning him to behave or he would have to bear the heavy consequence.
Thankfully, he was able to tame his physique, so he could freely choose whether to trigger the formation or not.
[Inevitably, there will be demonic cultivators like you who can hide themselves against the Blazing Wall Array. Even then, they are powerless and can only rely on their deceitful nature to gain power in this place.]
Liu Wei nodded, taking note of what the System was saying.
He swept his gaze and walked down the stairs.
When he reached the ground, he turned around and admired his library.
He pondered...
What makes my library not enticing enough for others to enter?
His Library was indeed ordinary.
However, it was lacking the very important part of the business.
His face fell.
He mumbled in a daze.
"There is no sign board..."
[You have finally realized how dimwitted you are.]
Liu Wei did not know whether to laugh or cry.
If any other passerby glanced at his library, they would never notice it was a library at all.
Unless, they had to ascend the stairs and finally be able to peer through inside since the entrance was widely open.
However, who would be so interested in trying to waste their time since the streets were always busy?
Liu Wei felt a headache just thinking about it.
In the end, he shook his head and lowered it.
He mumbled, "I guess, what you said makes sense. Only those who are fated to enter the library have the chance to borrow the book."
Suddenly, the System bursted into laughter.
[I was just playing around with you, dimwit.
In fact, if people are not fated to enter the library, their subconscious would help them deny themselves from entering.
There is free access to books available as you grow stronger. However, not everyone had their fate connected to their library. Only those fated ones.]
Liu Wei was stunned.
He asked, "Will the free books be not free in the future? I mean, I gotta earn System Points, right?"
[Dimwit, they can have free access to the book, but borrowing it to take it outside costs Spirit Stones. In fact, that doesn’t exempt you. Thankfully, you did not bring the books with you.]
Liu Wei was shocked.
He did not expect he would almost increase his debt to the System.
He rolled his eyes and snorted.
"You really won’t waste a chance, do you?"
The System replied.
[It’s not my fault. Do you want me to point out how you were playing around with me, making me think like you don’t know when you actually did a few months ago? Just to make me spill?]
Liu Wei sighed and shrugged.
He simply just wanted to confirm some things.
In the end, he learned about the most important things—he was not exempted at all.
However, it all made sense.
He turned around and decided to go outside.
The street was empty, every store was closed.
There were barely any people outside... except, the patroller.
One patroller, wearing almost similar armor to Princess Jin Xuelin’s guard, spotted him and intimidatingly walked towards him.
Liu Wei stood straight and simply smiled, waiting for him, unfazed.
He stared at the patroller, who was a bit smaller than him, and smiled at him once he arrived in front of him.
The patroller barked, "Why are you still outside? Do you want to be imprisoned?"
Liu Wei frowned.
He asked, "Why can’t I go outside? Is there perhaps a curfew?"
The patroller gazed at him in silence and said, "How are you not aware of the city’s basic law? Even a barbarian is aware of it."
Liu Wei shrugged.
"Well, I’m not a barbarian."
The patroller was enraged.
He was about to punish him after taking out his whip, his other weapon, when his eyes landed on Liu Wei’s sword.
They shone with greed.
He scrutinized Liu Wei and gauged his cultivation level.
He silently ridiculed him.
So, just an Early Qi Condensation Stage? Yet he possessed such a treasure? He might have just found it and thought it was a beautiful sword. He certainly is not aware of its value.
Just in case, he swept his gaze around and finally realized Liu Wei was alone.
He was inwardly screaming with joy.
Trying to keep his expression straight, he asked, "Where are you going?"
I must lead him outside. I have to prevent other eyes on me once I stole his treasures.
He could not help but lament how fair the rules in the kingdom were, trying to impose equality between the outsider and the local.
He could only play by the rules.
Liu Wei smiled at him and said, "Outside."
The patroller was taken aback.
He grinned inwardly.
You’re making it easier.
He was confident he would be able to kill Liu Wei in an instant and stole his treasure.
After all, he was in the late Qi Condensation Stage.
He also learned the exclusive cultivation technique and martial arts from the kingdom.
While Liu Wei? He even doubted if Liu Wei has martial arts technique.
However, there was something that made him feel strange.
Liu Wei’s age was a bit monstrous to his cultivation level.
Nevertheless, since Liu Wei has lesser cultivation level than him, he was confident he would be able to take him down.
Without hesitation, he tried to smile as politely as possible, not noticing it was coinciding with his happy emotion, and said, "Alright. I will lead you outside."
